You're Naturally Good If You Know It

Why not just have a kind heart?
There is nothing to gain in meanness,
There is no salvation in alienating yourself from love,
Hate will only buy you a heart attack or an ulcer,
Anxiety will only make your hair gray,

Judgement

Can you tell what you saw?
Tell us where was righteous law?
How many wilful people, witness crime?
Unhidden crime outlined, juvenile daytime?
Crime committed congested local store?

Could you tell who revealingly, stupidly stole?

What they homeward hidden bore?
How much items cost at stolen social core?
Which police ask tedious, alienating questions?
Fruit confronts fraternal, bribe parole suggestions?
Which question baits heaves hardest score?

The Night Flyer

Carrying silence on its wings
Over the night's city
The bat moans unheard by men.
Softly it flies in hunt for food
The noise down below seems distant,
An alienating sound he never was a part of,
His flight engraved on the pale moon.
There's so little time, morning will come soon.
But the city spews up only soot
His search is despairing for a tree bearing fruit.
Oblivious life noisily flows below
Consigning the bat to a death of doom,
There's no food and morn will come soon.

the past is skinny
it does not speak much
it goes to church
everyday

it is shy, but it thinks
much better, deeper and
probing like
a scalpel to the
gum and decaying teeth

it is what you only know
and you are surprised
how skin deep things were
until you wake up
and embrace the wonders of
change

Mother!

Kind and adorable
So much affection.
She listens...so loveable
Time dares no tension
I've seen love wane
Heard of beauty
Withering with age
Still hers awe my thinking
Alienating any ode I made
The sugared clarity of coffee trees, blooming
The beauty of the sun
The peace I feel with the moon, soothing
The fresh smell of rainfall
