Marriage

This institution,
perhaps one should say enterprise
out of respect for which
one says one need not change one's mind
about a thing one has believed in,
requiring public promises
of one's intention
to fulfill a private obligation:
I wonder what Adam and Eve
think of it by this time,
this firegilt steel
alive with goldenness;
how bright it shows --
"of circular traditions and impostures,
committing many spoils,"
requiring all one's criminal ingenuity
to avoid!

Touch
One touch, spark, electricity
Flame burns hot and viciously
Microscopic, glittery
Catalystic energy
Time need glow so flickery
Scintillation, glittering
Ember, heat, so viciously
Pulsing flow

In 1935 I was living in paradise, I had a friend up in cicero.
We used to go out to the track, wed knock a few whiskeys back.
Id lose my shirt and then I would lose my way home
I was driving my stutz black hawk through justice in the dark,

She was standing by the road in an incandescent glow,
My heart stood still, my foot slammed on the brakes.
She said please, please would you dignify my wish?
Im trying to get to heaven, could you tell me where that is?
On a wild chicago night, with a wind howling white,
I caught my first sign of resurrection mary.
I was trembling like a leaf, I was scared beyond belief,
After all my conscience aint that clear.
I used to work for mickey finn, I did the numbers for big jim
Perhaps my day of reckoning lies here?

Green Circle

You are peeling me off
like a crab.
Time has sunk very low.

For the hungry kids
who was growing crab apples?

Creating art,
arriving between the pubes.

A microfossil
roosting within me.
I could live without oxygen.

Incandescent,
the liquid wounds.
I will not send any salvo.

At The First Sign Of Early Morning Light (Sicilian Septet)

At the first sign of early morning light
there is something strange and incandescent
that is disposing of the darkest night
and when it is over, suddenly spent,
my very own eyes have got the first sight
of a new day that is from heaven sent
and everything is crystal clear and bright.

A shooting star
Makes it's way across the sky

Lay a million wishes
Waiting to become true

We hope
It will grant our wish
Like a genie in a bottle

Sunset, Rising Moon

Sable hills
etched flat on fragile panes,
glowing sky,
indigo fast fading
to black,
while on the edge of fire
incandescent embers
(cast from the sun
gone to create
new day)
hurry this wheeling world
on ancient paths.

But see how,
newly awakened,
the cool lady ascends,
awash in reflected glory,
full and round,
and lovely.
