Quotes about edna

Evil Edna

Evil Edna she wore sequins to the funeral
Looked just like a gypsy
Never shed a tear
Everybody said she looked just like a hooker
Everyone mistook her for the loser of the year
Still the voices of the prophets
Tell us we should live just so
Ah Edna didn't care
Enda did not know
Two weeks later, Edna laughed at her confession
Laughed just like a gypsy
Gave the nuns a chill
Everybody said she'd never be forgiven
Everybody cursed her, said that she was ill
Still the voices of the prophets
Tell us we should live just so
Ah Edna didn't care
Oh she did not know
Just the other day I heard some people talkin'
Edna went out walkin' and she passed away

Two Women

Two women in my life,
Left impressions deep on me.
These two women did for others,
Unselfishly...
And did good deeds.

The work they did was hard,
But they never gave up!
No matter what was on their path,
I never heard them fuss or cuss.

And Clara,
And Edna...
Still have me awestruck!

My grandma,
And mama...
Left lots of love for me to touch!

The work they did was hard,

Edna

Edna, come and tranqulise me with your sweet love;
For i have been in the cold for far too long!
Come my sweet one and,
Don't let me wallow in the valley of despair;
For, i can hear your voice from afar.
Oh Edna, dreams can true in your life time!
But, i need you now than ever before;
For, i have been in this cold for far too long.

Edna's Asthma

Edna had asthma
And she used to put
This big black mask
Over her face
To help her breathe
And she talked
In short gasps
And wheezed
Between words
And had the best eyes
You could remember
And a smile that lingered
Long after she turned back
To shove the mask back on
And stood with one hand
On the table to steady herself
And the other gripping the mask
And it seemed death stood
In the wings of the house
Biding his time

Aunt Edna and Her Black Mask

Your Aunt Edna
had asthma
and she carried around
a big black

asthmatic mask
which frightened
the life out of you
especially when

she put it over
her mouth and nose
and her eyes went
big and dark

and she said
it's ok Tony
nothing to worry about
it's to help me breathe

I shall forget you presently, my dear

I shall forget you presently, my dear,
So make the most of this, your little day,
Your little month, your little half a year,
Ere I forget, or die, or move away,

And we are done forever; by and by
I shall forget you, as I said, but now,
If you entreat me with your loveliest lie
I willl protest you with my favorite vow.

I would indeed that love were longer-lived,
And vows were not so brittle as they are,
But so it is, and nature has contrived
To struggle on without a break thus far,

Whether or not we find what we are seeking
Is idle, biologically speaking.

Spring

To what purpose, April, do you return again?
Beauty is not enough.
You can no longer quiet me with the redness
Of little leaves opening stickily.
I know what I know.
The sun is hot on my neck as I observe
The spikes of the crocus.
The smell of the earth is good.
It is apparent that there is no death.
But what does that signify?
Not only under ground are the brains of men
Eaten by maggots.
Life in itself
Is nothing,
An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs.
It is not enough that yearly, down this hill,
April
Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.

Childhood is the Kingdom Where Nobody Dies

Childhood is not from birth to a certain age and at a certain age
The child is grown, and puts away childish things.
Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies.

Nobody that matters, that is. Distant relatives of course
Die, whom one never has seen or has seen for an hour,
And they gave one candy in a pink-and-green stripéd bag, or a jack-knife,
And went away, and cannot really be said to have lived at all.

And cats die. They lie on the floor and lash their tails,
And their reticent fur is suddenly all in motion
With fleas that one never knew were there,
Polished and brown, knowing all there is to know,
Trekking off into the living world.
You fetch a shoe-box, but it’s much too small, because she won’t curl up now:
So you find a bigger box, and bury her in the yard, and weep.
But you do not wake up a month from then, two months
A year from then, two years, in the middle of the night
And weep, with your knuckles in your mouth, and say Oh, God! Oh, God!
Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies that matters,
