Quotes about senile, page 2

A Travelling Sage

There once was a travelling sage

Who lived to a very old age.

Well becoming quite senile,

With problems (yes penile) ,

Here the reader may choose:

1) He kept his packed trunk in a cage.

or

2) He packed his small trunk in a rage.

Dogma in My Hymn

Dogma in my hymn: I am God
Dog, as a devil deified; deified, lived as a dog
Dog sex, even if fine, vexes God.
Dog's a fool: aloof as God.

Senile felines-
Was it a car or a cat I saw?
Stack cats;
Step on no pets
Drab as a fool, aloof as a bard.

James Joyce

On the Beach at Fontana

Wind whines and whines the shingle,
The crazy pierstakes groan;
A senile sea numbers each single
Slimesilvered stone.

From whining wind and colder
Grey sea I wrap him warm
And touch his trembling fineboned shoulder
And boyish arm.

Around us fear, descending
Darkness of fear above
And in my heart how deep unending
Ache of love!

It's not a Pantomime

Hey! My little cute rat friends
Please return my poor denture
You have stolen last night.
Darling! Could I borrow
One of your old knickerbockers
As my stuff stuck in the laundry room
And still wet it seems,
Don't forget today is my interview for 'dog washers'?

*To my homeless senile friend who salutes me sometimes.

Journeywork

What do you expect of this aging physique?
He closes his gloomy eyes but not blind
And he is like a quiet cup of tea but not dumb.
He never listens but not deaf.
He is a Man once pushed a big Mountain
But the *Pickwickian already senile
And only the mountain cries.

* The simple, Goodhearted hero of Charles Dicken's Pickwick Papers.

Beyond goodbye

live beyond destruction
even waiting is wasting
every sweet goodbye

find thou its nothing,
for forgetting is a lasting enigma
of every ageless senile

look what is essential.
the mind keeps on remembering,
like the knight warrior of
the golden age without a sword
to glitter

search and fulfill, that only
you the soul can retell, for the night come
empty but only the shadow of the past
glad to find the light

On Chittoe Heath

The crow cries out in anger
As the senile branches scrape the sky
And past the trees a stranger
Picks his way through the dead land.
The forest broods in silence beneath the sullen clouds
And there is no comfort for the passer-by
Who does not sense the danger
That the crow sees in the secret messages
From sky and stone.

Suddenly a silver flash, and a crack of thunder
Splits the earth.

The wanderer has never felt so alone.

Autumn

Use our skeletons, absurdly laid across the ground
Write in the sandy beach: youth. Then carry the senile father upon your back
Endless daytime the direction broken off
Animal dread is filling our poetry

And whose voice can reach the autumn midnight a lasting discord
Conceal our skeletons, absurdly laid across the ground—
Autumn's already coming.
Not the faintness of pity or affection: autumn's already coming.

Buried in Poetry

Dodging deadly ditches
Dressed as luxurious divans
By the dashing dubious
To entice and entrap
My fortunate feet
I ditch the fastidious flesh
The bane of man
Dragging one backward
Like a century old fox
Full of wiles but senile and hobbly
And make poetry my own grave
Comfortable and copious
With pen and paper
Burying myself alive deep inside
Desiring no farewell nor funeral
And crave no resurrection
In this cacophonous earth

Such Good Friends

Such Good Friends

they were friends
good friends

they became old
they were still friends
still good friends

their wives died
their children went away
their cats became senile

just two old men
just two friends
just two good friends

one evening
as the sun was going down
they made a vow
