I Am Shaky Today

I AM SHAKY TODAY

I am shaky today-
Why I am not sure
But after all I have been through
And after all I have done
And all I have learned
And all the many times I have gotten through shakiness in the past
I am shaky today
As if all my life and its lessons have been for nothing
And I cannot control a simple mood-
I am shaky today
Like the earth might open up and swallow me forever -
I am shaky –Shaky-
After all these years
I have learned nothing-
I am so so ashamed-
Shaky still now while writing this poem.

Singing My Songs

Now when I sing my voice is shaky,
shaky beyond repair.
But inside I hear a voice that's achy,
achy from years of wear.

But I sing regardless of the voice
because I must, my dear.
And as I do I compose myself
so as not to cry a tear.

For the songs are solace for my heart
and were written to be heard.
I can't remember what came first,
the melody or the word?

But what does it matter the order of things
as long as the song takes form?
I sing it with my shaky voice
and the feeling I get is warm.

Paper Bag

I was staring at the sky, just looking for a star
To pray on, or wish on, or something like that
I was having a sweet fix of a daydream of a boy
Whose reality I knew, was a hopeless to be had
But then the dove of hope began its downward slope
And I believed for a moment that my chances
Were approaching to be grabbed
But as it came down near, so did a weary tear
-i thought it was a bird, but it was just a paper bag
-hunger hurts, and I want him so bad, oh it kills
Cuz I know Im a mess he dont wanna clean up
I got to fold cuz these hands are too shaky to hold
-hunger hurts, but starving works, when it costs too much to love
And I went crazy again today, looking for a strand to climb
Looking for a little hope
Baby said he couldnt stay, wouldnt put his lips to mine,
And a fail to kiss is a fail to cope
I said, honey, I dont feel so good, dont feel justified

Separation Soon

Stage stage succeeds to sunder what
Evolved together for a while.
Page follows page until forgot
Are smiles that once caught sunny smile.
Rage follows rage, one cold, one hot,
As end awaits a stressful trial -
Trouble bursting bubble plot -
Intense unwinds to reconcile
One to one’s lot unties love's knot.
No balm spleen calms - scene volatile
Sheds shaky sighs for baby's cot,
Or sight of Spring forget-me-not.
One rage encaged until old age
No pages leaves for sot or sage.

Shaemus

We will go no more to Shaemus, at the Nip,
for sly innuendo and an Oporto Flip,
the rough but tender voice, the wide-mouthed grin,
the steady-unsteady hand that poured the gin:

memory, that flew back years to find a name,
found it, and fetched it up, still just the same;
the shaky footsteps, and then the shaky kidding:
you, the big business man, outbid, outbidding,

the mystery man, the man of deep affairs,
highbrow, and playboy, and friend of millionaires:
and you, the lovers, whose love was in your faces—

Friend Are You Qualified?

The Bible says beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News,
And The Lord Himself started The Church with twelve unschooled Jews.

You don't need a college degree behind your name to sow good seed,
A deep love for Jesus and a real concern for people is all you need.

To share God's Word with others you need but just one qualification,
Friend you must have experienced The Lord's Glorious Sanctification.

The Church's start was quite shaky is the true fact of the matter,
Instead of boldly embracing The Cross the Apostles chose to scatter.

And by Peter who said he would never, Christ was three times denied,
It wasn't until The Spirit came upon him that he was changed inside.

Just days prior they argued who would sit at The Lord's right hand,
Now with The Cross behind them, each of them struggled to understand.

With grief now upon them they gathered together but filled with fear,
This friend would change completely when The Lord would again appear.
