Epitaph On Miss Stanley, In Holyrood Church, Southampton

E. S.
Once a lively image of human nature,
Such as God made it
When he pronounced every work of his to be good.
To the memory of Elizabeth Stanley,
Daughter of George and Sarah Stanley;
Who to all the beauty, modesty,
And gentleness of nature,
That ever adorned the most amiable woman,
Joined all the fortitude, elevation,
And vigour of mind,
That ever exalted the most heroical man;
Who having lived the pride and delight of her parents,
The joy, the consolation, and pattern of her friends,
A mistress not only of the English and French,
But in a high degree of the Greek and Roman learning,
Without vanity or pedantry,
At the age of eighteen,
After a tedious, painful, desperate illness,
Which, with a Roman spirit,
And a Christian resignation,
She endured so calmly, that she seemed insensible
To all pain and suffering, except that of her friends,
Gave up her innocent soul to her Creator,
And left to her mother, who erected this monument,
The memory of her virtues for her greatest support;
Virtues which, in her sex and station of life,
Were all that could be practised,
And more than will be believed,
Except by those who know what this inscription relates.

Here, Stanley, rest! escaped this mortal strife,
Above the joys, beyond the woes of life,
Fierce pangs no more thy lively beauties stain,
And sternly try thee with a year of pain;
No more sweet patience, feigning oft relief,
With tender art to save her anxious groan,
No more thy bosom presses down its own;
Now well-earned peace is thine, and bliss sincere:
Ours be the lenient, not unpleasing tear!
O born to bloom, then sink beneath the storm;
To show us virtue in her fairest form;
To show us artless reason's moral reign,
What boastful science arrogates in vain;
The obedient passions knowing each their part;
Calm light the head, and harmony the heart!
Yes, we must follow soon, will glad obey;
When a few suns have rolled their cares away,
Tired with vain life, will close the willing eye:
'Tis the great birthright of mankind to die.
Blessed be the bark that wafts us to the shore,
Where death-divided friends shall part no more:
To join thee there, here with thy dust repose,
Is all the hope thy hapless mother knows.

Erica

Erica does not talk too much
her moon has no nails
there is no trace of a scratch
when she had it
ziplessly

quickly in the
train with someone
who has no
name

A Turtle Named George

There was a little turtle named George
On his food he would always gorge
He popped out of his shell
And said what the hell
And George was a turtle no more!

My feeble attempt at humor!

Erica

The soft side of your valley of love is what i want,
And i know that you do love me too;
But, i will keep on the kindness of love at your door steps.

I will follow you to wherever you go,
And i will not stop loving you;
Erica, you are my life and the stars of my faith.

George

Accosted,
To challenge,
To prove,
And like illegal mining activities in your village!
But, you have already gone through the rituals.

A conspiracy! !
The reasons behind your actions;
But to appease me was like the name of your lover called George,
However, i was nominated as one of the heirs on this case.

Dum Dum George

This heres the story about
Dumb, dumb george,
Who came up to boston
One sunny afternoon.
He drove up from new york city,
And he was freaky,
And he wanted to record me,
And I said,
George,
Youre dumb.
And he said, I know.
Why do you think I make so much money.
I wanna do
A record
Thatll make number one.
Dumb, dumb.

Erica

She lives in my dreams, for she lives for all dreams
A beautiful friend for all to see.

She smiles like the bridges that cross abyss,
We look for her smile when all is amiss.

Erica is America for all that she does,
A woman with life,
Flying high with peaceful white doves.

Go with God, my friend, your top of the line.
My life is enriched with your friendship sublime.

George Trimble

Do you remember when I stood on the steps
Of the Court House and talked free-silver,
And the single-tax of Henry George?
Then do you remember that, when the Peerless Leader
Lost the first battle, I began to talk prohibition,
And became active in the church?
That was due to my wife,
Who pictured to me my destruction
If I did not prove my morality to the people.
Well, she ruined me:
For the radicals grew suspicious of me,
And the conservatives were never sure of me --
And here I lie, unwept of all.

George Argiris

George Argiris
I have heard so much about you
From your sister
And I know that you are the devil that God made you
At the same time
When he placed you here on earth
You don't really deserve to live
Because you never did anything for anybody that you know
George Argiris
You are the biggest devil that your sister knows here on earth
George Argiris
You mistreat everybody that you know
And even your family
I think that is so ashame
You want people and your sister to feel sorry for you
No way

Curious George

Meeting George for the very first time,
at the play entitled “Zombies Come To Life”.
He was sitting in the aisle,
I told him to sit by me and then I smiled.
George believed in me and my art,
he told my parents from the start.
He knew I was talented and smart.
He was like a Dad I never had,
George helped me which I’m glad.”
I am appreciative more then you know,
he got me to Florida and a trip to Mexico.
Now George told me some time ago,
“Finish your book series
and then you will make
your rainbow of gold.”

George Of The Jungle

George, george, george of the jungle
Strong as he can be
Ahhh
Watch out for that tree
George, george, george of the jungle
Lives a life thats free
Ahhh
Watch out for that tree
When he gets in scrapes
When he makes his escapes
With the help of his friend
An ape named ape
Then away hell schlep
On his elephant shep
While fella and ursula
Stay in step with
George, george, george of the jungle
Friend to you and me
Ahhh
Watch out for that tree
Watch out for that (ahhh) (oooh) tree
George, george, george of the jungle
Friend to you and me

Flat Stanley's Visit To England

A little friend came to visit one day
And I said, 'Fancy that! '
He said his name was Stanley,
I said, 'How come you're flat? '

He said it was an accident
A board fell on his head;
But he'd been lucky really, 'cause
It could have killed him dead!

He also said, 'It's easier now
To get around so much'
And he doesn't need a passport
To help him keep in touch.

He slips inside an envelope
As easy as can be,
And travels with the mail
Until he's where he wants to be.

No wonder Stanley's happy
And grinning like a cat:
His life is all adventure...
I wish that I was flat!

I Walk On Ha- Melech George St. In The Morning Light

I WALK ON HAMELECH GEORGE ST. IN THE MORNING LIGHT

I walk on HaMelech George Street in the morning light-
Worlds open up-
I remember walking here often many years ago-
Vague longing and regret mix with pleasure
In my mind-
Soon I may never walk here again.

There is so much in Life to love and enjoy -
Soon there may be no more of it for me.

A regret at my own life-
That I have not lived enough-
And that it will go
As all things go –

Yet there is pleasure
In simply being alive
In the fullness of feeling
Inside
I cannot describe-

There is so much in Life to Love and Enjoy.

Port Stanley

Lines composed on an excursion to port Stanley, 1883.

In winter time 'tis sad and dreary
For to gaze on stormy Erie,
But here in summer time this port
It is fashionable resort,
For then it is always cheery
For to gaze upon lake Erie.

Or on the steamer you can sail,
All independent of the gale.
Or here the youth can ply the oar
And view the fast receding shore,
And be happy with his dearie
On the bosom of lake Erie.

No one here need ever weary
On the borders of lake Erie,
With quadrille parties at Stanley
And games and sports all so manly,
Or bathe in waves with friends near thee,
You fear not storms of lake Erie.

To George Sand: A Desire

THOU large-brained woman and large-hearted man,
Self-called George Sand ! whose soul, amid the lions
Of thy tumultuous senses, moans defiance
And answers roar for roar, as spirits can:
I would some mild miraculous thunder ran
Above the applauded circus, in appliance
Of thine own nobler nature's strength and science,
Drawing two pinions, white as wings of swan,
From thy strong shoulders, to amaze the place
With holier light ! that thou to woman's claim
And man's, mightst join beside the angel's grace
Of a pure genius sanctified from blame
Till child and maiden pressed to thine embrace
To kiss upon thy lips a stainless fame.

Sonnet I. To My Brother George

Many the wonders I this day have seen:
The sun, when first he kissed away the tears
That filled the eyes of Morn;—the laurelled peers
Who from the feathery gold of evening lean;—
The ocean with its vastness, its blue green,
Its ships, its rocks, its caves, its hopes, its fears,
Its voice mysterious, which whoso hears
Must think on what will be, and what has been.
E'en now, dear George, while this for you I write,
Cynthia is from her silken curtains peeping
So scantly, that it seems her bridal night,
And she her half-discovered revels keeping.
But what, without the social thought of thee,
Would be the wonders of the sky and sea?
