Do You Love Me
Why do you have to complicate my life
by asking if I love you?
Isn’t it enough for me to hold you in my arms
and spend my nights with you?
Please don’t push me for an answer,
I just enjoy being with you.
I could say yes and don’t mean it,
but that wouldn’t be honest with you.
What makes you ask that question,
when I never ask it of you?
I know you tell me you love me everyday
and it’s so obvious I’m happy with you.
I would like to say yes to your question,
but to be perfectly honest with you…
I’m frightened to make the commitment,
but if I was in love, it would be with you.
Love binds hearts, minds, and souls together,
so once I tell you that I love you
I will give you my everything forever,
even my very being for you.
So it’s not just a simple yes or no
that I would give to you.
It would be my life, body, and soul
that I would entrust to you.
So would you be willing to give such a love
if I put the same question to you?
Just think about it and be as honest with me,
as I have tried to be with you.
