Quotes about algae

For example, in my own State of Arizona, an Israeli scientist is working with an Arizona company on a demonstration project involving a very fast-growing algae which can be used to power a biomass energy plan.

The Civil War

I am torn in two
but I will conquer myself.
I will dig up the pride.
I will take scissors
and cut out the beggar.
I will take a crowbar
and pry out the broken
pieces of God in me.
Just like a jigsaw puzzle,
I will put Him together again
with the patience of a chess player.

How many pieces?

It feels like thousands,
God dressed up like a whore
in a slime of green algae.
God dressed up like an old man
staggering out of His shoes.
God dressed up like a child,

Early Works-A Brook

Near fields, a mellow shade of green
and trees where lovers lean
there runs a brook
like something that is visualised in a book.
Pebbles algae green and round
are not disturbed by a sound,
where fish swim and glide
the way no author could describe.

Early Works-Catacombs of Natural Beauty

The skies gentler shade than the seas
is hidden momentarily in the breeze.
The clouds that are colourfully crystallised
by the warm beckoning sun in our eyes.
The little bird that swoops and dives
flies the freeways of the skies.

While deep in the evergreen below,
the breeze bends flowers to and fro.
As gentle waters of the stream
reflects the sun in diamond shaped gleams.
As beneath the rippling waters surface
algae and underwater weed is spread out like a velvet green sash.

Signs of the Times

Signs of the times in the good ‘ol USA

G.E and G.M downgraded to letters of the alphabet
People living out of their Hummers
U.S. economy outpaced by Tibet
Bank officers indicted in growing numbers

Drive-by shootings reduced to dissing and shouting
Between glassless windows of derelict cars up on blocks
McDonald’s dollar menu becomes haute cuisine
Waste paper refers to your savings and stocks

Insufficient funds refers to your bank’s money
Treasury Dept. seized by Asian lenders for late debt payments
Swimming pools used to grow real tasty algae
Grandkids moving in with mom and dad, who’ve moved in with their own parents

Having a job and feeling guilty about it
Not having a job and feeling useless and disrespected
Applying for jobs and feeling hopeless throughout it

Time To Turn Over A New Leaf

The Plant Kingdom isn't all sweetness and light.
Some plants digest animal life
And destroy buildings and spread diseases.
However, these Godmade creatures
Have their place in the Universe
And deserve to be protected.
That's why trees are continually planted
To replace the ones we use.
Plant a Tree is part of our culture.
It isn't some politically correct philosophy,
It's an essential revitalisation of Nature.
We breathe out carbon dioxide
Which the plants absorb and exhale oxygen.
We act in symbiosis.

We exist by the Grace of God,
The Creator of all things.
Plants can't create us with our fantastic thoughts
And developments as we ourselves
Live and die and are replaced by our offspring.

Stromatolites

Shallow sills and sea-grass meadows
channel hyper-saline pools.
Blue-green algae's limestone pillows
still obey Archaean rules.

Planet's first apartment dwellers,
submarine with penthouse suite.
Archives laid in rock lamellas,
remnants from a past elite.

At Bottom on the Sea

In an instant, I was plunged down to the bottom of the sea
For a year or so in darkness, I barely knew that I was me

Didn't move, didn't think, immersed in deep despair
When no longer you can breathe, you've no need for land or air

Sleeping on the sea floor, perhaps to dream it all away
Then wake to my own screaming, lungs filling up with briny bay
Saturated with exhaustion, struggled up, thinking of homeland

To foraged on algae and plankton that I sifted through the sand
Waterlogged gut and aching heart, mind rocky run aground
Awareness of how abruptly I'd been knocked overboard and downed

But others remain living, who need my survival and are believing
That my affirmation is required that it is okay to keep on living
When one irreplaceable facet of the group has taken leave

So I undertake the struggle, to get back to the air and light
It's been years now, I won't lie, I'm still seeking to win this fight

Hazy Summer Days

Shimmering light from the heat of summer
makes my eyelids close.
The days are humid, hot and damp
and wet are the spots on my clothes.
No relief in sight as yet
and the stench from the algae invades
the sweetened aroma of roses
and the sparkle in them fades.

Once again I pray for relief
to come in the form of rain.
But when it comes it doesn't help
and so I do remain
sullen and withdrawn again
until this heat wave breaks.
Cooler raindrops are so in need
and that is all it takes

to brighten my mood and open my lids
to view the clearing air.

Ezra Pound

Commission

Go, my songs, to the lonely and the unsatisfied,
Go also to the nerve-racked, go to the enslaved-by-convention,
Bear to them my contempt for their oppressors.
Go as a great wave of cool water,
Bear my contempt of oppressors.

Speak against unconscious oppression,
Speak against the tyranny of the unimaginative,
Speak against bonds.
Go to the bourgeoise who is dying of her ennuis,
Go to the women in suburbs.
Go to the hideously wedded,
Go to them whose failure is concealed,
Go to the unluckily mated,
Go to the bought wife,
Go to the woman entailed.

Go to those who have delicate lust,
Go to those whose delicate desires are thwarted,
Go like a blight upon the dulness of the world;
