Quotes about quarter, page 2

Last Quarter

I'm in the last quarter, but am i sad?
You bet i'm not because i've had
A lot of ups and just a few downs,
Mostly smiles and occasionally frowns.

If i had to do it over again,
Would i carefully think and better plan?
Maybe i would, but i still couldn't know
Which curve balls life might throw.

For me the last quarter's just like the first.
It's the present i love and the future i thirst.
And the past is just that for me.
It taught me a lot, but it's a memory.

In this last quarter i have no sorrow.
I treasure today and can't wait for tomorrow.
Then when time passes this quarter i'm in,
I'll rest in peace knowing love did win!

Dante In The Laundromat Journeys Further Into Hell Beginning With Two Lines From The Book

At some false semblance in the twilight gloom
that from this terror you may free yourself
posthaste, gracelessly cast out, the closing
hour now come, caught in 'spin cycle' after
'hard rinse, ' an entire bottle of fabric softener
cannot unstiffen mythic threads,

the ancient weaves fray,
displace, are 'undone, so many'
beneath the winnowing rotors
that beat, beat with hope,
slosh, wash all sins away.

Yet gathers the dirt,
there's more sin ahead
heady in floral scents.

After midnight, beneath
bright florescence I read
Dante, his Inferno, of Hell's

The Monster & Captain Kreel

We were out in the North Atlantic
When the storm began to blow,
We reefed in the tops and gallants so
We wouldn't end down below,
The ship was tossed in a fury,
The mate was strapped to the wheel,
There wasn't a dry man left aboard,
Not even Captain Kreel.

The Captain, he was a bully,
He would flog 'til his arm was sore,
He drove the men at their stations 'til
They couldn't have taken more,
He kept a rope at the yardarm,
A warning to every man,
His word was not to be questioned if
A tar didn't want to hang!

Each wave was a liquid mountain
That crashed on the after deck,

Here's A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)

You say you were wrong to ever leave me alone
Now you're sorry, you're lonesome and scared
And you say you'd be happy if you could just come back home
Well here's a quarter, call someone who cares
CHORUS:
Call someone who'll listen and might give a damn
Maybe one of your sorted affairs
But don't you come 'round here handin' me none of your lines
Here's a quarter, call someone who cares
I thought what we had could never turn bad
So your leavin' caught me unaware
But the fact is you've run, girl that can't be undone
So here's a quarter, call someone who cares
REPEAT CHORUS
Yeah here's a quarter, call someone who cares

No Quarter

Close the door put out the light,
You know they wont be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and dont you know,
The winds of thor are blowing cold.
Theyre wearing steel thats bright and true.
They carry news that must get through.
They choose the path where no one goes.
They hold no quarter.
They hold no quarter.
Walking side by side with death,
The devil mocks their every step.
The snow drives back the foot thats slow,
The dogs of doom are howling more.
They carry news that must get through,
To build a dream for me and you.
They choose the path where no one goes.
They hold no quarter.
They ask no quarter.

Woozy

Lovely...
Always on till like a quarter to three, lovely
Always on till like a quarter to three, lovely
Always on till like a quarter to three, lovely
Always on till like a quarter to three, lovely
Even though it's sandy and dusty
Adjust my position on my cushion
Time is a treasure cause it's oh-so-dear
Lying here at my leisure on air
And the sun is really high in the sky
How am I supposed to 'do the dew'
When it's too hot to move
I'm woozy
I'm woozy
I'm woozy
Nobody in bed with me
I need room to be where I want to be
No need to zoom or rush
In fact, take out the bass in case we need more hush
Less percussion, a little less pushing and shoving

Ive Got A Quarter In My Pocket

(jake kelly/billy yates)
Ive got a quarter in my pocket
Wont you tell me what I should do
Should I put it in the phone
So I can come crawling home to you
Or should I put it in the jukebox
And play another heartbreak song
Im leaning towards the latter
And I really hate being alone
Gonna flip it in the air
Gonna watch it fly
If its heads I might love again
If its tails Ill cry
Ive got a quarter in my pocket
Wont you tell me what I should do
Should I put it in the phone
So I can come crawling home to you
Or should I put it in the jukebox
And play another heartbreak song
Im leaning towards the latter

The Clergyman’s Second Tale

Edward and Jane a married couple were,
And fonder she of him or he of her
Was hard to say; their wedlock had begun
When in one year they both were twenty-one;
And friends, who would not sanction, left them free.
He gentle-born, nor his inferior she,
And neither rich; to the newly-wedded boy,
A great Insurance Office found employ.
Strong in their loves and hopes, with joy they took
This narrow lot and the world’s altered look;
Beyond their home they nothing sought or craved,
And even from the narrow income saved;
Their busy days for no ennui had place,
Neither grew weary of the other’s face.
Nine happy years had crowned their married state
With children, one a little girl of eight;
With nine industrious years his income grew,
With his employers rose his favour too;
Nine years complete had passed when something ailed,
Friends and the doctors said his health had failed,

Don Juan: Canto The Fifth

When amatory poets sing their loves
In liquid lines mellifluously bland,
And pair their rhymes as Venus yokes her doves,
They little think what mischief is in hand;
The greater their success the worse it proves,
As Ovid's verse may give to understand;
Even Petrarch's self, if judged with due severity,
Is the Platonic pimp of all posterity.

I therefore do denounce all amorous writing,
Except in such a way as not to attract;
Plain- simple- short, and by no means inviting,
But with a moral to each error tack'd,
Form'd rather for instructing than delighting,
And with all passions in their turn attack'd;
Now, if my Pegasus should not be shod ill,
This poem will become a moral model.

The European with the Asian shore
Sprinkled with palaces; the ocean stream
