Your Own Fate

What if you did all that you wanted;
If your hopes and dreams were flaunted,
For all the world to see and applaud! ?
Why not give yourself, instead of others, the nod-
To live your own life, unaffected by others' views! ?
Why not allow your life to be what you would choose,
Without regard for what the uninformed opine! ?
Why not live your life as I live mine:
For, by, and of myself-without prejudice,
Bias, or hate-my heart is for all, commodious.
My dreams are mine for a reason:
I do not seek and find, then alter like a season,
Because others need to assert their ignorance,
All the while under the guise of guidance
And protection-as if you could not possibly know
What is best for you-like this interference could possibly show
The altruism that they so ardently profess!
This decision, made under the throngs of duress,
Is not what is best for you, it is what is easiest for them.

Breaking Out of Yuma

Has anyone ever noticed?
How abuse chains and prisons their souls?
Leaves them living in the past!
And just like the dust,
Seen with the sun beams shine through the glass
They float there, memory, you inhale pain
And gasp

My friends, my family,
The day has will come
When, you must make a decision.
Break out of those endless prisons!
Face those truths,
Those things that hurt so bad,
They rule your life,
Every time, angry or sad...

I know it's against the law to escape some prisons...
But the abusers put you this one...

The Powers Of Addiction

This feeling is an uncontrollable urge,
Very soon I'll be ranting and raving,
On my body and mind it is truly a scourge,
I must score to get rid of my craving.

It's okay to drink it's fine to smoke,
Though it kills more than my illegal drugs,
While your liver fails and your black lungs choke,
It's not just us Junkies who are mugs.

Addicts are not those down and out scum,
Society just loves to portray,
They can be rich and famous yes clever not dumb,
Does that make their addiction okay.

When I look at my own reflection,
The ravages of drugs I don't see,
I still look at myself with affection,
Deep inside that skeleton is me.
