Quotes about barnyard

Little Red Rooster

All right, listen now. at this time I would like to introduce a friend of ours,
A very talented guy named john sebastian. come on man.
Man, thats what I call a new york joint, man!
You can pick your teeth with a new york joint!
Well, Im the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow the day.
Little red rooster
Too lazy to crow the day.
Keep everything in the barnyard
Upset in every way.
Dogs begin to bark
The hounds begin to howl.
Dogs begin to bark and
The hounds begin to howl.
Look out strange cat people
The roosters on the prowl.
Yeah, dogs begin to bark
The hounds begin to howl.
Dogs begin to bark
The hounds begin to howl.

Aspiration

When I was daft (as urchins are),
And full if fairy lore,
I aimed an arrow at a star
And hit - the barnyard door.

I've shot at heaps of stars since then,
but always it's the same -
A barnyard door has mocked me when
Uranus was my aim.

So, I'll shoot starward as of yore,
Though wide my arrows fall;
I'd rather hit a big barn door
Then never aim at all.

Brain Washing

Ooh-ooh
Old mr. joe, he build a house away
On top of some hill
Old mr. joe knew he had to go, so he
He got right down and wrote bank will
He say now, heres to mother hen
And her chicken, lord have mercy now
Master, will you take a roll in the mud
Like you know you should?
The old barnyard, the old barnyard
Birds and the chick, ooh-wee
Whos got to watch out for brother mongoose
With his top hap and walking-stick?
Its just the poors brain washing
(poors ...) they told me a long time ago,
Its just the poors brain washing, ooh-wee
(poors brain washing) now look at a thing like this
Cinderella and her long lost fellow
In the midnight hour, she lost her silver slipper
Humpty dumpty sat on a wall

Daddy Went Walkin

My old dad went a walkin one day,
Pushing tall weeds right outta his way,
My old dad went a walkin one day,
Hey now, hey now
Corduroy pants and an old plaid shirt,
Daddy went a walkin just to feel the earth,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now
Old man crossing the road,
Youve got to let him go,
Old man crossing the road,
Hes feelin fine
Daddy went a ridin in his old car,
Took the dog with him cause it aint too far,
Daddy went ridin in his old car,
Hey now, hey now
Brown leather boots and an old straw hat,
Daddys getting wood with the barnyard cat,
Got a little dirty but thats all right,
Hey now, hey now

A Dignity

as the peacock
struts its fan of feathers
like a rainbow
in the barnyard

the hen keeps its
own home
protecting its chicks
around its feathers
from the invasion of
the rat

A Question

Whene’er I feed the barnyard folk
My gentle soul is vexed;
My sensibilities are torn
And I am sore perplexed.

The rooster so politely stands
While waiting for his food,
But when I feed him, what a change!
He then is rough and rude.

He crowds his gentle wives aside
Or pecks them on the head;
Sometimes I think it would be best
If he were never fed.

And so I often stand for hours
Deciding which is right—
To impolitely have enough,
Or starve and be polite.

Born In Baryards

Born in barnyards, see how roosters strut,
searching for a hen that is a slut.
Wherever men are born they do not care
about most women till they see them bare.
Their eyes that flash like moonshine look around
like roosters for a hen, and once they’ve found
a bird they like they do not need to beg,
and leave her long before she’s laid an egg.
Roosters in the morning crow in time
to wake their counterparts who’re with a hen,
ridiculous sometimes, sometimes sublime,
like roosters always, born as barnyard men.

On Two Sisters Whose Deaths Were Together

IN woods remote, hid in the mountain hollows,
Doves there are that have a gentler beauty,
Doves that are marked as by a poet's image,
And hence are called Doves of the Wounded Heart.

And such ye were, and we could never learn the
Call that would bring you to our breasts, our hands!
And such ye were, and ye were aliens in our
Barnyard-world Doves of the Wounded Heart!

You who were proud no storm had ever turned your
Flight, and you who were her cherished one
May ye have found, hid in your mountain hollows,
Your wood remote, Doves of the Wounded Heart!

Chagall At The Israel Museum

CHAGALL AT THE ISRAEL MUSEUM

Beauty surprises,
There is a joy which only color sings,
I have seen this world before
I did not know how moving it still is,
,
This is really what love is,
Surrounded by flowers
Deep in each other eyes
And floating far away
What youth was.

Here and now
And yet lost in our grandparents dreams
These shtetl faces and these barnyard images

A world lost
Yet here more with us
