God's blessed nativity salvation to instil...
The host of angels sang in praises 'Christ is born! '
The Halleluyahs rang that precious sacred morn!
Their worship filled the skies! They overflowed with joy!
'Hosanna in the highest! ' they said of Mary's boy!
The Virgin Maid conceived fulfilling prophecy!
Humility achieved this noble majesty!
The promise had come true! Redemption was at hand!
Forgiveness, pardon, too! Yet who would understand?
The shepherds must be told! The Lamb of God is near!
The Lord of every fold! Immanuel is here!
Thus shepherds held their breath! 'What wondrous truth is this?
God grant us life not death! Let us partake of bliss! '
Behold! Israel, take note! The King now dwells with men!
No more will Satan gloat! Behold, God's seraphim!
Hark to the Heavenly choir! God's triumph knows no bounds!
Their anthem raises higher beyond all mortal sounds!
And still their anthem plays though centuries have passed,
Transcending nights and days, to reach your soul at last!

American as Anybody

There is no required citizenship
in order for one to be considered an American.
You don't have to be born or even live within the boarders to belong,
You could go your whole life without ever once stepping foot on American soil.

You need not to know the political policies
parties or even president's names,
only the underlying foundation of principle.
Faces of Mt. Rushmore
Lady Liberty
Washington in all his forms -
whether Man Myth or place,
The Proud Spangled Banner itself!
All irrelevant symbols
used to signify the United Ideal.

The only anthem needed to know is the Unified Anthem of Man!
But one pledge, no pledge of greater significance than the pledge to one's self!
No language but the World Wide language of Love!
No law higher than God Given Equality to each in their own personal pursuit of Happiness!

Baseball Canto

Watching baseball, sitting in the sun, eating popcorn,
reading Ezra Pound,
and wishing that Juan Marichal would hit a hole right through the
Anglo-Saxon tradition in the first Canto
and demolish the barbarian invaders.
When the San Francisco Giants take the field
and everybody stands up for the National Anthem,
with some Irish tenor's voice piped over the loudspeakers,
with all the players struck dead in their places
and the white umpires like Irish cops in their black suits and little
black caps pressed over their hearts,
Standing straight and still like at some funeral of a blarney bartender,
and all facing east,
as if expecting some Great White Hope or the Founding Fathers to
appear on the horizon like 1066 or 1776.
But Willie Mays appears instead,
in the bottom of the first,
and a roar goes up as he clouts the first one into the sun and takes
off, like a footrunner from Thebes.
The ball is lost in the sun and maidens wail after him

Thanksgiving

When first in ancient time, from Jubal's tongue
The tuneful anthem filled the morning air,
To sacred hymnings and elysian song
His music-breathing sehll the minstrel woke.
Devotion breathed aloud from every chord:
The voice of praise was heard in every tone,
And prayer and thanks to Him, the Eternal One,
To Him, that with bright inspiration touched
The high and gifted lyre of heavenly song,
And warmed the soul with new vitality.
A stirring energy through Nature breathed:
The voice of adoration from her broke,
