Quotes about Sportsmanship, page 2
Hunter or the hunted! ! ! ! !
If you be a hunter,
Besides being good marksman,
One needs sportsmanship.
What makes one a hunter;
Fun of the game or sadistic pleasure,
At times I wonder…
Hunted or the hunter
In the playfield, there is a slim chance,
The pursuer end as prey.
So what,
If its a poem or a poet;
Its all in the game,
an occupational hazard...

Dangerous Sport
Danger has a twist so large, that you squirm
From it, doing justice harder the next day.
Your queue is again in town when you wait,
Waiting is a game of sportsmanship.
The sport too long carries new weight,
Like the opening of a wand, or some pole
That magically disappears for the good,
The sport of laughter has come upon us.
Dangerous men do not leave the sides,
The sides of a triangle or square,
The real shapes endanger us
And create jeopardy so huge to carry.

An Olympic Poem
A nation presents to the world
amidst a celebration of unity
how sportsmanship and humility
stand with pride and success
that no colour nor religion
separates man or woman
it is the strength and belief
those years spent in training
revealed to the eyes of the world
it is in that final breath spoken
''all we ask is to compete,
all we ask to to do our best''
the will be cheers and tears
the will be great joy and sorrow
but come the end this truth
a nation stands to applaud
and to say thank you

when i am sad

when i am
happy,
be just to me
one, i am one,
and will always be
one with myself,
one with nature,

Cricket King
Graeme Smith willing to take the risk
of injuring the broken bone in his hand,
while his elbow is to be operated upon,
for thirty minutes he held the bat, suffered
the pain, deeming it worth the gain to fend
for his country, Australians appreciating his
valiant effort, a standing ovation in fair
sportsmanship
I’m astounded, how can people suffer
so much willingly, how could he cut away
plaster of Paris and enter the game, what
beautiful spirit, what integrity – the most
loyal captain who never abandon his ship,
I’m so proud of this cricket King of our
South African team!

Truth is stranger than friction
The joy of truth is
that it can be funnier,
crazier,
than fiction.
On September 16 the referee
suspended a football match
following complaints by the spectators
that the players on both
multicultural or should I say
multiracial teams
had been racially abusing each other
with terms like 'black bastard'
a player corrected this, explaining
that it wasn't racial abuse but
'sledging' - to put off
players from kicking penalties etc.:
'Sure it was abuse, but there
was no racism'

Football Friday
Friday nite, small towns, big city
Big lights, mark field
quietly awaiting
for bands, fans
school colors, school spirits
pep rally's, scoring alleys
big crowds, cheering fans
cheerleaders dancing, cheering
Root Root for the home team
balls flying, bodies diving
scrambles of run, bombs of passes
scoring touchdowns, holding them down
Win Win hail to our team
Lose Lose hold your heads high
there's another day to win the game
loading bus, cheers and jeers
what a night, for the fight
Win Win for the home crowd
Go Go we won't go
fight fight thru the night

God Bless Countdown!
God bless Countdown on Channel Four
With consonants and vowels galore
And gorgeous Carol Vorderman -
If she can't do sums no-one can!
She gets a nine day after day!
(Ten out of ten, from me, I say!)
And Richard hosts with repartee...
We groan at puns yet all agree
That here's a show that's wonderful -
Easy-going and amiable!
Half wit, half style and full of fun,
Good sportsmanship from everyone!
Just when I've got a sweet old six,
Some guy with seven gets his kicks!
When I've got seven, he's got eight!
And I start thinking, 'Great... just... great! '
I had a nine in ninety-two!
Since then I haven't got a clue!
How do they do it! ? Life's not fair!
It's just a game! Oh, yeah, oh, yeah!

In the field
To walk or not to walk out of the filed should be dilemma
Not to create unruly scene, show off or any kind of drama
It has to be clear sportsmanship to play for the country
Respect in the entire manner without caring for records or money
You gain fame and status in the filed
Money and name along with innumerable yield
Yet the country may take highest honor with pride
You got to be exemplary with all the temptations to hide
It is disgrace if you walk out in protest
It is not you as an individual but country's name are put to test
Nothing should be done to malign the fair name
Name and fame will be of no use if mother land is put to shame
No award is acceptable at the cost of national dishonor
The flag must fly high and show its true color
It will speak of great ideals and total commitment
Towards world cause with integral movement

It's Never Too Late
An influence not received,
By young children unfamiliar with discipline...
In their most impressionable and growing up years,
Is almost impossible to prioritize.
Especially when those disguises,
Have been tried on and adorned.
Listening to a lecture delivered by either mom or dad,
When a sitting behind prison bars...
Has been an effective sentence given.
Aspects then mentioned about moral values...
And the benefits of maintaining good sportsmanship,
Is about as meaningful with content...
As dangling a steak in front of a starving dog.
What purpose is a lesson to teach...
To captivate with imagination,
If the classroom has been long cleared of its students?
And every avenue to one's learning process,
Has been padlocked.
