Virginia's Story

Elizabeth Gates-Wooten is my Grand mom.

She was born in Canada with her father and brothers.
They owned a Barber Shoppe.
I don't remember exactly where in Canada.
I believe it was right over the border like Windsor or Toronto.
I never knew exactly where it was.

When she was old enough she got married.

First, she married a man by the name of Frank Gates.
He was from Madagascar.
He fathered my mom and her brother and sister.
The boy's name was Frank Gates, Jr.
Two girls name were Anna and Agnes.

Agnes was my mother.

Frank Gates went crazy after the war
He drank a lot and died
Then grandma Elizabeth married a man by the name of Mr. Wooten.
He had a German name, but I don't think he was German.
She took his last name after they got married.

Then they moved to West Virginia in the United States.

Their son, Frank Gates Jr. Became a delegate in the democratic party.
He use to get into a lot of trouble because he liked to fight.
He was a delegate from the 1940's to 1970's.
He died of gout in the 1970's.

Anna was a maid and cook.

She baked cakes and stuff for people as a side line.
She had a hump on her back (scoliosis) .
She had to walk with a cane.
She could cook good though.
She did this kind of work all of her life, just like her mom, Elizabeth

They were both good cooks

They had a lot of money because they had these skills
Especially when people had parties.
Because they would make all of this food and then they would have left-overs.
We got to eat a lot of stuff we normally wouldn't get because of that.
When they cooked, they didn't use no measuring stuff, they would just use there hand.

My moms name was Agnes Barrie Gates.

She married James Wright and moved to Cleveland.

Dangerous Type

Can I touch you, are you out of touch
I guess I never noticed that much
Geranium lover, Im live on your wire
Oo come and take me whoever you are
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
Oo inside angel, always upset
Keeps on forgettin that we ever met
Can I bring you out in the light
My curiositys got me tonight
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Oo shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
Museum directors with high shaking heads
They kick white shadows until they play dead
They want to crack your crossword smile
Oo can I take you out for awhile, yeah
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
Tonight
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
Tonight
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type, alright
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight
(tonight) tonight
Shes a lot like you
The dangerous type
Tonight
Shes a lot like you
Come on and hold me tight

If It Was About A Lot Of Money

If it was about a lot of money...
My mind would be,
Trimmed in dollar bills.
With-my-thoughts-on a million of them,
And a caring less of my fellowman.

And if it was about a lot of money...
I'd ignore,
Every two cents made.
By anybody wanting to deliver to me,
Any consciousness attached to common sense.

If it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money...
I wouldn't be concerned about the suffering seen.

And if it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money.
And if it was about a lot of money...
My eyes wouldn't cry when I see these scenes.

If it was about a lot of money...
My mind would be,
Trimmed in dollar bills.
With-my-thoughts-on a million of them,
And a caring less of my fellowman.

If it was about a lot of money...
I'd ignore,
Every two cents made.
By anybody wanting to deliver to me,
Any consciousness to instigate.

If it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money...
I wouldn't be concerned about the suffering seen.

I'd fill my pockets and get away!
If it was about a lot of money.
I'd fill my pockets each and everyday.
If it was about a lot of money.
I'd fill my pockets and get away!
If it was about a lot of money.
I'd fill my pockets up and run the other way.
If it was about a lot of money.

If it was about a lot of money.
If it was about a lot of money.

Content, To My Dearest Lucasia

Content, the false World's best disguise,
The search and faction of the Wise,
Is so abstruse and hid in night,
That, like that Fairy Red-cross Knight,
Who trech'rous Falshood for clear Truth had got,
Men think they have it when they have it not.

For Courts Content would gladly own,
But she ne're dwelt about a Throne:
And to be flatter'd, rich, and great,
Are things which do Mens senses cheat.
But grave Experience long since this did see,
Ambition and Content would ne're agree.

Some vainer would Content expect
From what their bright Out-sides reflect:
But sure Content is more Divine
Then to be digg'd from Rock or Mine:
And they that know her beauties will confess,
She needs no lustre from a glittering dress.

In Mirth some place her, but she scorns
Th'assistance of such crackling thorns,
Nor owes her self to such thin sport,
That is so sharp and yet so short:
And Painters tell us, they the same strokes place
To make a laughing and a weeping face.

Others there are that place Content
In Liberty from Government:
But who his Passions do deprave,
Though free from shackles is a slave.
Content and Bondage differ onely then,
When we are chain'd by Vices, not by Men.

Some think the Camp Content does know,
And that she fits o'th' Victor's brow:
But in his Laurel there is seen
Often a Cypress-bow between.
Nor will Content herself in that place give,
Where Noise and Tumult and Destruction live.

But yet the most Discreet believe,
The Schools this Jewel do receive,
And thus far's true without dispute,
Knowledge is still the sweetest fruit.
But whil'st men seek for Truth they lose their Peace;
And who heaps Knowledge, Sorrow doth increase.

But now some sullen Hermite smiles,

Got A Lot O Livin To Do

(words & music by aaron schroeder - ben weisman)
Oh yes Ive got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
Come on baby, to make a party takes two
Oh yes Ive got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
And theres no one who Id rather do it with-a than you
Theres a moon thats big and bright in the milky way tonight
But the way you act you never would know its there
So baby, times a wasting
A lot of kisses I aint been tasting
I dont know about you but Im gonna get my share
Oh got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
Come on baby, to make a party takes two
Oh yes Ive got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
And theres no one who Id rather do it with-a than you
Theres a balmy little breeze
Thats whistling through the trees
And its telling you to pitch a little woo with me
Why dont you take a listen
Youll never know what youve been missing
Cuddle up a little closer and be my little honey bee
Oh got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
Come on baby, to make a party takes two
Oh yes Ive got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
And theres no one who Id rather do it with-a than you
Youre the prettiest thing Ive seen
But you treat me so doggone mean
Aint you got no heart, Im dying to hold you near
Why do you keep me waiting
Why dont you start co-operating
And the things I say are things you want to hear
Oh got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do
Come on baby, to make a party takes two
Oh yes Ive got a lot o living to do
A whole lot o loving to do

I Like It

I like it a lot
Oh
I like it a lot
Oh
I like it a lot
I liked it
I liked it a lot
Stip there, sooner or not
Right there, there on the ground
Did I say I liked it?
Yes you did
Did I say I liked it?
Yes you did
I like it
I liked it a lot
I like everything about you
I like everything we try
I like everything we did then
I liked it so good inside,
So good inside
I liked it
No, I liked it a lot
I liked it
Oh way to go
Take this
You did it a lot
It's better
Better then once
I liked it
I liked it a lot
I liked it
I liked it a lot
Did I say I liked it?
Did I say that now?
Did I say I loved it?
Did you understand?
Did you get it right now?
Didn't it sounds..
Did it feel good now?
Did I say I liked it?
I liked it a lot
I liked it
I liked it a lot
Did I say I liked it?
I liked it a lot
Did I say I liked it?
You know I liked it a lot
I liked it
I liked it a lot
I liked it

Hieroglyphic Beguile Meant

HIEROGLYPHIC BEGUILE...MEANT

I sought inspiring way to play “beguile”
blood's flood rush-blushing flush, then hibernate,
lush, hid ‘mid hieroglyphics of soft smile.
It dawned that very few can reconcile
emotions' brakes while breaking conscious state,
to draw more definitions for “beguile”.
Most, blind behind closed minds, can’t conjugate
dimensions manifold, unfold, translate,
decypher hieroglyphics of soft smile.

It takes so many lifetimes to compile
right signals light, bright eyes communicate
decoding definitions for “beguile”
into word worlds both varied, versatile,
deep, difficult to truly contemplate -
expanding hieroglyphics of soft smile.
Content observing content, context, style,
expressive inner eyes deliberate,
a worthwhile definition for “beguile”,
hidden in hieroglyphics of soft smile.

There are two definitions for “beguile”
one shares, one snares love, fair disguising hate -
what’s truth mid hieroglyphics of Your smile?
What if snare scare replaced rare care to dial
confusion more than loving fusion’s state,
refusal, ersatz aura ringed by rile?
What if those hieroglyphics hid heart vile,
whose slyness surface smiles would compensate
with blushing rushes should “beguile” prove guile.

What would remain of love’s fair sceptered isle?
Who could clear conscience e’er exonerate
from name of blame whose fame would flame defile,
mark Lethe dark, where no stark hopes beguile
lost soul, shade forfeit, damned, banned, intestate
parody pornographic, mercantile.

True torment, false beguilement takes to trial,
ensures despair, bare cell disconsolate,
Cupid's gilt arrows dipped in venom vile -
envy, greed, to feed perversions' weight
with appetites that needs exaggerate,
deform, intentions turned from narrow, straight,
to swift descent from paradise exile,
sharp fall before dupe hieroglyphic smile! ...

Too Much Of Anything

I think these hands have felt a lot,
I think these hands have felt a lot,
I dont know, what have I touched,
I dont know, what have I touched,
I think these eyes have seen a lot,
I think these eyes have seen a lot,
I dont know, maybe theyve seen too much.

I think this brain has thought a lot,
Searching, trying to find the crutch,
Searching, trying to find the crutch,
I think this heart has bled once too often,
I think this heart has bled once too often,
This time its bled a bit too much.
This time its bled a bit too much.
Too much of anything, too much for me,
Too much of anything, too much for me,
Too much of everything gets too much for me.
Too much of everything gets too much for me.
I cant remember before 49,
I cant remember before 49,
But I know that 48 was there,
But I know that 48 was there,
My ears let in what I should speak out,
My ears let in what I should speak out,
Hmmm, theres something in the air.
Hmmm, theres something in the air.
Ooh, Ive overloaded on my way,
Ooh, Ive overloaded on my way,
Bye, bye, bye, bye, you better keep in touch.
Bye, bye, bye, bye, you better keep in touch.
Think your ears hear a whole lot of music,
Think your ears hear a whole lot of music,
And like me theyve caught a bit too much.
And like me theyve caught a bit too much.
Too much of anything, is too much for me,
Too much of anything, is too much for me,
Too much of everything gets too much for me.
Too much of everything gets too much for me.

Ain't That A Lot Of Love (feat. Simply Red)

Words and music by Willa Dean Parker and Homer Banks
I know the desert cant hold all the love
that I feel in my heart for you, yeah
If I could spread it out across the sea
I know my love would cork it up
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
If the bees only knew how sweet you are, Baby
They would seal up their honey comb
If the birds could hear how sweet your voice is
They would tighten up the song
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
Your lips are so sweet
Honey, youre my every need
You got a smile so rare
A love like yours I just cant compare
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
If the cook in the kitchen had a touch as hot as yours
They wouldnt need a fire
I cant think of a word that describes your love better
Than the sky above
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
Yeah
Aint that a lot of love
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
One heart to hold
One heart to hold
One heart to hold
Aint that a lot of love
Aint that a lot of love
One heart to hold
One heart to hold
Aint that a lot of love
Aint that a lot of love
For one heart to hold
Oh thats a lot of love
Lot of love
Sounds like a lot of love
Sounds like a lot of love
For one heart to hold
For one heart to hold

Marriage.

A bond which is sensitive-
In which we share a lot.
Leaving our homeland-
We expect a lot.
Marriage is something-
Where we give in a lot.
At the sametime in return-
We want a lot.
Both, husband and wife-
Need to mingle a lot.
Priorites of life-
Change a lot.
Life revolves now-
Near husband a lot.
Lots of expenses-
To buy gifts a lot.
Time is short-
But dreams are lot.
Both, husband and wife-
Work a lot.
As evening arrives-
They talk a lot.
As time pass by-
Family is lot.
Even with grudges-
Love is lot.
And you see-
Marriage is loved a lot.

V. Count Guido Franceschini

Thanks, Sir, but, should it please the reverend Court,
I feel I can stand somehow, half sit down
Without help, make shift to even speak, you see,
Fortified by the sip of … why, 't is wine,
Velletri,—and not vinegar and gall,
So changed and good the times grow! Thanks, kind Sir!
Oh, but one sip's enough! I want my head
To save my neck, there's work awaits me still.
How cautious and considerate … aie, aie, aie,
Nor your fault, sweet Sir! Come, you take to heart
An ordinary matter. Law is law.
Noblemen were exempt, the vulgar thought,
From racking; but, since law thinks otherwise,
I have been put to the rack: all's over now,
And neither wrist—what men style, out of joint:
If any harm be, 't is the shoulder-blade,
The left one, that seems wrong i' the socket,—Sirs,
Much could not happen, I was quick to faint,
Being past my prime of life, and out of health.
In short, I thank you,—yes, and mean the word.
Needs must the Court be slow to understand
How this quite novel form of taking pain,
This getting tortured merely in the flesh,
Amounts to almost an agreeable change
In my case, me fastidious, plied too much
With opposite treatment, used (forgive the joke)
To the rasp-tooth toying with this brain of mine,
And, in and out my heart, the play o' the probe.
Four years have I been operated on
I' the soul, do you see—its tense or tremulous part—
My self-respect, my care for a good name,
Pride in an old one, love of kindred—just
A mother, brothers, sisters, and the like,
That looked up to my face when days were dim,
And fancied they found light there—no one spot,
Foppishly sensitive, but has paid its pang.
That, and not this you now oblige me with,
That was the Vigil-torment, if you please!
The poor old noble House that drew the rags
O' the Franceschini's once superb array
Close round her, hoped to slink unchallenged by,—
Pluck off these! Turn the drapery inside out
And teach the tittering town how scarlet wears!
Show men the lucklessness, the improvidence
Of the easy-natured Count before this Count,
The father I have some slight feeling for,
Who let the world slide, nor foresaw that friends
Then proud to cap and kiss their patron's shoe,
Would, when the purse he left held spider-webs,
Properly push his child to wall one day!

The Fire Below

(bonnie tyler/ paul hopkins/ peter oxendale)
Producer for bonnie: peter oxendale
Recorded in 1988 as a b-side for the single the best. lyrics taken from careful listening.
What I need
Is what you got
And a man like you must surely have a lot
Its what I need
So now you know
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below
What you see
Is what you get
And if thats not enough
You know you aint seen nothing yet
So hold on tight
And dont let go
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below
The fire below
The fire below
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below
The fire below
The fire below
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below
When I play
Its not a game
Ive got nothing to lose
But you sure got a lot to gain
Come on, come on, come on
Im ready to go
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below
Ooh, the fire below
The fire below
It takes a whole of loving
To put out the fire below
The fire below
The fire below
It takes a whole lot of loving
To put out the fire below, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah
Now if you take me up
I wont bring you down
Now, you know I aint fooling
And I wont take no messing around
Come on, come on, come on
Im ready to go
It takes a whole lot of loving

Thanks Bro

Take another chance now
I took mine
You got something to think about
I dont have the time
You left me hanging there
Out on the line
You got all those other things
I just got this one thing
Thanks a lot
Way to go
Bro
Thanks a lot
Way to go
Bro
Now that Ive said this
Which Ill probably regret
Now that Ive thrown this in your face
Do I have a case
You left me out nowhere

Life Saver

Just when I found myself
Back against the wall
You saved my life
With a telephone call
Far across the sea
You thought of me
I never thought Id ever see
The happy days you brought to me
Lifesaver
Lifesaver
Lifesaver
Lifesaver
Lifesaver
Lifesaver
Hey lifesaver
Lifesaver
Play on
Youre a lifesaver honey
Im a lot braver too
Youre a lifesaver baby
Do anything for you
Youre a lifesaver honey
Im a lot braver too
Youre a lifesaver baby
Id do anything for you
Youre a lifesaver honey
Youre a lifesaver honey
Im a lot braver too
Im a lot braver too
Youre a lifesaver baby
Youre a lifesaver baby
Do anything for you
Do anything for you
Youre a lifesaver honey
Youre a lifesaver honey
Im a lot braver too
Im a lot braver too
Youre a lifesaver baby
Youre a lifesaver baby
Do anything for you
Do anything for you
Youre a lifesaver honey
Youre a lifesaver honey
Im a lot braver too
Im a lot braver too
Youre a lifesaver baby
Youre a lifesaver baby
Do anything for you
Do anything for you
Youre a lifesaver honey

The Manuscript of Saint Alexius

There came a child into the solemn hall
where great Pope Innocent sat throned and heard
angry disputings on Free-Will in man,
Grace, Purity, and the Pelagian creed--
an ignorantly bold poor child, who stood
shewing his rags before the Pope's own eyes,
and bade him come to shrive a beggar man
he found alone and dying in a shed,
who sent him for the Pope, "not any else
but the Pope's self." And Innocent arose
and hushed the mockers "Surely I will go:
servant of servants, I." So he went forth
to where the man lay sleeping into death,
and blessed him. Then, with a last spurt of life,
the dying man rose sitting, "Take," he said,
and placed a written scroll in the Pope's hand,
and so fell back and died. Thus said the scroll:

Alexius, meanest servant of the Lord,
son of Euphemianus, senator,
and of Aglaia, writes his history,
God willing it, which, if God so shall will,
shall be revealed when he is fallen asleep.
Spirit of Truth, Christ, and all saints of Heaven,
and Mary, perfect dove of guilelessness,
make his mind clear, that he write utter truth.

That which I was all know: that which I am
God knows, not I, if I stand near to Him
because I have not yielded, or, by curse
of recreant longings, am to Him a wretch
it needs Such grace to pardon: but I know
that one day soon I, dead, shall see His face
with that great pity on it which is ours
who love Him and have striven and then rest,
that I shall look on Him and be content.

For what I am, in my last days, to men,
'tis nothing; scarce a name, and even that
known to be not my own; a wayside wretch
battening upon a rich lord's charity
and praying, (some say like the hypocrites),
a wayside wretch who, harboured for a night,
is harboured still, and, idle on the alms,
prays day and night and night and day, and fears
lest, even praying, he should suddenly
undo his prayer and perish and be great
and rich and happy. Jesu, keep me Thine.

Father and mother, when ye hear of me,
