Rathcoole's Alfie Cooney is no stranger to fame
In Duhallow and beyond his is a household name
The Manager of Rathcoole Rovers is known far and wide
And credit to him never can be denied.

Rathcoole's Alfie Cooney is one free of guile
And he is one who never finds it hard to smile
So helpful and kind hearted people like him are rare
For others he is one who genuinely care.

He is now in his sixties years beyond his prime
But for a worthy cause one generous with his time
In the cause of humanity he has made his mark
And in his honour in Rathcoole they have Cooney Park.

From his association with Gaelic Games and Soccer his reputation did grow
And in Duhallow Alfie is one many know
Of due to his Community work and his easy going way
He will be involved with Sport till his life's final day.

Alfie The Christmas Tree

This song was first released on the a christmas together album. it is the only album it has been released on. it is a poem.
Did you ever hear the story of the christmas tree
Who just didnt want to change the show
He liked living in the woods and playing with squirrels
He liked icycles and snow
He liked wolves and eagles and grizzly bears
And critters and creatures that crawled
Why bugs were some of his very best friends
Spiders and ants and all
Now thats not to say that he ever looked down
On a vision of twinkled lights
Or on mirrored bubbles and peppermint canes
And a thousand other delights
And he often had dreams of tiny reindeer
And a jolly old man in a sleigh
Full of toys and presents and wonderful things
And a story of christmas day
Oh, alfie believed in christmas alright
He was full of christmas cheer

Boxing Day Blues

My dad got on his bicycle to ride to Spondon village,
to say Happy Christmas to his dear old mum.
He rode across the fields and by the River Derwent,
it was a frosty morning, but bright in the sun.

He left the riverside and climbed up by the bridge
onto the carriageway and along the cycle path.
At the railway crossing he cut off down the lane,
by the scrap dealers and an old tin bath.

Across the level crossing by the side of the station
over the canal bridge and pass the Moon Hotel.
Onward towards Lodge Lane and his next turn right
where he hit the pavement and very nearly fell.

Number two Willowcroft Road was his destination,
he wasn’t expected, so his mum would be surprised.
Catching his breath for a second at the open back door,
his mother said, “Well, you’re a sight for sore eyes.”

Photographs of fancy tricks to get your kicks at sixty-six
He thinks of all the lips that he licks
And all the girls that he's going to fix
She gave a little flirt, gave herself a little cuddle
But there's no place here for the mini-skirt waddle
Capital punishment, she's last year's model
They call her natasha when she looks like elsie
I don't want to go to chelsea
Oh no it does not move me
Even though i've seen the movie
