Quotes about sirens

Homer

The Odyssey: Book 12

"After we were clear of the river Oceanus, and had got out into
the open sea, we went on till we reached the Aeaean island where there
is dawn and sunrise as in other places. We then drew our ship on to
the sands and got out of her on to the shore, where we went to sleep
and waited till day should break.
"Then, when the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn, appeared, I
sent some men to Circe's house to fetch the body of Elpenor. We cut
firewood from a wood where the headland jutted out into the sea, and
after we had wept over him and lamented him we performed his funeral
rites. When his body and armour had been burned to ashes, we raised
a cairn, set a stone over it, and at the top of the cairn we fixed the
oar that he had been used to row with.
"While we were doing all this, Circe, who knew that we had got
back from the house of Hades, dressed herself and came to us as fast
as she could; and her maid servants came with her bringing us bread,
meat, and wine. Then she stood in the midst of us and said, 'You
have done a bold thing in going down alive to the house of Hades,
and you will have died twice, to other people's once; now, then,
stay here for the rest of the day, feast your fill, and go on with
your voyage at daybreak tomorrow morning. In the meantime I will

The Siren's Cry

Thy silent maiden floats at sea,
Long golden hair flowing around her bod,
Nothing in her mind but a tale of love and woe,
As her tears fall to be lost in the sea,
Never to be seen again, but by those who whisper to she,
Whisper of a light so bright, that you cannot see the world,
The world that engulfs thy in horror of unreal wonders,
As water laps at thy feet, reaching, reaching for thy soul,
Crying the sirens cry to lure thee to her breast,
Her breast where thy silent maiden lay awaiting her lover’s hand,
Waiting for her tears to be dried with thy finger of love,
And still thy stand overcome by thy light of selfishness and want,
And still thy silent maiden lies out at sea,
Silver tears flowing from her closed eyes,
Arms out brushing backs of dolphins and whales,
Hair dancing in the waves,
As she sings her sirens song, pushing, pushing the water,
The waster that laps at thy feet, reaching, reaching for thy soul,
Water made of the sirens cry,
Luring thy to her breast, where thy silent maiden lay awaiting,

Severance

It was in
The late afternoon
On this sultry day in late summer, that
I heard
The sirens
Screaming,
At that time
I heard
A voice
Call from afar.
Not one sound was present, except
For the singing of crickets
And the sighing of maple trees;
Late summer, it was the time
Of the rising of the dead,
The falling of the leaves,
Stark, green, and envious,
Though shamelessly transforming into a
Putrid, mottled brown mass
Falling haphazardly into a heap onto the

Listen To The Sirens

Flow my tears the new police song
The slogan of peace is you must live
Theyve got me and Im one of them
Cancel: silence they screamed for days
Weve been here before, we wont stay
They can die, they can just turn off
Some vehicle moves in circles
Some people need the heroes
But I dont mind
I dont mind
Please listen to the sirens
We dont wish to be your friends
Please listen to the sirens
We wont ever call again
Mister webb there is no way out
Love this room, please dont fight your walls
Can you see Im wasting your time
A streetcars rusting unseen
Music halls empty like me
But I dont care

Ship Of Fools

Music :rudolf schenker
Lyrics:klaus meine
Another bloody monday
Thirty-nine just died
All hell breaks loose in the crowd
A hopeless helter skelter
Another mindless crime
Some corner of the world is burning down
Heading for a nervous breakdown
Cant take it anymore
I see the fear explode just like
A thousant nights before
The ship of fools
Keeps on rollin through a deadly storm
It wont take long till we collide
The ship of fools
Keeps on following the sirens call
Damned to be sacrificed
Corrupt politicians
Promise paradise

Siren

It were the sirens

who had the hero in thrall

Sirens are now sounded

to keep the heroes pent up in their

600 square feet flats

Hah Ha

There they ponder over their tv sets

set their attention on the shaver

and the after shave lotion

And soon the after siren city

Leaping Fire

Trees jump up behind the orange flames;
flames surges high – oh high.
Crackling is heard;
Flying ashes is seen.
Girl amid the sprinkling heat.
Flames surges high – oh high.
Heat intensifies,
tears swell in eyes…

…the breeze blows the crackling fire amok.
Run cries the wind, run Girl!
Trees murmur,
sirens in the distance are heard.
Circles of circles:
leaping fire –
leaves, branches are swung
carelessly among the fire amok.
Run cries the wind, run Girl!

Leaping, leaping high into the:

The Bestiary: or Orpheus’s Procession

(Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d’Orphée)

Orpheus

Admire the vital power
And nobility of line:
It’s the voice that the light made us understand here
That Hermes Trismegistus writes of in Pimander.

The Tortoise

From magic Thrace, O delerium!
My sure fingers sound the strings.
The creatures pass to the sounds
Of my tortoise, and the songs I sing.

Sirens

When the sirens sing again...
He is sitting on a hill
A vapid night is crawling through the vale
The trees are fangs of transiency
The demons forge hammers and nails
When the sirens sing again...
He will travel all the ways
That lead to the unknown lands
Time has distorted his view
An amen in his due
When the sirens sing again...

Hari-krishna Stomp Wagon

I got this can of gasoline, you know what i mean
I got it just for burnin' and it keeps the sirens turnin'
Turning down existence it seems to burn all by itself
I wish that something would happen just so i'd get a reaction
From all these bucks i'm earnin', it keeps the sirens turnin'
Turnin' down existence it seems to burn all by itself
And we don't care
So i just keep on smiling while all the bad compiling
My teeth are white and burning, it keeps the sirens turnin'
