Quotes about prime, page 3

When I was young for Friend Michael

When I was young and in my prime
I knew everything there was to know
I truly thought that this was so
but I discovered in due time
My knowledge wasn’t worth a dime
It’s true that it was long ago.
When I was young and in my prime
I knew all that there was to know.
Experience combined with time
reduced the size of my ego
Although progress was rather slow.
Arrogance was my greatest crime
when I was young and in my prime.

Prime Factor

Life is not fair at times!
But, it is always so;
And it is too complex for you and i.

I can't stop the moves of nature!
But, you wonder 'why';
For, it is like a new prime factor without fractions.

Life is not fair at times!
But do discover yourself in its fantasies! !
However, you should not underestimate the muse of nature.

The prime factor,
And of the dropp of water as precious as gold!
But, do not underestimate the moves of nature.

The prime factor!
For the dropp of the sperm is as precious as life;
However, life is not fair at times.

Are We Falling Short?

A provincial premier should be appointed prime minister each year,
Because we don't vote for our prime minister by name right here,
We vote for someone in his party and sometimes we're not sure,
Because the party system can sometimes be very obscure.

Or in order to elect a prime minister, we should see his name,
On a special ballot because this is a serious game,
And the religion-like party system should be rearranged,
For individuals - not parties - and not considered strange.

I realize of course that this idea will be shot down,
Appointed high aristocrats want to keep their dressing gowns,
Proportional representation and binding referendums please,
Because the way things are now; it's the parties they appease.

They say that the Senate is a place of sober second thought,
Where unknown establishment appointees are never distraught,
Did I mention we need an elected Senate and High Court?
Because under our present system we seem to fall short.

Unkown Savoir

A hero with an invisible face
A hero with unimaginable heart
A hero lost without a trace
A hero who was straight and true from the start

You were always there for me
The one who strayed from the dark
You’re the one who set me free
The one who had that certain spark

You the one with the power to stop time
Will you do me one more favor
Even when you’re no longer in your prime
Will you always be my unknown savoir

You’re the one who taught us to soar
The one who taught us to learn
The one who helped me perfect my roar
When will it finally be my turn

Old Jimmy

With the aid of walking stick he shuffles down the side street and time has left him looking stiff and gray
And truly it can be said of old Jimmy that he is one who has known a better day
Ageless father time takes care of everybody there was a time when he could run quite fast
But now he only can walk at a slow pace and all of his better days are in the past.

He was a football hero in his heyday the best on ground in nineteen forty one
The day that his club played in the Grand Final without him the Premiership could not be won
Close to his prime and in his early twenties on looking back that seems so long ago
It's true that time leaves it's mark on everybody the man who once ran fast now walking slow.

The hard games of football he played in now on him telling he has arthritis in his painful right knee
An injury that forced him into retirement when he was past his prime at thirty three
Back in the forties and fifties he was a football hero but football heroes like the seasons come and go
And that he once was a Grand Final hero is something few young people wish to know.

Old Jimmy slowly shuffles down the side walk a mere shell of the man he used to be
In forty one he starred in the Grand Final when he was near his prime at twenty three
And father time has left his mark on Jimmy and time 'tis said for anyone doesn't wait
And the grim reaper will take the king and pauper and the grim reaper will take the football great.

William Leary

William Leary is one of the famed Learys of Millstreet a Cork and Duhallow legend of the Gaelic Football game
He played football for Cork and his Club Millstreet and is now in the Duhallow sporting Hall of Fame
He once scored two goals in a Munster Final in Killarney a feat that is still talked of today
In his Gaelic Football career a remembered highlight though many great games the great one did play.

William Leary in his prime a dashing forward one of the great footballers of Millstreet
He proved a headache for opposing defenders with his ball skills he was so quick on his feet
And off of the field of play a successful business person beyond Millstreet known and liked far and wide
To his family and his many friends around Duhallow his many achievements are a sense of pride.

William Leary is now in his early seventies it has been some time since he has played football
One of the great Gaelic Footballers of Millstreet as those who watched him play can well recall
It has been four decades and a few years and that is looking back in time
When he cheered Millstreet hearts with his marvellous ball skills he was a speedy fellow in his prime.

Good to see him with his wife and family on the Millstreet web site on his induction into Duhallow's Hall of Fame
With honour he wore the Cork and Millstreet Jerseys and with honour he carries the famous Leary name
I watched him play when i was a young fellow and that is going back many years ago
He was a dashing forward in his prime years the one who left speedy defenders looking slow.

Ah, past middle age woman upon whom I gaze

Ah, past middle age woman upon whom I gaze
The measures you take to hide your waning beauty leave me amaze
You are all wrapped in colorful deceit and counterfeit labors
That so immodesty displays nature’s gone favors
With its fallacious arguments of colors and elaborate cloth
Is to the senses cunning counterfeit and cynic loath

This which your self pity practices to delete
The cruel years accumulated horrors
Constraining time to mitigate its rigors
And this oblivion and age defeat

Oh old sunken brittle woman in vain you carry such vanity
Your mask of musk is playing havoc and delirium with your own sanity
Your efforts of concealing what time jaws is peeling and revealing
Is like to play with the devil a hypocritical dealing
As any mortal being you in the path to be a cadaver, ashes, shadows ghosts
The time of your prime irreversibly forever forgotten and lost

On Becoming a Priest…

Tomorrow may not come at all;
Listen today to Jesus’ call;
Now is the time to truly act;
This is the truth of life and fact.

The man of poverty can shine,
More than the moon or sun so fine;
Humble yourself and make accord
For life, with Almighty God, Lord.

Stands before him, the Holy Cross;
God shows that Jesus Christ is boss;
The Monstrance is Christ’s earthly home;
The penitent is most welcome.

Only the soul pure can commune,
And walk or run to divine tune;
The Eucharist is prime in life,
No matter any kind of strife.

0348 Me, Royalty and Fame

I didn't wave anything at the Queen
when I saw her leaving an official reception
sitting bolt upright in the car,
still, pale, exhausted,
on her way to the next engagement
of the five or so that day.

I didn't say much to the Queen Mum
when presented to her -
some people chat with royalty when introduced
like old friends; others, even the most anti-monarchical
turn to idiot jelly. But
she sure was good in dealing with it.
A pro to her fingertips.

I didn't say anything to Prince Charles
when he opened an exhibition
that he and I had an interest in;
but I'm proud to say we pushed
the greatest man in the room

Prime Of Life

Shadows climb up the garden wall
Upon the green the first leaf falls
Its the prime of life and the king and queen
Step out into the sun, (oh yeah)
Are you feeling all right
Not feeling too bad myself
Are you feeling all right, my friend?
Footsteps run down the castle hall
To the rooms of the paper doll
Its the prime of life, where the spirit grows
And the mirror shows both ways (oh yeah)
Are you feeling all right
Not feeling too bad myself
Are you feeling all right, my friend?
When I first saw your face
It took my breath away
When I first saw your face
It took my breath away
Shadows fly up the garden wall
Upon the green the first leaf falls
