Quotes about vexation, page 2

Fundamentalism Kills

Matters not a zealot’s chosen religion
Fanaticism knows but to maim n’ kill
Man must let go of hate and vexation
Return to Sacred Self by own freewill

ROTMS

“Men have been trained to prefer ignorance to learning, and have chosen to be driven mad and wild by faith, rather than to be instructed, enlightened and improved by reason and philosophy”

Rev. Robert Taylor

Reproach Me Not

Reproach me not e'en if I earn your indignation;
Know: of us two you are to be more envied far.
Unlike my love for you, yours is sincere, unmarred
By jealousy's mistrust, its rancour and vexation.

A wretched sorcerer, who doubts himself and stifles
Faith in the magic world by his own efforts wrought
I know myself to be... I am - O bitter thought!-
Of your warm, living soul the idol cold and lifeless.

Indecision

INDECISION

by Cynthia B. Baello
July 5,2008

Annoying thing, this indecision-
Wry deceit, unjust vexation.
Waste of time and of attention,
Diverts one's thoughts,
Drains affection.

Creates a maze with one's own mind,
Directions, goals are hard to find.
Weigh the options,
And then rewind,
Not deciding
Is unkind.

------
'When we aim at nothing, we hit it

Drinking Glass

A drinking glass appeared for the esteeming,
Vexation bit the lips of the cavity so wide.
Squeezing in liquid brilliantly seemed good,
Like eating at home and not restaurants.
The night time liquified my apples and pears,
In a juicer too spoilt, far too fantastical
In the mode of contention, the style fitting.
An orchard apple tree is acceptable,
The inflexibility of the branches was caustic,
To frailly die and mislead knowingly the picker of fruit.

Then

i wish to be a river
river that runs wild and free
fee as the lark that sings
sings a melody
melody from my heart
heart that love truly
truly i wish i am the eagle
eagle flying above the sky
sky of blue and of wisdom
wisdom i sought for life
life must be shared to others
others share it too
too much vexation in life
life becomes a burden
burden can become lighter
lighter that what we want it to be
be in the loving care of God
God is the answer for all
for all are better with Him
Him who knowypu and me

Planted In The Middle Of Earth's Mire

Planted in the middle of earth's mire
A sweet flower pungent in agonizing scent
With thorns on her stem, like a brier
To protect herself, for she's heaven sent
Causing hearts to bleed and senses to die
The love filled rose, its intense emotion
Sends the lover's muse to heights above high
Flying to death with open wings in motion
Inquiring heaven, to beg for her salvation
For she yearns to die and forever be free
From her pain, from her only vexation
The mire that surrounds, and threatens she
So I pick her flower and throw her away
Into heaven's shadow, wert she yearn to stay…

The Receptionist

France is the fairest land on earth,
Lovely to heart's desire,
And twice a year I span its girth,
Its beauty to admire.
But when a pub I seek each night,
To my profound vexation
On form they hand me I've to write
My occupation.

So once in a derisive mood
My pen I nibbled;
And though I know I never should:
'Gangster' I scribbled.
But as the clerk with startled face
Looked stark suspicion,
I blurred it out and in its place
Put 'Politician.'

Then suddenly dissolved his frown;
His face fused to a grin,

Trickle, Stutter, Pluck

Trickle my waxen moon

A vertical line stood
Underneath a starbeam
A trail of perfidious gilt
An obdurate lynch
Inveigling in its silence
And intimidating
My hapless stance
I teeter in the ensnare
Of a spider's web
Cloyed by superfluous
Legs and eyes
And abundant demands
Impale and crucify
Me before I oust
Myself in this
Labyrinthine vexation

Stutter as you oscillate

Kindness

Kindness is an alien word today,
Eventually bound for extinction.

For angry words that people say
All carry tones of sheer vexation.

If words can swallow each man whole
Then we'll devour each other up,

For rage has taken each man's soul
One sentence then would be enough.

Perhaps it's time we change the tune
And lace our human words with grace

This higher form of life may soon
In time end up without a trace.

For there is only one distinction
That separates man from all the rest

John Donne

The Triple Fool

I am two fools, I know,
For loving, and for saying so
In whining poetry;
But where's that wise man, that would not be I,
If she would not deny?
Then as th' earth's inward narrow crooked lanes
Do purge sea water's fretful salt away,
I thought, if I could draw my pains
Through rhyme's vexation, I should them allay.
Grief brought to numbers cannot be so fierce,
For he tames it, that fetters it in verse.

But when I have done so,
Some man, his art and voice to show,
Doth set and sing my pain;
And, by delighting many, frees again
Grief, which verse did restrain.
To love and grief tribute of verse belongs,
But not of such as pleases when 'tis read.
Both are increasèd by such songs,
