Quotes about snooze, page 3
Spice Girl
Bland and ordinary will not do,
They’re much too dull for the likes of you.
Plain Vanilla makes you snooze,
even chocolate is yesterdays news.
You’re a bit of a nut, Meg, it appears,
a bit hung over from ginger beers.
Your racks ‘well stocked with exotic favors.
Cinnamon stick your favorite flavor.
Cloves and garlic, Tarragon too
You’re a saucy wench, and tasty true.
But of all the spices on your shelf
I first reach for you, yourself.

A Brewed Awakening
4 A.M.- it’s much too early
It’s no surprise I’m feeling surly.
It’s cold outside and lacking light.
It feels like the middle of the night!
(When you’ve been out late and had a few
Mondays are no friend to you.)
Villainous clock that chirps and chimes
I’ll hit your snooze button one more time.
Its cold, and someone stole the covers
I reach for them as for a lover.
Alas, my larcenous spouse has taken them
I guess I’m in for a brewed awakening.

Queen Mary 2 Cut Down to Size
As I peruse to snooze
deck chaired awareness failing,
Nautical miles pass by on this
beautiful QM 2 giant gently sailing,
No finer liner cuts thru the white frilled waves
with such elegant ease
Cruising away in the
South Pacific breeze,
All though the mighty expanse of the
Pacific Ocean that it doth float
Really makes it look
just another tiny boat.

The Clock Radio
Unwelcome and unbidden
You break into my dream
You rouse my still hung over brain
And make me want to scream.
Four forty in the morning
I’m not enthused to view.
Not even” snooze” begins to soothe
The hate I feel for you.
I could have slept through music
Ignored a talk show too
But your blasted beeping buzzing
Always bores right through
I reach across to silence you
You foul and thoughtless thing
For God sakes it’s my one day off
What possessed you now to ring?

A Simple Leaf
A sculpture so beautifully designed,
Becomes a pleasure to the mind,
In colours of yellow, red and brown,
Wearing a true autumnal gown.
It had fluttered down, fully complete,
And landed gently, at my feet,
I picked it up, and then did view,
A passenger, a spider who,
Had settled there, a place to choose,
And awakening from his lengthy snooze,
Quickly skuttled off, making his escape,
Leaving me with just, the perfect shape
Of a simple leaf, with its own story,
Resting in my hand, in all its glory.

At least that's my excuse. For J.T.Ellison
Fatigue sets in more quickly now.
As passing years catch up with you.
But circumstances will allow
A quick cat nap which can only do.
A recharge of your batteries.
So do not let it worry you.
You must conserve your energies.
For things you really want to do.
I have a snooze each afternoon
A habit which I cultivate
I consider it to be a boon.
There is nothing which cannot wait.
Retirement has set me free
from any sense of urgency.

Senioritus
Sitting here waiting
Watching the clock slowly tick
Tic toc Tic toc
The days go by slowly
It's April and May is nowhere in sight
It is getting harder to wake up in the morning
Pushing the snooze button once again
Trying to find reasons to stay home
The mind is elsewhere, floating in the clouds
May is finally here
Graduation is full speed ahead
Seinoritus is getting worse
The heart is set on graduation
The mind wants to sleep in 'til noon
BAM
Graduation is finally here
That was the cure needed all along

Possessiveness
If I listen to the chirping swallow,
my nightingale sings a sad melody.
If I were lured by the perfume of Jasmine,
the face of my rose goes red.
If I take a bite of the Himalaya apple
my mango of Salem turns sour.
If I snooze in the shade of the banyan
my cool neem shrink her leaves.
If I sip some juice of orange,
my sweet grape feels cold.
If I see some smiling faces in face book,
my wife grumbles and shuts down the computer.
But, if I read some lines in my mother Tamil,
my step-mother English sprinkles a broad smile.

Woof Woof
Woof Woof,
A little puppy whining.
A tiny tail wagging,
A tiny voice barking.
Woof Woof,
A puppydog running.
Short fat legs moving.
Drool dripping from a bright pink tongue.
Woof Woof,
A young dog sniffing.
Front paws scratching the tires of a bus.
Teeth dragging out some drugs.
Woof Woof,
A dog panting.
Contented after a day of chasing birds,
Now ready for a snooze.

Doing Nothing (Inspired by Poet Miller Williams)
We do things
to keep something from doing something
the milk from expiring
the scale from cracking
the skin from wrinkling
the breasts from pointing south
We do things to make things happen
To remember that first kiss
not to freeze before a charging zoo tiger
to hope the pepper spray will finally work
not to see our secrets & lies
to finally shout BINGO
not to suffer a stroke while shooting baskets
But today
I will punch the snooze alarm at least 5 times
I will loafe on blades of grass &
sketch a purple passion flower
