Last Quarter

I'm in the last quarter, but am i sad?
You bet i'm not because i've had
A lot of ups and just a few downs,
Mostly smiles and occasionally frowns.

If i had to do it over again,
Would i carefully think and better plan?
Maybe i would, but i still couldn't know
Which curve balls life might throw.

For me the last quarter's just like the first.
It's the present i love and the future i thirst.
And the past is just that for me.
It taught me a lot, but it's a memory.

In this last quarter i have no sorrow.
I treasure today and can't wait for tomorrow.
Then when time passes this quarter i'm in,
I'll rest in peace knowing love did win!

Dante In The Laundromat Journeys Further Into Hell Beginning With Two Lines From The Book

At some false semblance in the twilight gloom
that from this terror you may free yourself
posthaste, gracelessly cast out, the closing
hour now come, caught in 'spin cycle' after
'hard rinse, ' an entire bottle of fabric softener
cannot unstiffen mythic threads,

the ancient weaves fray,
displace, are 'undone, so many'
beneath the winnowing rotors
that beat, beat with hope,
slosh, wash all sins away.

Yet gathers the dirt,
there's more sin ahead
heady in floral scents.

The Monster & Captain Kreel

We were out in the North Atlantic
When the storm began to blow,
We reefed in the tops and gallants so
We wouldn't end down below,
The ship was tossed in a fury,
The mate was strapped to the wheel,
There wasn't a dry man left aboard,
Not even Captain Kreel.

The Captain, he was a bully,
He would flog 'til his arm was sore,
He drove the men at their stations 'til
They couldn't have taken more,
He kept a rope at the yardarm,
A warning to every man,
His word was not to be questioned if
