Love Is Not A Joke
O You Aleesh,
You won me
by your devouring looks
and smiles enchaining.
I became myself
after two decades of
killing grief untold
from my hurt heart.
The flight of fancy
and tongue so witty,
my usual forte
came again to cheer my friends.
But you Aleesh,
you wanted me as a boyfriend.
Could this village youth
who never falls in love
but once fallen never forgets in life,
laugh, joke, dine and say bye
like a philanderer?
When you were betrothed
it never made me grievous.
I was just down and out.
“God bless her”,
my heart wished.
But when you went in dark
with the cunning hunter
before my sad, shocked eyes
you didn’t break my heart alone
but the heart of love itself.
