Quotes about criticise, page 2

Rosanna Arquette

Criticism really used to hurt me. Most of these critics are usually frustrated artists, and they criticise other people's art because they can't do it themselves. It's a really disgusting job. They must feel horrible inside.

Just

A just man and a just woman,
Walking down along the sret of love;
But let your 'yes' be 'yes and your 'no' be 'no'!

You only criticise along the line but,
You are not perfect either!
But what is right is always seen by the just people around you.

Cure For It

Fright has a readiness all of its own,
No matter the sacred nature of your one.
Feeding I gain of the insane individuals,
Liars of mind and feelers of dread.
I see beyond the reason and unreason
To criticise a man or woman who is in fright.

Modern Art

I’m not sure how I should start
To write a poem on modern art.
It leaves me in a quandary
It holds no real appeal for me.
I don’t dismiss it out hand
I really try to understand.
What modern artists try to do.
I know it’s different for you.
It is quite true I realise
I’m not equipped to criticise
I prefer to feast my eyes
On something I can recognise.
Modern art just baffles me
I don’t know what it’s meant to be.

Unsolicited Testimonial

They say Wendy Cope
Writes humorous verse
And whyever not?
She could do a lot worse

She could write clever poems
Intended to sound
Philosophically deep
Obscurely profound

Or pen tragic poems
Of love, loss and woe
Tearfully epic
Dreadfully slow

Or criticise men
Just for having a willy
For not being perfect
And sometimes quite silly

Just in case

The death knell sounds sonorously.
The mourners dressed decorously
have come to say their last farewell.
Invited by the tolling bell.

Some come to pay their last respects.
Nobody mentions his defects.
An unspoken conspiracy.
A custom universally.

observed by all the human race.
A funeral is not the place
to criticise the newly dead.
Perhaps because we live in dread.

That vengeful ghosts will take offence.
We choose to lie in self defence.

Delighted, Delirious! 22.09.09

The house is in good taste except
next to my bed, a water hyacinth
and white flowers, a riot of pink
a little doll, glittering fairy
wings in a purple hue

Books and pictures of fairies
stuffed animals, sea-shells on
a string, a shiny butterfly, purple
beads, no-one can take my kitsch
away

No-one can criticise my taste in
my room, I am rich when I look
at my treasures, as precious as
beautiful thoughts, my production
sheet was correct

For the first time ever - I am
so glad, so delighted

Loves true meaning!

Loves True Meaning
Take time to compromise
If you have to criticise
Choose words that are wise
Or you may have to pay a price

Indulge in patience
Try to experience
the good and the bad
and make reference
to everything without pretence

Show each other respect
Rather than detect and inspect
What you do not like
Your different ways
You must accept

There has to be an element of trust
telling lies is the worst

Jane

My daughter Jane makes dresses
For beautiful Princesses;
But though she's plain is Jane,
Of needlework she's vain,
And makes such pretty things
For relatives of Kings.

She reads the picture papers
Where Royalties cut capers,
And often says to me:
'How wealthy they must be,
That nearly every day
A new robe they can pay.'

Says I: 'If your Princesses
Could fabric pretty dresses,
Though from a throne they stem
I would think more of them.
Peeress and shopgirl are
To my mind on a par.'

Accidental Insults

Although I write mainly for me.
I choose to share my poetry.
With other poets on the net.
The only thing that I regret.
Sometimes I find I have upset.

Somebody inadvertently.
Albeit unintentionally.
I can only apologise
For bringing teardrops to their eyes.
Though I am taken by surprise.

By what they read into my words.
I often find it quite absurd.
They take offence at what I write.
They see it in a different light.
And choose to take the opposite.

view. Because they fail to understand.
They then dismiss me out of hand.
