Kevin

To have seventy sons out of your many wives,
And to attain your kingdom through many plans;
But you've now gathered your children at Beth Millo,
And like the gold of your land.
Baal-Benth and the muse of your love,
Life is not all that easy at times!
But with worthless and reckless men and women among us,
So be very wise to respect nature my sweet Kevin.

Light Hearted William

Light hearted William twirled
his November moustaches
and, half dressed, looked
from the bedroom window
upon the spring weather.

Heigh-ya! sighed he gaily
leaning out to see
up and down the street
where a heavy sunlight
lay beyond some blue shadows.

Into the room he drew
his head again and laughed
to himself quietly
twirling his green moustaches.

Mintah William

Sieve, believe, grieve;
And like the muse of 'Mintah William' in the land of my birth;
Succeed, proceed, seed, creed, heed, weed, breed!
With words of love and works of peace;
But, my mind is still on you.

Greed, reed, freed, treed, peed, need, deed, feed!
Searching around and looking for you;
But, i do hope to meet you one day,
For the muse of this village is all about the works of your people.

Epitaph of William Walworth

Hereunder lyth a man of Fame,
William Walworth callyd by name;
Fishmonger he was in lyfftime here,
And twise Lord Maior, as in books appere;
Who, with courage stout and manly myght,
Slew Jack Straw in Kyng Richard's sight.
For which act done, and trew entent,
The Kyng made him knyght incontinent;
And gave him armes, as here you see,
To declare his fact and chivaldrie.
He left this lyff the yere of our God
Thirteen hundred fourscore and three odd.

So William Is Not Dying

i have long told
you, a poem is
detached from
the poet

the stranger
talking to you
might have
been
talking about
another
stranger too

be detached
like
a mirror
and yet
so immersed
in the
image of your
own face

the realities
we write
are lies
behind
the realities
of others

william
has just told
you
the reality
of death

and he pretended
it was him
in that coffin
surrounded by
friends, parents
and children
and lovers

could be just
all in his mind

but the truth
has been told
and you
received them

fairly verily

William Wallace

(For the Ballarat statue of him)

THIS is Scotch William Wallace. It was He
Who in dark hours first raised his face to see:
Who watched the English tyrant Nobles spurn,
Steel-clad, with iron hoofs the Scottish Free:
Who armed and drilled the simple footman Kern,
Yea, bade in blood and rout the proud Knight learn
His Feudalism was dead, and Scotland stand
Dauntless to wait the day of Bannockburn!
O Wallace, peerless lover of thy land,
We need thee still, thy moulding brain and hand!
For us, thy poor, again proud tyrants spurn,
The robber Rich, a yet more hateful band!

Kevin Kissed Me after James Leigh Hunt Jenny Kissed me

Kevin kissed me when we met,
plucked from program's bug filled plug in!
Cyber scribbler loves to net
poetasters, pipe put that in!
Say I scribble screeds quite mad,
say gold membership attracts me,
say I'm wasting time, but add, -
Kevin kissed me!

(13 February 2012)

Jenny Kissed Me
Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss'd me.

(James Henry LEIGH HUNT 1784_1859)

Royal wedding, Kate Middleton and prince William

A prince of old in name and dress,
Paired with daddy's little princess,
Spurs England to get flags unfurled,
To recall a distant quaint world,
For royalty we proles don't much care,
And believe their excess unfair,
But we'll support Kate and William,
Due to our pride for our kingdom,
Let joy meet all those that attend,
No punk be played which may offend,
Let confused travellers love it all,
And buy tat from every cheap stall,
Lest the wedding should end up marred,
We'll have police go out on guard,
We'll even fund the whole event,
And want nothing for what we've spent.

Invictus (a reply to William Ernest Henley)

While the night stretch black over me
and in the dark sky I see countless lights
burning high,
I thank the God that made me free
to choose which light to follow as a guide.

In dark circumstance and whatever fate brings,
destiny and chance do not conquer
and I still rise wiser
to life and its things

and my will remains free
to decide where my words
and actions belong
whether they are right or wrong
and to no human I bend a knee
and in all things I only answer to Him
who Captain’s me.

To The Emperor William I

YOU are at least a Man, of men a King.
You have a heart, and with that heart you love.
The race you come from is not gendered of
The filthy sty whose latest litter cling
Round England's flesh-pots, gorged hogs gluttoning.
No, but on flaming battlefields, in courts
Of honour and of danger old resorts,
The name of Hohen-Zollern clear doth ring.
O Father William, you, not falsely weak,
Who never spared the rod to spoil the child,
Our mighty Germany, we only speak,
To bless you with a blessing sweet and mild,
Ere that near heaven your weary footsteps seek
Where love with liberty is reconciled.

My mistress’ eyes (in answer to William Shakespeare)

My mistress’ eyes has a bluer hue to them
than the colour of the cobalt sky,
not coral nor tomato can compare
to the soft care that I find on her lips

and the touch of her fingertips
is more gentle than any breeze
and the colour of her hair is rarer, more unique
than that of grass, or that which metal wires can hold

and her breasts and nipples
has a greater purity, enticement to them
than any snow or the darling buds of May
and the beauty that she holds, is more fragrant
than the flowers that even roses do display
when our true need for each other unfolds.
