Nestling

When to summon the sky
Little nestling?
When to summon the sky?

And suffer the risk - abscond in dread -
The knowledge of sort that you'll be dead
Upon a calamitous fall;

Or taken in flight - a hawkish pounce -
Demolished as prey; your fate pronounce
You gone, and to never recall.

O when to summon the sky
Little nestling?
When to summon the sky?

Aborting a den with
Feathered bed,
Unwavering mother who
Saw you fed -
Surrendering all so
You may spread
Your reach of tentative wings!

‘Tis only instinct -
E'er the reason -
Forging life:
The Nesting Season
And the trials it brings.

So up and summon the sky

Thurso’s Landing

I
The coast-road was being straightened and repaired again,
A group of men labored at the steep curve
Where it falls from the north to Mill Creek. They scattered and hid
Behind cut banks, except one blond young man
Who stooped over the rock and strolled away smiling
As if he shared a secret joke with the dynamite;
It waited until he had passed back of a boulder,
Then split its rock cage; a yellowish torrent
Of fragments rose up the air and the echoes bumped
From mountain to mountain. The men returned slowly
And took up their dropped tools, while a banner of dust
Waved over the gorge on the northwest wind, very high
Above the heads of the forest.
Some distance west of the road,
On the promontory above the triangle
Of glittering ocean that fills the gorge-mouth,
A woman and a lame man from the farm below
Had been watching, and turned to go down the hill. The young
woman looked back,
Widening her violet eyes under the shade of her hand. 'I think
they'll blast again in a minute.'
And the man: 'I wish they'd let the poor old road be. I don't
like improvements.' 'Why not?' 'They bring in the world;
We're well without it.' His lameness gave him some look of age
but he was young too; tall and thin-faced,

A time to plunge. A time to resurface straight.

A time to maximise. A time to minimise.
A time to diminish. A time to optimise.

A time to care for a special one. A time to love all.

A time to add dimension. A time to simplify.
A time to advocate egalitarianism.

Our Chikangawa Forest

Our green sea, our Chikangawa forest
How beautiful you are in our eyes
Like our precious stone you glitter
from above
You are our hope in our frozen hearts
But where are you heading to?

From northern star but to the south
You stretch your hand
From eastern Nyasa but to the west is your head
From up and shine is aray
broadcasting words of arch smiles

Our Kamuzu dreamt about you
And walked over your grin soils
Yes, he planted you, Chikangawa
Our man made queen caressed in green
But where are you heading to?

Our rock today and tomorrow
Our source of rain now and next day
Our medicine today and near the future
Our only man made gavalnised in Africa
And slide in as asingle pine parade
But where are you heading to?

But solely you are in sweeping winds
Over you it blows and goes
On your leg cancer has engulfed
Yes, is our hatrege stinging you?
We hate you now, our flower of Africa
We hate your roles, and plung into your fresh
But where are you heading to?

Our man made green are you afraid, afraid of climate change?
To the right leg the bruises are seen
As we reduce you to some ages
But where are you heading to?

O' no! We need you the more
We need you for timber
We need you for paparwork
And build us with the eastern sky
O' yes, tie us while you are still alive
But where are you heading to?

Are you going with your dreamer man
Our president, how proud we're in him
and Chikangawa forest welcomed him
And said, my author plant me, plant me
