The Usher's Charge

Now, Jurymen, hear my advice -
All kinds of vulgar prejudice
I pray you set aside:
With stern judicial frame of mind -
From bias free of every kind,
This trial must be tried!

Oh, listen to the plaintiff's case:
Observe the features of her face -
The broken-hearted bride!
Condole with her distress of mind -
From bias free of every kind,
This trial must be tried!

And when amid the plaintiff's shrieks,
The ruffianly defendant speaks -
Upon the other side;
What HE may say you need not mind -
From bias free of every kind,
This trial must be tried!

The Blame Game In The Western World

in blame game as applied in modern western world
the firemen, police, teachers, football referees
are prime targets in society no respect blame games
referees make mistakes are human thus referees
are emotion targets line crossed intensity targets
yellow cards red cards honour reason decisions

accountability television fans managers owners
massive money in first division decisions
malign referees professional exceptional top clubs
get criticism swaying referee preference selections
who referees which games which decisions
are profit potential winning decision reasons?

who will be strong have courage of fair own convictions?
who is right who is wrong is absolute own team applied bias?
verbal abuse physical abuse fueled heated on favour team bias?
where is the skill will knowledge maturity to balance bias?
poison chalice upheld tests viability of preference error decisions?
this cup of blood sweat tears pride skill honour what price paid?

Fortunately for serious minds, a bias recognized is a bias sterilized.

Albert Einstein

I believe that whoever tries to think things through honestly will soon recognize how unworthy and even fatal is the traditional bias against Negroes. What can the man of good will do to combat this deeply rooted prejudice He must have the courage to set an example by words and deed, and must watch lest his children become influenced by racial bias.

Truth In Small Doses

Always truth in small doses
For you don't know how one might react.
To know all the facts.
They might see it as attack.
Personally, honestly.
The point has been made with a stone of jade.
Their is no escape.
Denial for the existence of your survival.
It just cant be.
No
Never
Not in my world.
Abandon all realities, then you will see behind those closed doors.
Open and come forth once more.
Bias upon bias.
A belief that causes me to ache.
All for the sake of causing a little less pain.
The mercy of the insane.
Come on we all should ride this train.
But the diagnose would not be so grim.

Effects Of Discrimination

I lived a life of social pain,
Many heartaches and strain,
No one ever seemed to care
Of the torment I had to bare.

I lived with a bundle of emotional trouble,
My hopes and dreams seemed to crumble.
I encountered vocal and biased receptions,
Perservered, but never gained acceptance.

Every day I tried my very best,
But I am not treated like the rest.
I shed many tears in the dark,
Skeptical of being a member of the ark.

Bias people look down at me as less,
But I think I am as good as the rest.
I was always told to knit my brow,
It seems I could never learn how.

Mr. Darcy

Is Obama Mr. Darcy,
fighting prejudice with pride,
or is it simply that he’s classy,
superior, and rarely snide?
Until with Hillary he dances
as Darcy would not with Miss Bennet
he’ll not succeed Bill with romances
in the White House, and the Senate
will be the only place where he
can demonstrate, while laughing at
himself, that he’s not truly lost in
a world where every Democrat
must be more feminist than Austen.
Though pride’s abominable, it
is far less reprehensible
than sensibility sans wit
in women who aren’t sensible.

Inspired by Maureen Dowd’s Op-Ed article in the NYT on August 3,2008 (“Mr. Darcy Comes Courting”:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Barack Obama must continue to grovel to Hillary Clinton’s dead-enders, some of whom mutter darkly that they will not only not vote for him, they will never vote for a man again. Obama met for an hour Tuesday with three dozen top Hillaryites at a hotel here, seeking their endorsement and beguiling their begrudging. He opened the session by saying that he knew there had been frustration about what they saw as sexism during the primary. The Los Angeles Times reported that Hillary die-hards want to enshrine a whine in the Democratic platform about how the primaries “exposed pervasive gender bias in the media” and call on party leaders to take “immediate and public steps” to denounce any perceived bias in the future. That is one nutty idea. Perhaps it is because feminists are still so busy cataloging past slights to Hillary that they have failed to mount a vivid defense of Michelle Obama, who has taken over from Hillary as the one conservatives like to paint as a harridan….

Stranger in Strange Crowd

STRANGER IN STRANGE CROWD

Dreams stranger’s path divide
from crowd’s uneven t[h]read
who's tissue, issues poorly understood, through dread
is left behind, swirls second rate as flotsam on life's tide,
noise windmills, senses silent, life-blood sped,
bled white, so often fearing fear, by wisdom wide,
unblessed, unsteady set sights low instead.

Despite stress, sentiments denied, imagination set aside,
stranger story stores till head heeds heart, until desires well led
fire understanding rich allied with empathy sustaining ride.
Swift Pegasus is supplied
with neither saddle, A to Zed accoutrements life tears to shreds
when vested interests, motives pure collide.

Defy temptations of soft ride
along straight road which, comfort fed,
