Facile credo, plures esse Naturas invisibiles quam visibiles in rerum
universitate. Sed horum omnium familiam quis nobis enarrabit ? et gradus et
cognationes et discrimina et singulorum munera ? Quid agunt ? quae loca
habitant ? Harum rerum notitiam semper ambivit ingenium humanum, nunquam

hodiernae vitae minutiis se contrahat nimis, et tota subsidat in pusillas

L'Albatros (The Albatross)

Qui hante la tempête et se rit de l'archer;
Exilé sur le sol au milieu des huées,
Ses ailes de géant l'empêchent de marcher.

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

Hear the rime of the ancient mariner
See his eye as he stops one of three
Mesmerises one of the wedding guests
Stay here and listen to the nightmares of the sea.
And the music plays on, as the bride passes by
Caught by his spell and the mariner tells his tale.
Driven south to the land of the snow and ice
To a place where nobodys been
Through the snow fog flies on the albatross
Hailed in gods name, hoping good luck it brings.
And the ship sails on, back to the north
Through the fog and ice and the albatross follows on.
The mariner kills the bird of good omen
His shipmates cry against what hes done
But when the fog clears, they justify him
And make themselves a part of the crime.
Sailing on and on and north across the sea
Sailing on and on and north til all is calm.
The albatross begins with its vengeance
A terrible curse a thirst has begun

Albatross Draggers

Sad are the grabbers dragging,
An albatross displayed.
As a familiar routine...
Meant to be seen daily on the scene.
Yet flavored in dismay,
With a bitterness each day.

Typical and analytical are they,
To be living to be gimmicked.
And be living in such limits.
And...

Airborne for philip housiaux

Always airborne an Albatross
can easily vast oceans cross
They eat and sleep upon the wing
and rarely land for anything.
But even Albatrosses mate
although more often isolate.
They come together as a pair.
You cannot raise chicks in the air.
But once the young have learnt to fly.
Received the freedom of the sky.
They the resume the seperate
life style they appreciate.
An Albatross prefers to be
left alone completely free.

Early Works - Men With Wings

For years untold men have looked to the sky,
have tried to build wings on which to fly,
like Icraus who with his wings of wax
soared in the sky like a bird,
but who flew to close to the sun
where his wings melted and to the sea fell.
Other men came and other men tried,
in failure their names in time hide,
but soon the missing element was found,
the element, which could get them off the ground.
An Albatross of plastic wings
soars through the early morning sky
across a channel of salty waves
of which it glides just above.
From Eagle and Dragonfly,
man now has the ability to fly.

Author’s Note:
The above poem was written as a tribute to the men of the Gossamer Albatross who crossed the English Channel on the 12th June 1979.

Philology Recapitulates Ontology, Poetry Is Ontology

Faithful to your commandments, o consciousness, o

Holy bird of words soaring ever whether to nothingness or
to inconceivable fulfillment slowly:

And still I follow you, awkward as that dandy of ontology
and as awkward as his albatross and as

another dandy of ontology before him, another shepherd
and watchdog of being, the one who

Talked forever of forever as if forever of having been
and being an ancient mariner,

Hesitant forever as if forever were the albatross

Hung round his neck by the seven seas of the seven muses,

and with as little conclusion, since being never concludes,

The Widow’s Watch

‘twas a moondim night on the widow’s watch
for counting the days you had gone to sea
on the railing I carved a tiny notch
as if the scars, would bring you back to me

the albatross sings, I turn a deaf ear
as petticoats rustle in the sea breeze
the ocean will claim you, ‘tis this I fear
my mind screams a silent “O darling, please”

then in the dim light, I spy a small ship
out o’er the horizon appears a sail
I burst to the stairway lest I should slip
and ran to the docks my skirt in a trail

as the ship pulled in you smiled at me
I hugged you so tight, my man from the sea

Red Baron / Blue Max

The son of a major, Prussian nobleman
His name bestowed by a holy Roman
The war broke out, and looked to the air
24 hours of training he was there
100 miles an hour, top speed his plane would fly
and if he flew behind you, you know you're sure to die
Eighty kills, that are confirmed
While other pilots have so much more to learn
Red Baron! Blue Max! The albatross flies high
Red Baron! Blue Max! He's got you in his sights
The Red-Battle Flyer
Roll right fire
He sees no faces
The ace of aces
His British quarry flew a reckless flight
A shot from the ground took the red baron's life
He flew with honor, he flew with pride
In 1918, The battle flyer died
Chorus
The red baron...Blue max!
