Happy Forth of July

The tents are set up and all the family arrives.
For it is the July Fourth family weekend party.
For three and sometimes four days the McCoy clan celebrates this special day.
We lay out on the pond, tell stories, set off fireworks, have campfires, play with the little cousins, have volleyball tournaments, and eat lots of food.
We always have a great time because it's just a bunch of crazy family fun.
Not only do we celebrate this special day but we celebrate our wonderful and huge family.
This is only one tradition we celebrate but we have many more.

Sonnet: Ants Too Are Great

The Ants too serve the Lord in greater ways;
If not for them, who will devour the dead
Of flora, fauna? Nobody them pays;
But that is how they work and get well fed.

They work much more than any human soul;
Their little brains can think a lot of things;
Never-ending, they labor for a goal;
Suff’ring adverse conditions, Nature brings.

What unity exists within the clan!
They worked in unison in disaster;
They are so industrious, much more than man;
For body size, they run even faster.

Man has to learn many lessons from the ants;
They live much satisfied with lesser wants.

Burdens Eased

Carrying the broad shoulders of the world---
This afternoon reveals the tirades of rain...
In absolute wonder of the mysteries borne...
In awe of the unknowns and its cutting pain;

Raging 'tis the thunder and lightening spurned...
Circling in eternal winds that will not pass...
Even insects run for cover-removed from continual hover--
Hidden neatly 'neath the green blades O' grass;

These shoulders are oft' overwhelmingly heavy-
But as sisters of this Mother Earthed clan--
We are able to find enough grace-in this weighted place--
Mended with haloes of love we forever stand! ;

A Fair Go For All Is Something We Should Embrace

For every Nationality and every race
A fair go for all is something we should embrace
A fair go for everyone of every creed
The right to a fair go everyone does need
From politicians negatives we so often hear
And xenophobia is one surely born of fear
But people of goodwill of all races know
That the World would be worse off without a fair go
For every child, every woman and every man
Of every race and of every clan
where racism is rife there is disharmony
And for the good in others we must look to see
And broadminded people can never be small
They believe in the cause of a fair go for all.

Ambrose Bierce

The Retrospective Bird

His caw is a cackle, his eye is dim,
And he mopes all day on the lowest limb;
Not a word says he, but he snaps his bill
And twitches his palsied head, as a quill,
The ultimate plume of his pride and hope,
Quits his now featherless nose-of-the-Pope,
Leaving that eminence brown and bare
Exposed to the Prince of the Power of the Air.
And he sits and he thinks: 'I'm an old, old man,
Mateless and chickless, the last of my clan,
But I'd give the half of the days gone by
To perch once more on the branches high,
And hear my great-grand-daddy's comical croaks
In authorized versions of _Bulletin_ jokes.'

A Vampire Clan

Twilight had arrived at the castle
by the sea
Just as princess came back to
her bedroom
She was always inside the castle
dusk til dawn
For the bad vampires and demons
were many spawn

Her father always says it is best not
to invite trouble
But sometimes mad trouble comes
to you uninvited
As the dropp dead gorgeous demon
who is in disguise
Or the brain eating zombie who has
the red eyes

A vicious vampire clan came to her
bedroom window

God Is My Witness

God knows, 'twas not with a fore--reasoned plan
I left the easeful dwellings of my peace,
And sought this combat with ungodly Man,
And ceaseless still through years that do not cease
Have warred with Powers and Principalities.
My natural soul, e'er yet these strifes began,
Was as a sister diligent to please
And loving all, and most the human clan.

God knows it. And he knows how the world's tear
Touched me. And He is witness of my wrath,
How it was kindled against murderers
Who slew for gold, and how upon their path
I met them. Since which day the World in arms
Strikes at my life with angers and alarms.

One Clan Left, Another I Met

I wonder at the different phases of life,
i met people in meets and bounds,
one clan left another i met,
there is no bond but memory allures,
sometime haunts othertime fond,
at times i travel down the memory lane,
and get lost in solitary way,
many things are gone in vain,
thou i feel utter pain,
few people whom i admired a lot,
are nowhere nearby now,
with those i passed my afternoon blues,
with laughter and smile,
where are they now
i wonder i wonder and wonder more and more,
when i think of them,
almost i feel lonely and lost,
for time never stops and memories never fades.
