Observations.

Observations

I think that I may never see.
A hippo in a kimono.
I rather think that it would be
a rarity in Tokyo.

Nor do I expect to see
gorillas wearing pink tutus.
Because it seems apparently.
They’re not what a great ape would choose

But I have seen humans dressed
just as inappropriately.
In their attempts to look their best.
But sadly they fail miserably.

I think perhaps you will agree.
That some have flair and some do not
There are some things I’d like to see
but many more I’d rather not.

Aging mutton dressed as lamb.
Is something I see frequently.
Some women do not give a damn
What others think it’s plain to see.

You can’t hold back much less erase.
The signs that living leaves behind
The lines and wrinkles on your face.
I do not mean to be unkind.

Why is it that you can’t accept
The fact that you are growing old.
And creams and lotions won’t protect
Despite the lies that you are told.

By advertisements that promise to
make you look younger than you are.
You know quite well they are not true.
Cosmetics only go so far.

Accept your lines and wrinkles show
You have attained maturity
and you are wise enough to know.
How to dress appropriately.
