Sonnet: God, Make the World Better
Build me a mantle of protection, Lord,
With fervent prayers that I Thee offer;
From evil men, safety I can’t afford;
Security of life, Thou must proffer.
The evil minds are far too many God;
The righteous men I see are far too few;
The world has gone crazy and appears ‘mod, ’
Most sinful acts escape punishments due.
Thou art the only One in whom I trust;
With Thee beside, no one dare pluck one hair!
Oh, bring Thy tempest /deluge/ famine/ gust,
And make the world order, once again fair.
The world is now unfit for most good men;
Thy Will be done on earth as in Heaven.
