Disparity

How can we live in so much excess,
when people live out on the street?
How can we let them die alone,
out in cold and desert heat?

How can we say we don't have enough,
when enough is a point far beyond of which we've gone?
How can we say that we want justice,
when our actions are more like that of a devil spawn's?

How can we say that the world is not fair,
when the one it's not fair to isn't us?
How can we act like we are the ones who wrong has been done to
when we shouldn't be the ones kicking up the fuss?

Maybe we are to act as a voice,
to call and bring in other men.
Maybe our role is just to work real hard
and bring change to this sorry land.
