Quotes about recognise

It Happens All The Time

It is strange how sometimes
we can recognise someone instantly
after a distance of years,
yet others we do not recognise at all.
This has happened a number of times to me.
The one I thought I would recognise
I could easily passed them on the street,
yet the ones who are strangers
I recognise instantly.
There is no logic in this,
but it happens all the time.

0014 A Hindu Temple Speaks

How can I, a temple, persuade you
that the boundless,
the limitless,
the eternal,
the One,
exist?

I could tell you that
only those who are bound
recognise the boundless,
only those who are limited
recognise the limitless,
only those who are mortal
recognise the eternal
only those who feel themselves many
recognise the One

or I could tell you that
only boundlessness tells you you are bound;
only limitlessness shows you your limits,

The Insect

From Camoweal to Windywoe, from Windywoe to Thirstyville,
We'll drag the line around the map, along the plain, and up the hill;
Scross the desert, to the swamp, across the swamp and up the rise.
'Our ' Sacred Rights must be preserved, 'our' claims you'll have to recognise.

One night, while others were abed,
With weary eyes and aching head,
I pored for hours and hours upon a map,
Till dots and lines began to swim.
'Suggested routes' grew blurred and dim,
And then, I think, I must have had a nap.

But, with a start,it seemed to me,
I sat boolt upright suddenly,
And gazed, with staring eyes, before me straight;
For there, upon my inkwell's brim,
With aspect most grotesque and grim,
Methought a large, fat, hairy spider sate.

Daddy, Put Down The Bottle

Through the looking glass
of my bottle of wine,
I see the world in hazy colours
within this oblivion of mine.
A voice rings out from somewhere,
one I barely recognise.
“Daddy, put down the bottle
and become again a friend of mine.”

I look around at muddled faces
with eyes half awake
and my befuddled brain
fails to record where I am.
I raise an awkward smile
to someone I cannot recognise.
“Daddy, put down the bottle
and become again a friend of mine.”

I steady myself at the table
my balance has lost its touch.

Work or Reflection

Now, I always have preserved a certain attitude
Quite definite in reference to Work
('Tis futility concealing
That I have the Weary Feeling
And tendency perennial to shirk)
Still, I always strive to recognise the principle
That earnest, steady toil is ever best;
So that, having recognised it,
Not to say idealised it,
I would fain lay down my pen and take a rest.

For, you understand, to recognise a principle
Is patently a virtue in itself.
After that you have the option,
Of its strenuous adoption,'
Or the placing of it gently on a shelf.
For myself, I'm forced to own that though my theory's
A thing of beauty, even in the rough,
Dearth of cash supplies good reasons,
With the Passing of the seasons,

Let's Go Home Honey / Hajdemo Kuci Duso

She was sitting at a corner
A certain corner of a street made of cardboard
With a cardboard in a cardboard
A dinar fake of gold shining
Her fingers stretching accordion
Like sticky dough that won't go off the hands
She was playing playing so awfully
Her voice cold broken broken fingers blue
Stretching spiders down the scale D-minor
Of a morning full being sung for a dinar
For a dinar a happiness for two dinars the two
She was screaming barefoot each black under her nails
Each black on her tiny teeth
Each black in her hair
Each black in her eyes
She was playing
She was playing for the people
Mottled coats passing by in their buttonedness
That address each other with you
With what's new and how are you

Celluloid Heroes

Everybodys a dreamer and everybodys a star,
And everybodys in movies, it doesnt matter who you are.
There are stars in every city,
In every house and on every street,
And if you walk down hollywood boulevard
Their names are written in concrete!
Dont step on greta garbo as you walk down the boulevard,
She looks so weak and fragile thats why she tried to be so hard
But they turned her into a princess
And they sat her on a throne,
But she turned her back on stardom,
Because she wanted to be alone.
You can see all the stars as you walk down hollywood boulevard,
Some that you recognise, some that youve hardly even heard of,
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame,
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.
Rudolph valentino, looks very much alive,
And he looks up ladies dresses as they sadly pass him by.
Avoid stepping on bela lugosi
cos hes liable to turn and bite,

Ben Kingsley

When I choose a role it's either because I recognise the man, or that I'm very curious to know him. If I neither recognise nor know him, then it is better that I don't play him.

0429 Who Doesn't Love Greatness?

It's one of the world's
greatest secrets
that shoudn't be:

if you recognise
an artist's greatness -
in any art -
it's because you have
greatness in yourself

otherwise
you'd never recognise it

OK?

A Date

Wait for me in the Street of Aged Lovers
At nine by our sign
You will recognise me easily
I will be wearing a sun ray coloured shirt
That is the colour of your shine

If I come first
I will recognise you even more easily
When you arrive, reality
Turns into a fairy tale
