Saturday's Loss
I lost you on a Saturday
You came to me with searching eyes
But didn’t find me
Oceans I cried
Wanting you back
But where had you gone?
Not where I thought
You’d fled to the arms of another
Cold cruel lies
Charades, deceit
Games of emotion
I had to leave in the end
You couldn’t decide
Between me and her
But I didn’t want you
If you couldn’t choose me
Love can’t compromise
At least not my love
So I headed away
Now you try to follow
What can I do?
I can’t be with you
Nor without it now seems
Doomed to entrapment
Freedom is required
Freedom from expectation
Freedom to love
Freedom to welcome you back
No freedom without pain
Pain bears its own fruit
Not sure I can do it
