Quotes about penance, page 9
Devi Kanyakumari
Yonder rock solitary speaketh
Pleasure Thou in painful penance..
Imprinted SriPaadam ever awaiting
The Lord to espouse before long
Devi,
Thou erred command by Narada's fate
Turned Thou fate to austere virgin
Albeit failure-causer felt no guise
But sequelized vanquishment
Blessed Banasura confronted to..
Victorious Thou hopeful heart
Fledging Thou ornamental fulgency
East to west face to face
Telecasting rarefied sun and moon
Amid the roaring broadcast blissful
Sister-seas yelling out for Shiva
Avow we on Thou bestowal
Our plea to Thou consort's arrival

In a Reflective Mood
Life has no gurantees...
Mind has no boundaries...
Love has no expiry date....
Compassion has no nameplate...
Soul has no death...
Deception has no depth....
Beauty has no age....
Truth has no guage....
Anger has no friend....
Courage has no dead end....
A lie has no conscience....
Conflict has no sentience...
Violence has no cadence....
Cruelty has no penance...

He
When belief and love set on fire
Tears plop down from the sky
With pain and sorrows
Hoping best for tomorrows…
Sacred rain makes all bright
And brings in all belief of light,
Make all living things dance
And release them from penance…
The sky becomes azure
And the fragrance emits
When sacred drops and love
And graciousness remits…
Divine blessing showers
On us with rain and powers,
Lightning strikes like stones
With Clamoring cold tone…

A burden.
Devotion to God is met by many ways.
Sing or hear songs made in praise of God.
Attend discourses; undertake pilgrimage.
Visit temples and worship the deities.
Attend festivals and perform rituals.
Do penance and pretence in public.
Select a seer and go after him.
The profound faith you repose in Him
Will take you to the mount of happiness.
The salvation assured from devotion
Will take you to the valley of quietness.
Of course, you forgot to work for your bread,
Or live on the hoarded or borrowed wealth.
As a a burden to the population.

Melody Of Your Charm
MELODY OF YOUR CHARM
Melvin Banggollay
Early morning, sunshines blooms
Melody of a blessed morning
When you let your smiles boom
Fragrance so sweet and charming.
The melody of your tender charm
Illuminates sweet gentle romance
that heals and keep me warm
from emptiness and penance.
It is my wish to be your groom
To nestle this love full of caring
to build a home filled with a room
of romance without an ending.
I am nothing but my love is warm
and faith anchored with romance

Sonnet: Is Earthly-life, a Purgatory?
O God, perhaps this is my purgatory!
Help me to bear my sufferings with joy;
Let pain and strife become my offertory;
Let not the devils with my soul to toy.
When trials come and tribulations too,
My face must wear a smile that never fades;
When out of habit, mortal sins I do,
Let me ignore the devils’ accolades!
Let remorse strike my plaintive heart early;
Let guilt not make me commit suicide;
Just like you can’t uncurl the curly hair,
Man sins, his actions being malafide!
Make me penitent and do my penance;
Gain forgiveness to see God’s countenance.

Gossip Magazines
When the actresses show everything
from conception to delivery,
with verve and pleasure
to enlighten the ignorant mass,
why the gossip magazines
spread rumours about
the riveting sagas
of love affairs and flirts
of the stars of the tinsel world,
politics and of those in the clutches
of the sages and saints
doing penance in ashrams
to purge the sins of others?
The boys drooled over
the topless photos of the movie stars
a decade back in lonely places.
Now they see, relish
all the performing actresses
in the nets and cell phones and iPods.

Lament For My Religion
How to be guiltless
when penance is the sin.
I am wary of a Redeemer,
A Nazarene claiming all souls,
even as he hangs on a cross
-of his own will-
each nail a sin
every puncture a corruption,
an indictment
for grace not freely given.
And the tongue of fire,
failing to ignite
the coldest of hearts
-casting its light
where radiance already abides.
Is it a light that blinds
and casts shadows on the wall?
Or does it show the true sign of the Beast,
the true color of Joseph's coat,
the kingdom with its fortunate souls

Peace Is Acceptance
Your ego fails to accept—
this can be a regret…
Your ego judges another—
your sister—your brother.
Peace is energy with acceptance—
no need to do penance.
Friendliness is a sign from a higher plane—
emanate the energy of acceptance to
bring peace again.
When a person has shed his load—
travels on lighter road—
mourned their loss and accepted their limitations
you can open up to the heavens a rejoice in celebration.
For now you can emanate friendliness
and treating each person as a soul
you now walk the lighter road
for you have come so far you should know.
