This is a disposable poem.
Under each stanza
is a perforated line

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

you may read it stanza by stanza
and throw away each as you read
or having it read it through,
shorten it stanza by stanza

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

since many poems on this site
benefit from curtailing
because amateur poets
tend to be uncertain
about their work

A festival of lights

Festival of light to bring happiness and joy
Worries pushed in corner for everybody to enjoy
As if thousand suns shine in the night
Whole of area is completely flooded with light

Why lights all over and loud noise of crackers?
What enjoyment sport person gets as skaters?
What innocent children see in illumination in sky?
Complete enjoyment and all crackers to fly

The home is brought to a descent show
Small different light bulbs alternatively glow
As if catching with coming of new years
Loud bang and noisy nights do not trouble ears

Prayers are offered for prosperous year
All are braced with new vigor without fear
Time to help needy and wiping of tears
Smile on face even with lots of pain to bear

I was totally unaware about her intention and desire
I used to act like child with madness to her
Was teasing her at even odd times
Much to her disliking of my style sometimes

She might have been thinking often
Getting novel ideas and disturbed even
It will become talk of the town if it did not take off
Got bogged down on my refusal with worst kind of laugh

Crow[n]ing Appreciation

CROW[N]ING APPRECIATION Kindly refer to notes

May this rhymed reel appreciation show
An insight into mind prismatic whose
Unrivalled aptitudes should make world news
Dare we delve deep beneath sweet surface glow.
Ever instincts’ sentinels tap flow,
Meditate on standards she pursues -
Awareness and autonomy won’t loose.
Undouted search from perch where most might crow
Dreaming on teaming, fearing fall below.
Excellence, integrity no excuse
MAy ever accept, though rigid rules are cues
Used more to guide than bind or keep in toe.
Destiny’s rejected. Free will traces
Extensive network independence chases.

Extensive network independence chases
Despises narrow minds, unwinds tall tales,
Upstanding and outstanding spirit sails

La Fontaine

The Picture

SOLICITED I've been to give a tale,
In which (though true, decorum must prevail),
The subject from a picture shall arise,
That by a curtain's kept from vulgar eyes.
My brain must furnish various features new:
What's delicate and smart produce to view;
By this expressed, and not by t'other said:
And all so clear, most easy to be read,
By ev'ry fool, without the aid of notes,
That idiot's bad indeed who never quotes.

CATULLUS tells us, ev'ry matron sage
Will peep most willingly (whate'er her age),
At that gigantick gift, which Juno made,
To Venus' fruit, in gardens oft displayed.
If any belle recede, and shun the sight,
Dissimulation she supposes right.

THIS principle allowed, why scruples make?
Why, less than eyes, should ears a license take?
