My Canadian Chronicles 001

A friend once said to me
that he never had the adventures
that I have when I go on holiday.
Maybe he was right.
Today while sitting in the airport
lounge nervously waiting for our flight
when suddenly from the loudspeaker came.
“The fire detector has been activated in your section.
Please go to the nearest emergency exit.”
Now I was already having kittens
just thinking of the flight.
Now with that announcement
I was having puppies as well
and so started my day in the usual Harris style.
They say things can only get better.
All by body parts are crossed
and I hope they are right.

I Am Wine

I am wine for you to drink and extract pleasure, just slowly,
So that alcohol is consumed to deter, just slowly.

When the substance floats away and crumbles beneath the skin of the Earth,
A plant has been contained in our hands, the hand is the detector, just slowly.

Living is loved for its juices, the very amount is not worth knowing,
Like the speed of the Earth’s orbit, the detester, just slowly.

May life begin again for the best outcome and this love,
The world is cooked with it, and living is a detailer, just slowly.

Loneliness is the solution to the problems of Love,
May the alcohol burn to exist in a flood, Love is a member, just slowly.

May life enchant the believer and the careless water,
May Loving Men and Women see my wine, and me as mediator, just slowly.

Sam's Ring

The other day our Sammy
Did a very silly thing:
She bought a can of pop
And then she swallowed up the ring!
We took her off to hospital,
So she could be x-rayed;
They couldn't find the blessed thing
But Sammy weren't afraid.

The radiographer she saw
Showed Mandy, (that's Sam's mum)
The picture of her insides,
From top, to tail, to tum;
She pointed out her organs
Just like a guided tour;
But where the ring had got to,
She couldn't say for sure.

There seemed no point in searching,
She said we'd have to wait

leaving Pier 2 (my own version of departure)

it is not easy to leave
Pier 2. First one buys
a ticket, gets a pass.
Then you open your bag before
that security guard
who does not look
like a man at all,

then you take your bag
and sit inside the shuttle
that takes you to another
building. You step down
take your bag again.
Another inspection is
done. You pass by
another door, a detector
of metals and fragments.

You take another bus
again that transports you

Water! Water! Water!

“ By triggering this switch
I want to pull down myself
and this highest tower of this city”,
He cried aloud in the seventh storey.
The clerks and executives ran down
shouting a psychopath armed with bombs
was to demolish this structure.
Sensing danger from the cries,
the people from the floors above
rushed out yelling”suicide bomber! ”.
The police and the fire wagons came
not waiting for a written complaint
and climbed up inch by inch.
They advised him not to kill himself
and they urged him to tell his demand.
”There is a national threat
by these alien terrorists”,
people blocking the road spoke to each other.
“Our service registers are in the tenth floor,
I’ve no hope of getting my pension”,

IRONY OF PEACE

Seer says ‘arms dealer’
May not be healer
Adjudged innocent killer

Maker of metal detector
Bombs disposal kits
Scanning X-ray machine
Close circuit TV
Will lose business of billions
If explosion cease
People will nourish
Melody of nightingale
Rosy fragrance
Refreshing cool breeze

Intellect display

Locked looks
in a spies romance
Secure a warrant
at first glance

My affections
will get detected
But all attractions
are taped endearments

A first kiss can destroy hates convenience
But long term commitments bad for surveillance
Watching the watchers retreating afterglow
Drift in panic rooms where desire has no doors

We can be friends

Alive, Aware And Free

A lie-detector expert, Clive Baxter, attached
polygraph machines to philodendron leaves,
tracings showed typical responses obtained
when subject to brief emotional stimulation,
he decided to burn a leaf and the tracing went
wild showing fright, the plant read the threat
he only formulated in his head!

and Peter Tomkins proved that plants respond
to thought, speech and prayer – but scientists

count yourself blessed
if you are reading this?
you are the rare few
who actually read others' poetry
nobody is serious about other people's life anyway
poetry reading is being noosy
an orphan in an alleyway
tries to look for a
home sweet home
count yourself doubled blessed
if you fully understand any poem
for poets write for themselves
if a poet says he writes for others
he is probably a liar
after money probably
count yourself blessed for having learnt this
for among the millions of poets
there are poets in lost alleys
trying to find a piece of themselves
the lane that runs to treasures of heart and mind
