The economy depends about as much on economists as the weather does on weather forecasters.

Moaning about the Weather

The sky above is grim and grey;
They say that snow is on its way
But first, the frost will kill the flowers
And rain will pour for hours and hours
Just when we have to walk the dog.
Then planes get grounded by the fog
And after that come wind and gales
And hail and sleet on hills and dales.

The British weather, we complain,
So changeable, is such a pain.
We long for sultry summer sun
But then, again, there's not much fun
When there's too much and we get drought
That's something to complain about
And sunburn, sunstroke, water rations
Start to be the latest fashion.

I wonder if we Brits will ever
Cease to whinge about the weather
But it would really spoil the game
If every day were just the same;
We wouldn't have a chance to moan
And grouse and grumble, gripe and groan.
It's almost like our National sport
To curse the weather; there's a thought!

Something About The Weather

Dear sister, you have no idea
About the weather here
The earth is dry
We haven't seen any rain
For the past few years
And hunger is striking.

Looking out through the window
Father is trying to forecast the weather
And he has been saying something
But no one heard what the exact words are
For he's talking to no one, but himself.
Oh! how terrible things are here
The weather is bad, so bad that
I am beginning to believe what father has said.

'This is not weather, but a curse laid upon us.'

Blame The Weather

When your loves flown out the window,
And the pain comes through the door.
Once again youve missed the boat,
And youre stranded on the shore.
And you find out that what you had,
Was never yours at all,
Friends and lovers that you knew so well,
Will never take your calls.
So,
You blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh
Cant you see youre in your prime?
Youre turning creases into lines.
If you play the game
Youve got to be prepared to take a knock,
You get put down so many times,
But you keep on getting up.
So put your tears away,
And dont forget to worry is a crime,
Nothing bears thinking about too much,
Youll be old before your time.
So,
You blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh
Cant you see youre in your prime?
Youre turning creases into lines.
The pool of tears you left to drown in,
The helping hands that never came,
The years you lost out to another,
All up in flames
So,
You blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh,
Blame the weather,
Oh-oh
Cant you see youre in your prime?
Youre turning creases into lines.

Theres A Change In The Weather

(sung by working class man, middle class man and upper class man)
Im just a simple working man
Gettin by the best I can
In this crazy mixed-up muddled-up world that I live in.
Im a middle class sort of a guy
Im not rich but I get by
Pretending that I know just what Im doin.
Im a well bred upper class sort of chap,
I dont care much about this and that
Even when I know theres trouble brewin.
We think theres a change in the weather
Weve got to learn to stick together.
Weve seen the thunder clouds in the sky,
I wanna live, I dont wanna die.
I think the weathers changing, I hope the weather is gonna change.
I hope its a change for the better and it will brighten up my day.
I think theres a change in the weather, I hope good weather is here to stay,
I hope its a change for the better and it will brighten up my day.
See the holocaust risin over the horizon,
Gonna see a manifestation, total chaos, devastation,
Anticyclone and tornados brewin,
Gonna feel the lightnin strikin,
Thunder clap smoke a frightnin,
Theres gonna be evil doin,
Theres trouble brewin,
Everybody scared,
Too much thunder, too much fightin.
Heavy storm clouds comin,
Gonna cover up the sun
And gonna terrify everyone,
Better pack up your bags and run.
I think theres a change in the weather, I think the weather is going to change.
I hope its a change for the better and it will brighten up my day.
I think theres a change in the weather, I hope good weather is here to stay.
I hope its a change for the better and it will brighten up my day.

The Weather Is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful

By: jimmy buffett
1980
This song is for billy clyde tuggel. I hope you make it to tahiti one day.
-- spoken:
Play ball!! (one, two, three, four)
Wheres my per diem? (ladies and gentlemen, the carl reiner band)
Hey bobby, wheres the keys to the rent-a-car?
Jimmy, jimmy, can I open the show in atlanta please?
Warning! dont ever start a band!
He worked hard all year, just wanted a few weeks alone
But his old ladys into modelin, she cant get away from a phone
Besides she bitches about the mosquitoes
She says, down there there is nothing to do
Her goddamn phone never stops ringin
Hell try the service in a day maybe two
Well hes on his third drink before the wheels of the plane leave the ground
Makin points with the stewardess high over long island sound
Shes also spending some time on the island
Too much city madness gives her the blues
They make a date to go dancin and dinin
It seems neither has that much to lose
Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
My thoughts arent too clear but dont run away
My girlfriends a bore, my job is too dutiful
Hell nobodys perfect would you like to play?
I feel together today
Well now thats just the start of a well-deserved overdue binge
Meanwhile back in the city certain people are starting to cringe
His lawyers are calling his parents
His girlfriend doesnt know what to think
His partners are studying their options
Hes just singin and orderin drinks
Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear lifes so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiris too fruitiful
No place like home when youre this far away
I dont care what they say (I dont care)
Hes goin back to new york pack it up and let everyone know
It was something that he should have done such a long time ago
Still time to start a new life in the palm trees
Ah, billy clyde wasnt insane
And if it doesnt work out therell never be any doubt
That the pleasure was worth all the pain
Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear lifes so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiris too fruitiful
No place like home when youre this far away
Time for to play
I need time for to play
Time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
- notes:
Billy clyde tuggel was a character in the soap opera all my children.

The Weather Wight

The way was long, the hill was steep,
My footing scarcely I could keep.

The night enshrouded me in gloom,
I heard the ocean's distant boom

The trampling of the surges vast
Was borne upon the rising blast.

'God help the mariner,' I cried,
'Whose ship to-morrow braves the tide!'

Then from the impenetrable dark
A solemn voice made this remark:

'For this locality-warm, bright;
Barometer unchanged; breeze light.'

'Unseen consoler-man,' I cried,
'Whoe'er you are, where'er abide,

'Thanks-but my care is somewhat less
For Jack's, than for my own, distress.

'Could I but find a friendly roof,
Small odds what weather were aloof.

'For he whose comfort is secure
Another's woes can well endure.'

'The latch-string's out,' the voice replied,
'And so's the door-jes' step inside.'

Then through the darkness I discerned
A hovel, into which I turned.

Groping about beneath its thatch,
I struck my head and then a match.

A candle by that gleam betrayed
Soon lent paraffinaceous aid.

A pallid, bald and thin old man
I saw, who this complaint began:

'Through summer suns and winter snows
I sets observin' of my toes.

'I rambles with increasin' pain
The path of duty, but in vain.

'Rewards and honors pass me by
No Congress hears this raven cry!'

Filled with astonishment, I spoke:
'Thou ancient raven, why this croak?

'With observation of your toes
What Congress has to do, Heaven knows!

'And swallow me if e'er I knew
That one could sit and ramble too!'

To answer me that ancient swain
Took up his parable again:

'Through winter snows and summer suns
A Weather Bureau here I runs.

'I calls the turn, and can declare
Jes' when she'll storm and when she'll fair.

'Three times a day I sings out clear
The probs to all which wants to hear.

'Some weather stations run with light
Frivolity is seldom right.

'A scientist from times remote,
In Scienceville my birth is wrote.

'And when I h'ist the 'rainy' sign
Jes' take your clo'es in off the line.'

'Not mine, O marvelous old man,
The methods of your art to scan,

'Yet here no instruments there be-
Nor 'ometer nor 'scope I see.

'Did you (if questions you permit)
At the asylum leave your kit?'

That strange old man with motion rude
Grew to surprising altitude.

'Tools (and sarcazzems too) I scorns-
I tells the weather by my corns.

'No doors and windows here you see-
The wind and m'isture enters free.

'No fires nor lights, no wool nor fur
Here falsifies the tempercher.

'My corns unleathered I expose
To feel the rain's foretellin' throes.

'No stockin' from their ears keeps out
The comin' tempest's warnin' shout.

'Sich delicacy some has got
They know next summer's to be hot.

'This here one says (for that he's best):
'Storm center passin' to the west.'

'This feller's vitals is transfixed
With frost for Janawary sixt'.

'One chap jes' now is occy'pied
In fig'rin on next Fridy's tide.

'I've shaved this cuss so thin and true
He'll spot a fog in South Peru.

'Sech are my tools, which ne'er a swell
Observatory can excel.

'By long a-studyin' their throbs
I catches onto all the probs.'

Much more, no doubt, he would have said,
But suddenly he turned and fled;

For in mine eye's indignant green
Lay storms that he had not foreseen,

Till all at once, with silent squeals,
His toes 'caught on' and told his heels.

The World Does Not Need My Poem

The world does not need my poem
Soon it will not need me-
A few people need me,
They will need me when I am not here-
I will disappoint them by not being here-
It is the last thing in the world I want to do
To disappoint the few who really matter-
But what to do?

I am just another human being
Another mortal on this earth
It is not given to me,
What is not given to anyone else
Even though I so much want it.

There Are Times When The Sun Does Not Shine

who argues
about the rainy days
when the sun
does not shine
like a child hiding
on the skirt
of her mother

who disputes
lean times
and hungry days
when we simply
bite our tongue
swallow our saliva
and say we
just had lunch

when this happens
we can do nothing
we let all these times
come and then wait
when they finally leave

for like the sun that
does not shine today
tomorrow it may come
and shine again so brightly!

The Weather Report

When
the weatherman
tells
you
it might rain
it might not rain
He says
the sun will shine
but it might as well not shine
There is
a probability
he says
Too many variables
involved
When
he says
there is
a thunderstorm
You're pretty
sure
about a storm
somewhere
But just look
out your window
to make
sure
it is there
What good
is
a weather report
if you have to see
for yourself?
It's better not
to walk out your door
If you depend
on the weather
out there

Can't Change the Weather

Crisp and white and cold
It was a beautiful snowy day
Life seemed devoid of turmoil
As I watched the ducks at play

Trees covered in their lacy winter white
The sky was gray with threatening snow
And yet a bit of white peaked through
It was the best kind’a day I know

And as I drove across a bridge
Slush was forming and the snow rearranged
It seemed as though there was a pause
I knew something was about to change

I love the changing of the weather
A cold and blowing storm
And then as quick as fingers snap
It would be sunny and sweet and warm

I guess whatever the season
Or whatever the weather right now
We might as well just settle in
Can’t change the weather anyhow!

The Weather

Nothing can compare, to a day that's filled
with glorious sunshine! It's magical, how it
can lift you out of a dreary existance, that
cuts like a knife. It has the ability to put a
smile back on your face, which enables
you to get on with your life. When you're
faced with long periods, devoid of sunshine
it has an adverse reaction on you. It won't
take long, before it will show. It doesn't
matter, what you do. It's not unusual for
the weather to affect us emotionally and
physically. It can play havoc with your
mind. When I see the sun, I know, I can
leave everything behind. There's little
we can do about the weather. We can
talk about it, which all of us, have done.
Regardless, it's a continual topic of
conversation, bar none!

Like The Weather

[ natalie merchant ]
The color of the sky as far as I can see is coal grey.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again.
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my lips as if I might cry.
Well by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe.
Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave.
Shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
Quiver in my voice as I cry,
What a cold and rainy day. where on earth is the sun hid away.
I hear the sound of a noon bell chime.
Now Im far behind.
Youve put in bout half a day
While here I lie
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my lip as if I might cry,
What a cold and rainy day. where on earth is the sun hid away?
Do I need someone here to scold me
Or do I need someone wholl grab and pull me out of this four poster dull torpor pulling downward.
For it is such a long time since my better days.
I say my prayers nightly this will pass away.
The color of the sky is grey as I can see through the blinds.
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather.
A quiver in my voice as I cry,
What a cold and rainy day. where on earth is the sun hid away?
I shiver, quiver, and try to wake.

Listening For The Weather

So I'm listening for the weather to predict the coming day
Leave all thought of expectation to the weather man
No it doesn't really matter what it is he has to say
'Cause tomorrows keep on blowing in from somewhere

All the people that I know in the apartments down below
Busy with their starring roles in their own tragedies

Sunlight sends you on your way
And those restless thoughts that cling to yesterday
Never be afraid of change
I'll call you on the phone
I hate to leave you on your own
But I'm coming home today

And this busy inner city
Has got nothing much to say
And I know how much you're hanging round the letterbox
And I'm sure that as I'm writing
You'll be somewhere on your way
In a supermarket checkout or the restaurant

I've been doing what I'm told
I've been busy growing old
And the days are getting cold but that's alright with me

Sunlight sends you on your way
And those restless thoughts that cling to yesterday
Never be afraid of change
I'll call you on the phone
I hate to leave you on your own
But I'm coming home today
Yes I'm coming home today

I've been doing what I'm told
I've been busy growing old
And the days are getting cold but that's alright with me

Sunlight sends you on your way
And those restless thoughts that cling to yesterday
Never be afraid of change
