I Want Out

I want out
(m&l - hansen)
From all lives beginning on
We are pushed in little forms
No one asks us how we like to be
In school they teach us what to think
But everyone says different things
But theyre all convinced that
Theyre the ones to see
So they keep talking and they never stop
And at certains point you give it up
So the only thing thats left to think is this
I want out... to live my life alone
I want out... leave me be
I want out... to do things on my own
I want out... to live my life and to be free
People tell me a and b
They tell me how I have to see
Things that I have seen already clear
So they push me then from side to side
Theyre pushing me from black to white
Theyre pushingtil theres nothing more to hear
But dont push me to the maximum
Shut your mouth and take it home
cause I decide the way things gonna be
I want out... to live my life alone
I want out... leave me be
I want out... to do things on my own
I want out... to live my life and to be free
Theres a million ways to see the things in life
A million ways to be the fool
In the end of it, none of us is right
Sometimes we need to be alone
I want out... to live my life alone
I want out... leave me be
I want out... to do things on my own
I want out... to live my life and to be free

I Want Out

From our lives' beginning on
We are pushed in little forms
No one asks us how we like to be
In school they teach you what to think
But everyone says different things
But they're all convinced that
They're the ones to see
So they keep talking and they never stop
And at a certain point you give it up
So the only thing that's left to think is this
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free
People tell me A and B
They tell me how I have to see
Things that I have seen already clear
So they push me then from side to side
They're pushing me from black to white
They're pushing 'til there's nothing more to hear
But don't push me to the maximum
Shut your mouth and take it home
'Cause I decide the way things gonna be
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free
There's a million ways to see the things in life
A million ways to be the fool
In the end of it, none of us is right
Sometimes we need to be alone
(Solo: KaiBoth)
No no no, leave me alone
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

At A Reunion Party....

to keep the distance
we shy away from saying anything
deep within
we have so many things to say
but we are afraid

when we gather
just like last night
we were too careful
all the words seem right
the way they were used and spoken

nothing seems broken
not the sound of the plate that
fell on the floor
or the glass that spilled water on
the table
how the mantel got wet
and how each tried to clean the mess

but the fact is that
everyone is suspicious
someone is going to be destroyed
at the next moment

we hold our glasses
ready with our toasts
for good health
somehow our eyes are looking at
a different direction
vigilant and
always ready

someone is going to be destroyed tonight
and everyone sees to it that it should be the other.

Things I Would Say To My Daughter If She Were Here

for Jody

The important thing
is to stay ahead of the pain
like a debt you'll pay tomorrow with your life
they're calling for today.
Tips for survival:
Luck has nothing to do with intelligence.
Stupid will get you killed faster than evil.
The most dangerous assassins
conceal themselves under the eyelids
of those who say they love you best.
And as any bruised heart knows
there's more power in an open palm
than there is in a fist
and the best way to get someone
to taste their own effluvia
is not to point to it.
A lot of opinions
is the frenzy of gnats in the sunset.
Silence walks like a tiger on soft paws.
Take a hint from the moon
who only bares her crescents twice a month
to show what's she's got up her sleeve
at the beginning and the end.
Keep your claws retracted
like laws you haven't enacted yet.
And never pass judgment on a friend.
A free mind is a godsend
but don't measure your liberty in chains.
And if you feel the need
to attach yourself to someone
attach yourself to them
like the full moon to water when it rains.
Think with your heart.
Feel with your brains.
And don't expect the Red Sea to part
into a thousand miraculous pirate-swept sea-lanes
just to let you get away because you're special.
You turn a legend into a farce
the minute you start to believe in it.
You can't make a commercial for one
of the light that falls on everything alike
so don't abuse your shining
like a fire eclipsed by its own soot.
Greenwood blows the most smoke
and gives the least heat.
Stay a jump ahead of yourself like a real star.
People might point to you and say your name
and write your story into the Pleiades
thinking they're only a finger's length away
from where you are
but cherish your darkness
like a secret you keep to yourself.
And remember when you transit zenith
everything you see in the sentient mirror
isn't having an illicit affair with your eyes.
You should receive your life in every moment
like a constant surprise
if you want to stop aging,
if you want to grow up like the wise
who are always the first born of time
to inherit eternity
like a bloodline without a beginning
that leads to everyone as if they all bore
the creative likeness
of your closest ancestor
like Castor and Pollux in Gemini
like the history of your breath
in every gust of wind
that sows the dust
of countless generations
in the features of your face
as if everyone's story were told by the same voice
in the same spontaneous tone
of all things passing away into fruition.
Don't track a hovel of impoverished thought
into a palace of thoughtless intuition
and expect to be invited back.
Thirty chiefs of autumn
sit around every fireleaf
that's ever fallen
telling stories about things that last
no one believes anymore.
All the reasons for yesterday
turn into today's folklore
and if you're trying to look into the future
from anywhere other than now
trying to separate the light from the darkness
like gold from its ore,
trying to anticipate the harvest before it's sown,
you're only prying the petals of flowers open
before they're ready to bloom.
You're just peeking under the eyelids
of the embryo of a new moon
as if you could crawl into the womb with it
to see what's it's dreaming
before it comes to light
as if you could get an angle on life
to take the shot
without sinking the table
or load the dice in your favour
with the third eyes of prophetic snakes.
Insolent with disobedience
you turn yourself into a slave,
but bound by duty
the great sea of awareness
is mastered by the sloppy salute
of any green recruit
passing in review like a wave.
The stars don't need to convince anybody
they're stars
and the flowers aren't trying to be beautiful.
Live as if your death were already achieved
and lost in the shadows behind you.
Life flowers in the valleys of death
and if our beginnings weren't
our ends are equal
and there's an eternity of a chance
more than not
there's a sequel
but live your afterlife now like water.
You can't pour the universe out of the universe
anymore than your mindstream
can flow out of the sea of awareness
like blood from an irreparable wound
or a theme of unrequited love out of its music.
In what space you don't already occupy
can you bury the corpse of all things
as if you could fit your boundless mind into anything
as if you could dig a blackhole deep enough
to bury God
as if there were ever anywhere to go in the first place
that wasn't already in your face?
The delusions of a coward cast longer shadows
than the things they're the images of.
There are dragons that know more about love
than the doves we send out looking for land
and who among sphinxes knows more than the sand
they come to in time like wisdom?
The mysteries are the mysteries.
They're not looking for answers.
The meaning of life
is the life of meaning
as waves are the life of the sea
or even in late autumn
leaves are the life of the tree.
Let go of things as they do.
Blossom bear fruit and fall.
It's not such a long way down to your roots.
Not long at all.
No further than the boots you're walking in.
And if someone should ask you your name
say it like a constellation
that doesn't shine its light on fame
though everyone sees it rising in the west,
not an inert all night marquee
with letters missing
that burned out like candles
that gazed too long
at their tiny tongue-tied celebrity
as if they were on a visionquest.
Sophocles said never to have been born is best
but he was just trying
to get the world off his chest through denial.
He was a bad guest with tragic manners at a great feast
who had forgotten
because he was born Greek
that life's negation is its oldest affirmation
and what is lost in life is lost solely to those who seek.
Gratitude is the truest measure of wealth.
Squander yourself lavishly like an orchard in spring
knowing generosity is the spontaneous sign
of a spiritual being in good health
that doesn't need money to prove she's rich.
Let life adorn you in its robes and ashes
as if they were just so many cloaks of the moon
slipping from your shoulders
like petals in the starfields of space.
And don't heed the blind fool
who calls for chandeliers
when she's already got tears in her eyes
she's been dancing to for years.
And remember this for the rest of your life
long after my tongue is a leaf
and my eyes are clouds on the wind:
once long before you were born
I asked how I could best return my life to the water
as clean as the reflection of the waterbird
that had just left it
and when the stars of Cancer
granted me you as my daughter
since then I've never needed to look
any further than their light in your eyes
for the answer.

Dull and Foolishness

Other people have more than enough
But I alone seem to have lost everything.
I am dull and foolish!

Other people are clear
While I alone am confused.
Other people are clever

While I am stupid.
I feel lost at sea,
Tossed about on the winds of a storm.

Everyone else has things to do
While I am dull and stupid.
But I am different from others.

I am nourished by the Great Mother.

Serenity

Looking down on Serenity,
So quite in tranquility.
Eyes open wide,
Looking at me by her side,
Looking down I think of her,
As she looks at me and sees a blur.
From this point on she'll grow and grow,
And she'll think time will never slow.
Changing in body, mind, and soul,
Growing as a whole.
Yet these eyes I see,
The same will always be.
They will see so many different things,
As she sees what life may bring.
Always the same heart behind those eyes,
The key to her life, oh so wise.
So quite in tranquility,
Looking down on Serenity.

Different Strings

Whos come to slay the dragon ---
Come to watch him fall?
Making arrows out of pointed words
Giant killers, at the call
Too much fuss and bother
Too much contradiction
And confusion
Peel away the mystery
Heres a clue to some real motivation
All there really is
The two of us
And we both know why weve come along
Nothing to explain
Its a part of us
To be found within a song
What happened to our innocence ---
Did it go out of style?
Along with our nivette
No longer a child
Different eyes see different things
Different hearts
Beat on different strings
But there are times
For you and me
When all such things agree

Yesteryears

The rocking chair squeaks,
as it rocks to and fro.
An old man is dreaming,
of yesterdays many years ago.
He dreams of the woman,
who’d one day be his wife.
He sees how things used to be,
when he was a lad.
Reflects on the changes,
that have come and gone.
The peace and the quiet,
shattered by the society of busy feet.
The countryside that disappears,
at an alarming rate,
as developers seal each acres fate.
Gone is the fresh air,
everyone one used to breath.
Now clogged with fumes,
of petrol and diesel.
Oh, yesteryears,
where have you gone?
Lost to the winds,
like a small bird’s song.

Some Bodies

Some bodies are so well lived in
they look older than their time.
Hard living has aged
every crease, wrinkle and line.
They look much older
than they really should.
Their expressions is worn out,
their laughter thin and bare.
The life they’ve lead
has taken the toll there.
The youth they should have
has disappeared without trace,
now all everyone sees is hardness,
no softness or grace.
Many things can cause this aged look upon a face,
that’s worn and tired look, long before its time.
Some say it is caused by this and that,
but no one is really sure.
Only that it happens
and it could to anyone.

You'd Better Think Twice

People may seem crazy, every single day
But everyone is different in their own way
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it, about it
Mama spanks her baby, makes the baby cry
But baby is the apple of her eye
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it, about it
Sometimes i get unhappy with the things you do
But don't think i don't love you 'cos you know i do
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it, about it
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it
You'd better think twice about it, about it--about it

The Purpose(Musing)

Woke up this morning
Decided I was gonna keep writing
I was gonna write more
Till my fingers hurt
And my soul bled on white pages
For I have been a lot
A daughter, a sister, a friend
A scientist, an artist, a thinker
But within the core of my being burns a fire
Though quenched severally
Its ashes like a phoenix re-ignites
I am a poet
Amidst all purposes, lies this purpose
Everyone's born to be one thing
Each may be different things to different people
But each is born to be one thing
So BE!
For the world needs you.
I earlier mentioned I was a thinker
I've written several great poems and articles in my head
They never made it to paper.
Remember this always:
An idea not coupled with action never gets any bigger than the brain cell it occupies
DO.
BE...

Deeper Then The Holler

( Paul Overstreet / Don Schlitz )
I've heard those city singers singing
'Bout how they can love
Deeper the the ocean
Higher then the stars above
Well, I come from the country
And I know I ain't seen it all
But I've heard that ocean's salty
And the stars, sometime they fall
And I would not do justice
To the way I feel for you
So I had to sing a song
About all the things I knew
CHORUS: My love is
Deeper then the holler
Stronger then the river
Higher then the pine trees
Growing tall upon the hill
My love is
Purer then the snowflakes
That fall in late December
Honest as a robin on a springtime window sill
Longer then then song of a
whippoorwill
From the backroads to the Broadway shows
With a million miles between
There's at least a million love songs
That people love to sing
Everyone is different
And everyone's the same
This is just another way
Of saying the same thing
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(REPEAT TAG)

Things, Different Things...

there are things though small
that we cannot leave because they are ours

they belong to us
and we belong to them
that without them
though small
we cannot really live some more

there are acts which they call trivial
so unimportant like
a sigh
or a whisper
but we are so attached to them
that without them
we become nothing

they are a part of us
and when they are gone
we become
blanks unfilled

there are so many things that we can afford to lose
and when losing them
we do not even notice

simply because we never want them to be
a part of us
neither do they wish
becoming too
a part of what and who we are

we discern
and to those that pain us
we finally avoid
and disregard

to those that we miss
that makes our hearts jump with joy like kids
with mothers bringing favorite gifts
we always remember

they are the ones that usually
are earlier
gone
lost

those that we love to stay but
as early as dawn before we wake up
had already left...

I Like The Rhymes

I like the rhymes of the old fashioned rhymers the men and women of ballad and song
One can sense the rhythm and music in their verses to the bardic tradition they belong
Though in the twenty first century seen by many as out of fashion reading the rhyming stuff I still enjoy
Easy to understand not esoteric I've loved them since I was a school going boy
I cannot claim to be a judge of poetry since I'm not one with literary degrees
I just like rhyming stuff with lots of rhythm perhaps I am an easy one to please
The stuff quite popular in the nineteen fifties now seen as doggerel since the death of rhyme
What's fashionable now in ten years may seem outdated suppose that everything does have it's time
I loved the rhyming poems of my schooldays though that was years ago and far away
Perhaps I'm behind the times in my thinking since I enjoy reading old rhymes today
But then 'tis our different ways that makes us more interesting if we all thought the same how boring we would be
For it surely would be the death of discussion if everyone on all things did agree.

Happy New Year

We all have something we didn't do right
So here another year to start over and fixed it
We all have resolution to make
For me its to just be happy and enjoy my life
To forget the past and you
Make everyday count
Every minute is precious
If you make mistakes, keep trying and don't give up
I believe in you and so does people who love you
Even though they don't show it but deep inside they do
It clean slate to make the way you want to go
Is everyone time to shine in their own way
Not everyone going keep their resolution,
Stay same and others will
It's out with old and in with new
We all have something we want to achive this year
This your chance to do what you never show everyone
Be different, crazy, loud, or fun
Happy New Year
Finally it's 2012 and whole new year
Let's make this year great and fun
Wohhhhooooooooo
Come on lets good time
Have party or be with family
I wish you all a
Happy New Year
It's whole new year to enjoy try something new,
Take risk and explore other things out there if you want to
Finally its here and its went by so fast

Of Producing Disarray

There are those who profess,
They know better than others
About cleanliness!

With standards of speech and etiquette,
Believing they sit on pedestals
To pass judgements and other tests!

And they can't see that they are the creators,
Of what today is a world in a complete mess.

With fantasized ideals...
Face lifts and skin peels!
Ivy league schools producing fools to rule.
Using faith based crutches that are clearly out of touch.
And adopting policies that leave eye sores on the streets.
Implementing mandates to spread hate not peace.
With accepted philosophies to censor truth everyone sees...
They are the ones unclean and much diseased!
Although they are right when they talk about blight.
It's left behind them when they move...
Proving to others their ways are far from right!

And they are the ones to speak of correctness?
Every conflict today was designed by them to stay!
And if they had no say,
In the way things were done today...
There would be no animosity,
And they would hate to be ignored in that way!
Since they love it when in the midst,
Of producing disarray.

Bells In My Heart

I heard church bells ringing- ringing quite clear
I heard the church bells ringing- deafening my ears.
I looked all around and yet I could not see
Any places of worship even close to me.

That was when I realized that the ringing
Was coming from my heart.
Because it was you who captured it
Right from the start.

You entered my life like the earth enters
the day- and forever you would stay.
The bells are ringing with every passing
Thought of you, and it tells me all that I must do.
And to keep this love- to you I must be true.

I sometimes ask myself how can this be?
The bells toll louder every time you look at me.
Is this the way that love is really meant to be
That my heart is racing fast, and I feel wild and free.

We’ve all envisioned love and how it should be
But love is something you can not foresee.
Everyone sees love in a different way
And with your heart, love will play.
And love like a guitar that’s out of tune
You will lose it pretty soon.

So find the faults while you can
Tune that love and take your stand.
Now as I look at you I ask:
“Is this happening to only me
Or is our hearts singing in harmony”?
