The Child Is Still Alive

(in answer to Ingrid Jonker)

The child is still alive,
his spirit nobody can extinguish,
the small fists of the child hits on its mother's back
where she is carrying him
and out of control the child is crying
when his mother screams Africa and amandla
or like a Voortrekker woman with bare feet
try to find a way in the veldt to wild fruits
with snot that runs from his nose over his cheeks
where paper thin dogs run away scared
and a murderous crowd walks in the street,
but the child's voice
is swallowed by the roar of the crowd.

The whole country is degenerating
with cities becoming hovels overnight,
in anger the child lifts his fists against his father,
throws bricks and stones that fall like hail

The Birds Will Still Be Singing

Summertime withers as the sun descends
He wants to kiss you. will you condescend?
Before you wake and find a chill within your bones
Under a fine canopy of lovers dust and humourous bones
Banish all dismay
Extinguish every sorrow
Eternity stinks, my darling. thats no joke
Dont waste your precious time pretending youre
Heartbroken
There will be tears and candles
Pretty words to say
Spare me lily-white lillies
With the awful perfume of decay
Banish all dismay
Extinguish every sorrow
If Im lost or Im forgiven
The birds will still be singing
Its so hard to tear myself away
Even when you know its over
Its too much to say.

A Poem On The Last Day - Book III

The book unfolding, the resplendent seat
Of saints and angels, the tremendous fate
Of guilty souls, the gloomy realms of woe,
And all the horrors of the world below,
I next presume to sing. What yet remains
Demands my last, but most exalted, strains.
And let the Muse or now affect the sky,
Or in inglorious shades for ever lie.
She kindles, she's inflamed so near the goal;
She mounts, she gains upon the starry pole;
The world grows less as she pursues her flight,
And the sun darkens to her distant sight.
Heaven, opening, all its sacred pomp displays,
And overwhelms her with the rushing blaze!
The triumph rings! archangels shout around!
And echoing Nature lengthens out the sound!

Ten thousand trumpets now at once advance;
Now deepest silence lulls the vast expanse;
So deep the silence, and so strong the blast,

Try and don't let me grieve

Try and don't let me grieve. Come and try to extinguish
This wild onslaught of sadness that rumbles like mercury in Torricellian void.
Madness, try and forbid me to feel, come and try!
Do not let me rant on about you! We're alone-don't be shy.
Now, extinguish it, do! Only-hotter!

Abortion, Slaughterhouses, And Salvation

Abortion does not extinguish a soul..
but only delays his or her entry onto the human stage.

Slaughterhouses do not extinguish a mammal's soul
but eating the flesh of an animal is bad for the animal,
the karma and health of the human being.

Hell is not a permanent state, but a temporary
emotional condition of suffering.

God is infinite divine love
in all ways and always.
God does not sentence to permanent suffering
the children God creates.

Part Time Piece

Part time piece,
Or lover on the side...
Appeals to those appeasing,
In these times truth hide.
Just to have someone to claim,
They can ignite or extinguish your flame...
Is lame.
In the game of tasteless fashion!

Getting it on to finish...
Something quick and done,
May be fun for the moment
But the joy doesn't last for anyone.
And waiting for the phone to ring
For a scheduled fling or two...
Is such a waste of integrity.
Even when one is set aside to screw!
Like finding a toy to play with...
For those with nothing else to do!

Crow[n]ing Appreciation

CROW[N]ING APPRECIATION Kindly refer to notes

May this rhymed reel appreciation show
An insight into mind prismatic whose
Unrivalled aptitudes should make world news
Dare we delve deep beneath sweet surface glow.
Ever instincts’ sentinels tap flow,
Meditate on standards she pursues -
Awareness and autonomy won’t loose.
Undouted search from perch where most might crow
Dreaming on teaming, fearing fall below.
Excellence, integrity no excuse
MAy ever accept, though rigid rules are cues
Used more to guide than bind or keep in toe.
Destiny’s rejected. Free will traces
Extensive network independence chases.

Extensive network independence chases
Despises narrow minds, unwinds tall tales,
Upstanding and outstanding spirit sails

An Electronic Prayer

From beyond a message has come
Slowly the last forever has begun
Turn around its revolution
Divine signs must move with the times
Even so they try to mystify
Communications fading with the past
Were sending a cypher a code to be cracked
By a curious someone we need to attract
Pray for me
(pray for me)
The message endlessly
(the message endlessly)
Repeating constantly
(repeating constantly)
Can anyone hear ?
Pray for me
(pray for me)
Be a part of me
As I disappear
(as I disappear)

Metamorphoses: Book The Ninth

Theseus requests the God to tell his woes,
Whence his maim'd brow, and whence his groans arose
Whence thus the Calydonian stream reply'd,
With twining reeds his careless tresses ty'd:
Ungrateful is the tale; for who can bear,
When conquer'd, to rehearse the shameful war?
Yet I'll the melancholy story trace;
So great a conqu'ror softens the disgrace:
Nor was it still so mean the prize to yield,
As great, and glorious to dispute the field.
The Story of Perhaps you've heard of Deianira's name,
Achelous and For all the country spoke her beauty's fame.
Hercules Long was the nymph by num'rous suitors woo'd,
Each with address his envy'd hopes pursu'd:
I joyn'd the loving band; to gain the fair,
Reveal'd my passion to her father's ear.
Their vain pretensions all the rest resign,
Alcides only strove to equal mine;
He boasts his birth from Jove, recounts his spoils,
His step-dame's hate subdu'd, and finish'd toils.

The Four Seasons : Summer

From brightening fields of ether fair disclosed,
Child of the Sun, refulgent Summer comes,
In pride of youth, and felt through Nature's depth:
He comes attended by the sultry Hours,
And ever fanning breezes, on his way;
While, from his ardent look, the turning Spring
Averts her blushful face; and earth, and skies,
All-smiling, to his hot dominion leaves.
Hence, let me haste into the mid-wood shade,
Where scarce a sunbeam wanders through the gloom;
And on the dark-green grass, beside the brink
Of haunted stream, that by the roots of oak
Rolls o'er the rocky channel, lie at large,
And sing the glories of the circling year.
Come, Inspiration! from thy hermit-seat,
By mortal seldom found: may Fancy dare,
From thy fix'd serious eye, and raptured glance
Shot on surrounding Heaven, to steal one look
Creative of the Poet, every power
Exalting to an ecstasy of soul.
