You Whose Name
You whose name is aggressor and devourer.
Putrid and sultry, in fermentation.
You mash into pulp sages and prophets,
Criminals and heroes, indifferently.
My vocativus is useless.
You do not hear me, though I address you,
Yet I want to speak, for I am against you.
So what if you gulp me, I am not yours.
You overcome me with exhaustion and fever.
You blur my thought, which protests,
You roll over me, dull unconscious power.
The one who will overcome you is swift, armed:
Mind, spirit, maker, renewer.
He jousts with you in depths and on high,
Equestrian, winged, lofty, silver-scaled.
I have served him in the investiture of forms.
It's not my concern what he will do with me.

Every young African has a dream,
The very dream to get out of the poverty line;
Every dreamer has a dream,
Of dreams to prosper in life;
But, many die too young with their dreams.
It is in Africa where talents are bound,
It is in this place that we struggle to gain;
But, can we jump this fence from here?
One mortal, one number;
One man, one humdred;
We still have hopes to overcome.
One million-ways of visionaries to tap,
One thousand roses ot love to share with;

Finding Life In Death
I spend so much time doting on earth and what it has,
Enjoying what's mine to use, to take, to squander.
I keep modeling myself to what I think will work,
But for my mistakes there is no remedy.
All my light, no matter how hard I shine,
Cannot overcome these stains of dark, of perversion, of guilt.
I look around and am without excuse, there is success, there is right,
But where does this over powering light, that is not subdued by death come from?
Nothing I have within me can overcome me,
Who is this intercessor that magnetically pulls me towards him?
This light, somehow familiar with death, a death, many deaths,
my death.
How is his death on my hands because of my death?
My death, my dying, my deeds deserving death...
For my death he died?
How redemption suddenly eclipses all other pursuits,
I switch from seeking sin to seeking salvation.

Waiting For Our Turn
The flag of Ghana and the wisdom of my home,
With self-exaltation to bring you closer to my lover;
And like the fundamental questions of love,

Labor conquers everything
If we black and brown men work, work, work together hard enough
