All The Things Which I Would Be
ALL THE THINGS WHICH I WOULD BE
All the things which I would be
And am not
Fade into my eyes
The Distance calls me
But how can I know
How far the distance is
From my fear of homelessness?
Others may roam the earth wildly
But I am a quiet soul
Always seeking a deeper stillness
In which I can dream.
Let me know the longings of other eyes and hearts
But be as I am
Quiet and still and happy and at peace
As my mother was
So surely beside me
Through all my long childhood.
