From the sea came a boat with some Israeli commando soldiers who took me by the commando boat to the yacht and put me on the yacht. In the yacht I asked people, who are you. And they said we are Israelis, French and British.

The Irene C.

Our motor yacht the Irene C.
No finer vessel puts to sea
She’s seventy feet from stem to stern
the motor yacht for which we yearn

Equipped with sails and engines two
You’d be amazed what speed she’ll do,
Her top speeds more than twenty knots
Much faster than the other yachts

With two state rooms she is equipped.
Sheer luxury the captain quipped.
Two smaller cabins for the crew
With far less space they must make do.

It’s purely imaginary.
It will one day we both insist.

The Daisy Bree

I stood back on the quay and watched them
Raise the anchor, trim the sail,
Haul the spinnaker up to catch
The gusting breeze once under way;
They slipped out past the Harbour gates
And with them went my heart, my dreams,
As bitter fortune made it plain
That life is never all it seems.

My friend from childhood, Roger Cain,
My childhood sweetheart, Alice Drew,
They'd tied the knot an hour before
In secrecy, I never knew!
I'd thought that we had time enough
To sort it out, she'd made it plain:
'You either marry me, or else...'
She'd patted down the counterpane.

Marina Sunday

Sunday at the Marina
Water in the marina, clear as diesel
fish swimming close to surface
in peace of seagulls,
which know they stink of human
waste.
This is not the fish that
will feed the five thousand.
A child strews bread crumbs into the water,
ignored by the fishes.
Seagulls' shrieks and fall from the sky.
A man drops a glass of gin & tonic, on
the deck of yacht,
claws at his chest.
Ambulance and a nervous doctor
tells him not to smoke cigars
too late.
Young widow,
I hope she sells the bloody yacht.

Hannie's 70th Birthday

His spirit hovered overhead,
He cast his eyes below,
On the Sunborn Yacht Hotel,
Where Family and Friends today did go.

For Aaron Silas wished to see,
That all assembled would enjoy,
The Party for Hannie's 70th Birthday,
Given for her, by their Boys.

On the Nineteenth of August 2007,
It was Hannie Silas's 70th Birthday,
And Friends and Family did gather there,
To help her celebrate her Day.

The Ballade Of The Automobile

When our yacht sails seaward on steady keel
And the wind is moist with breath of brine
And our laughter tells of our perfect weal,
We may carol the praises of ruby wine;
But if, automobiling, my woes combine
And fuel gives out in my road-machine
And it's sixteen miles to that home of mine--
Then ho! For a gallon of gasoline!

When our coach rides smoothly on iron-shod wheel
With a deft touch guiding each taut drawn line
And the inn ahead holds a royal meal,
We may carol the praises of ruby wine;
But when, on some long and steep incline,
In a manner entirely unforeseen
The motor stops with a last sad whine--
Then ho! For a gallon of gasoline!

When the air is crisp and the brooks congeal
And our sleigh glides on with a speed divine

Strip Jack!

We'd been caught out in the yacht that day,
A storm blew up in the lee,
The clouds had gathered at four o'clock
In the wake of a rising sea,
'It's looking grim, ' I had said to her
As we spun the bows around,
And headed in to the distant shore
As the first of the rain came down.

The sun went in and the sky was black
As I reefed the sail in short,
While Linda pulled in the spinnaker,
And clung to the rail's support,
She made her way to the cabin then
As my phone began to ring,
I heard, 'It's done! ' and my mind went numb,
It was time to do my thing!

She stood with her back toward me as
I lunged with the marlin spike,
