The forbidden needn’t be abnormal.

In a zoo at Agartala, I myself witnessed
a scene, where an old monkey, perching
on a bar, away, engrossed himself
in masturbation. With no sixth sense,
can animals err? Is then that act natural?

Do not allow me

All the trappings dropped
Some pretensions still clinging
I stand
At the crossroads
Of life's intersecting paths
Busy passers-by engrossed
In routine businesses
Walk hand in hand
Hands across shoulders

Their faces with sprinkled
Talcum powder and pantomime paint...
