At least I have the modesty to admit that lack of modesty is one of my failings.

Jean Jacques Rousseau

Although modesty is natural to man, it is not natural to children. Modesty only begins with the knowledge of evil.

An Esteemed Person

As a yak in Himalayas happens to lose
its thick fur-like hair during winter season,
It can't survive and die due to heavy snowfall;

Similarly An Esteemed Person,
if he happens to lose his modesty,
shall die if the lost modesty is regained!

(ThirukkuRaL 969)

Is there Any Esteemed Person nowadays?
Many persons who attended CBI enquiry
are in Tihar Jail and are still alive!

A crime in the dark of night

Under the cover of the drowsy night,
I see a very painful sight,
On the outskirts of the city,
A crime is born out of pity,
The crime is henious in nature,
Modesty experiences a fracture,
Who are these awesome faces,
I saw on them no traces,
No traces of shame and modesty,
Humanity seems to be void of honesty,
They are waiting for the customers,
They can be both old and new comers,
No job for them is a better substitute,
For each one of them is a prostitute.

Bragging Modesty

Why boast modesty? Wasn't handpicked
Bragging seems silly, when was obligation strict.
Posing wise on patterns borrowed by others
Followed a code & custom, or advise by mothers.
Justifying tartness, when Grapes felt sour
Choice will be different, when given some power.
Sour now bad and 'the grapes weren't mine'
Go with flock, is their new punch line.
Decency is out; it's Vanity that's in
Advance WE are, hold up the chin.
(Dear) Modesty is a virtue but its flaunting isn't smart
Simple or Not, be honest with all heart.

Sonnet- Female Models And Today’s Fashion Shows

In the name of fashions, they wear the least!
Cat-walking, tip-toeing, clothed by a veil;
Revealing much, turning everyone pale;
When more modest would appear any beast.

All made up they come, these beauties so thin;
Baring their breasts, sizes, shapes aplenty;
’Tis an exercise of insanity!
Revealing their bottoms is not a sin.

They still call it fashion-parades these days;
Dress is something that protects modesty;
Revealing their bodies in umptine ways,
Their dress is so transparent and scanty.

What has befall’n our modern society?
Dress reveals modesty in entirety!

Clothes chapter X

And the weaver said, "Speak to us of Clothes."

And he answered:

Your clothes conceal much of your beauty, yet they hide not the unbeautiful.

And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy you may find in them a harness and a chain.

Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment,

For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind.

Some of you say, "It is the north wind who has woven the clothes to wear."

But shame was his loom, and the softening of the sinews was his thread.

And when his work was done he laughed in the forest.

Forget not that modesty is for a shield against the eye of the unclean.

Never Thought To Be Revealed

Positivity and politics,
Deceases in minds...
Aware,
Of mismatches.

Honesty and modesty are no longer seen,
To find...
Anywhere existing.
As it is...
Or as a wish!

Magnified are weeping eyes.
And...
Many are today surprised,
By...
What was once not thought imagined.
Or...
Never touched to be revealed.

Positivity and politics,

Lakshmi in her silken veil

Lakshmi, in her silken veil
of modesty, walks unrecognised,
free as birds are free, around our world…

veiled in stillness; her lovely arms
bestowing, secretly, invisibly
her wealth;

her step so light, her being so, so still…
she passes you every day;
has never forgotten you;

so if you think she has neglected you –
consider, instead, her reasons:
she may be holding back to teach
(do you hear her laugh so lightly?)
pure grace, pure gratitude,
tomorrow, or the next day…
humility, she teaches, is the greatest wealth..

The Conversation. A Tale

It always has been a thought discreet
To know the company you meet;
And sure there may be secret danger
In talking much before a stranger.
Agreed: what then? Then drink your ale;
I'll pledge you, and repeat my tale.

No matter where the scene is fix'd,
The persons were but oddly mix'd;
When sober Damon thus began,
(And Damon is a clever man!)
I now grow old, but still from youth
Have held for modesty and truth;
The men who by these sea-marks steer
In life's great voyage never err:

Upon this point I dare defy
The world; I pause for a reply.

Sir, either is a good assistant,
