Penny & Me

Cigars in the summertime
Under the sky by the light
I can feel you read my mind
I can see it in your eyes
Under the moon as it plays
Like music every line
There's a rug with a bleeding dye
Under the fan in the room
With passions burning high
By the chair with the leaopard skin
Under the light
It's always Penny & Me tonight
On the plane step with both my feet
Riding in seat number three
On a flight to NYC
Got my bean in a coffee cup next to my seat
Catch the view and another good book to read
Sitting at home on the friendly skies missing her eyes
It's always Penny & Me tonight
'Cause Penny & Me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up and push the pedal to the ground
And Penny & Me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny & Me tonight
Said Whoa Oh
Penny & Me tonight
Oh no no no no
Staring at a million city lights
But still Penny & I are alone beneath the sky
Can feel the wind brushing slowly by
But I can still try to take these wings and fly
Away to where the leaves turn red
But no matter where I am instead
Singing along to "feelin' alright"
We're making it by under pink moonlight
It's always... Penny & Me tonight
'Cause Penny & Me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up and push the pedal to the ground
And Penny & Me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
I said whoa oh
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny & Me tonight
Well Penny likes to get away
And drown her pain, In lemonade
And Penny dreams of rainy days
And nights up late by the fireplace
And aimless conversations 'bout the better days
Yeah, Oh no no no no
Singing along to "feelin' alright" Yeah

Peter Gunn's Gun

by Michael Leonard, Bobby Weinstein & Jon Stroll
Throw a penny from the window, watch an old man play a song
On a twenty-dollar violin he bought before the war,
Though he screeches and he scratches and the notes are always wrong,
But he plays like he's in concert on the street outside my door.
Tunes to suit your fancy,
Are there any requests?
I'll play them for a penny,
(Play them penny music, play them for a penny)
And not a penny less.
He's the local virtuoso, it's his only way of life,
Plays ninety-seven overtures and goes home to his wife,
In the quiet of the evening while his frozen fingers bleed,
He counts pennies on a blanket to supply his meager need.
Tunes to suit your fancy,
Are there any requests?
I'll play them for a penny,
(Play them penny music, play them for a penny)
And not a penny less.
When there's frost upon the pumpkin in the weakness of the sun,
People stand there in the cold until his symphony is done,
In the early gray of morning, he's sure to come around,
You can hear him through the window when the pennies hit the ground.
Tunes to suit your fancy,
Are there any requests?
I'll play them for a penny,
(Play them penny music, play them for a penny)
And not a penny less.
They're playing penny music,
Playing penny music,
They're playing penny music,
Playing penny music,
Playing penny music.
fade out...

Return!

RETURN, return! all night my lamp is burning,
All night, like it, my wide eyes watch and burn;
Like it, I fade and pale, when day returning
Bears witness that the absent can return,
Return, return.

Like it, I lessen with a lengthening sadness,
Like it, I burn to waste and waste to burn,
Like it, I spend the golden oil of gladness
To feed the sorrowy signal for return,
Return, return.

Like it, like it, whene'er the east wind sings,
I bend and shake; like it, I quake and yearn,
When Hope's late butterflies, with whispering wings,
Fly in out of the dark, to fall and burn--
Burn in the watchfire of return,
Return, return.

Like it, the very flame whereby I pine
Consumes me to its nature. While I mourn
My soul becomes a better soul than mine,
And from its brightening beacon I discern
My starry love go forth from me, and shine
Across the seas a path for thy return,
Return, return.

Return, return! all night I see it burn,
All night it prays like me, and lifts a twin
Of palmed praying hands that meet and yearn--
Yearn to the impleaded skies for thy return.
Day, like a golden fetter, locks them in,
And wans the light that withers, tho' it burn
As warmly still for thy return;
Still thro' the splendid load uplifts the thin
Pale, paler, palest patience that can learn
Naught but that votive sign for thy return--
That single suppliant sign for thy return,
Return, return.

Return, return! lest haply, love, or e'er
Thou touch the lamp the light have ceased to burn,
And thou, who thro' the window didst discern
The wonted flame, shalt reach the topmost stair
To find no wide eyes watching there,
No wither'd welcome waiting thy return!
A passing ghost, a smoke-wreath in the air,
The flameless ashes, and the soulless urn,
Warm with the famish'd fire that lived to burn--
Burn out its lingering life for thy return,

Heart On The Staves

You act the part
You play the game
Squat on my airwaves
Columbus nrules the waves on his own

And that's where I come in
Nothin' for nothin'
You squat on our airwaves
Oh so typical
Yeah you're on my airwaves
Your pretensions were apparent oh-oh

You're so creative
Yet you've left you're heart on the stave You left it on the stave
Oh
Heart on the stave oh
Heart on the stave oh

You act the part
Don't play the game
Squat on my airwaves
Columbus nrules the waves on his own

And that's where we come in
Nothin' for nothin'
You ride on our airwaves
Oh so typical
Yeah we're on the airwaves

Heart on the stave oh

Where's your heart
Where's your heart
It's stuck on the stave

Penny Lover

Penny lover
(lionel richie, brenda harvey-richie)
The first time I saw you
Oh, you looked so fine
And I had a feeling
One day youd be mine
Honey you came along and captured my heart
Now my love is somewhere lost in your kiss
When Im all alone its you that I miss
Girl a love like yours is hard to resist
Oh, oh, ooh, ooh, oh
Penny lover, my loves on fire
Penny lover, youre my one desire
Tell me baby could this be true
That I could need someone, like I need you
Nights warm and tender
Lying next to you
Girl I surrender
Oh, what more can I do
Ive spent all of my life in search of your love
Now theres one more thing Id like to say
Dont you ever take your sweet love away
Girl Ill do anything, just please stay
Oh, oh
(bridge)
I dont understand it, oh whats come over me
But Im not gonna worry, no not anymore
cause when a mans in love, hes only got one story
Thats why my love is somewhere lost in your kiss
When Im lost and alone its you that I miss
With a love like yours, its hard to resist
Ooh, ooh, oh
(begin fade)
Penny lover, dont you walk on by (dont you walk on by)
Penny lover, dont you make me cry (dont you make me cry baby)
Penny lover, dont you walk on by (dont you walk on by)
Penny lover, dont you make me cry (oh penny baby)
Penny lover, dont you walk on by (dont you walk on by)
I remember the first time I saw you baby
Penny lover, dont you make me cry
You had the look in your eye, you had the look in your eye, yeah, yeah
Ooh pretty baby
I just wanted to reachout and touch you baby
I just want to reach out and hold ya, I want to reach out and say ooh, ooh
Dont make me cry
I wanna talk about you everyday (penny lover)
Need you, need you baby ...

Kittie’s Toys

A CHILD'S SONG
[WRITTEN FOR KATHLEEN]
I wish I had a soldier, a soldier, a soldier,
I wish I had a soldier to fight for love of me
Marie has a soldier, a soldier, a soldier,
Marie has a soldier, a gallant man is he.
I wish I had a bright flag, a gay flag, a dear flag,
I would love a fair flag to fly in liberty,
Gretchen has a big flag, a brave flag, a strong flag,
Gretchen has a fine flag that floats all high and free.
I wish I had a small ship, a strong ship, a good ship,
I would love a trim ship to sail upon the sea.

Johnny has a big ship, a grey ship, a grand ship,
Johnny took my small ship with all his big navie.
I wish I had a penny, a penny, a penny,
I wish I had a penny that all belonged to me,
I would build a fair house, a great house, a strong house,
I would make one grand house for all the world to see.
But Johnny stole my penny, my penny, my penny,
And Johnny took my bright flag that floated fair and free,
Then Johnny had my small ship, my trim ship, my good ship,
And Johnny broke my soldier that fought for liberty.
Now John would be my soldier, my soldier, my soldier,
But John he is a greedy boy, a selfish boy is he;

And Johnny beats the wee ones, the small ones, the weak ones,
He takes their playthings from them in the name of liberty.
When Johnny gets a whacking, a whacking, a whacking,
When Johnny gets a whacking, I think he'll let me be,
And I shall have my penny, my penny, my penny,
And I shall buy a bright flag to wave in victory.

Choose to suit your fancy

And not a penny less
Hes the local vertuoso
Its his only way of life
Plays 97 overtures
And goes on home to his wife

He counts pennies
On the blanket to supply his meeger(sp? ) needs

The Aeneid of Virgil: Book 11

SCARCE had the rosy Morning rais’d her head
Above the waves, and left her wat’ry bed;
The pious chief, whom double cares attend
For his unburied soldiers and his friend,
Yet first to Heav’n perform’d a victor’s vows: 5
He bar’d an ancient oak of all her boughs;
Then on a rising ground the trunk he plac’d,
Which with the spoils of his dead foe he grac’d.
The coat of arms by proud Mezentius worn,
Now on a naked snag in triumph borne, 10
Was hung on high, and glitter’d from afar,
A trophy sacred to the God of War.
Above his arms, fix’d on the leafless wood,
Appear’d his plumy crest, besmear’d with blood:
His brazen buckler on the left was seen; 15
Truncheons of shiver’d lances hung between;
And on the right was placed his corslet, bor’d;
And to the neck was tied his unavailing sword.
A crowd of chiefs inclose the godlike man,
Who thus, conspicuous in the midst, began: 20
“Our toils, my friends, are crown’d with sure success;
The greater part perform’d, achieve the less.
Now follow cheerful to the trembling town;
Press but an entrance, and presume it won.
Fear is no more, for fierce Mezentius lies, 25
As the first fruits of war, a sacrifice.
Turnus shall fall extended on the plain,
And, in this omen, is already slain.
Prepar’d in arms, pursue your happy chance;
That none unwarn’d may plead his ignorance, 30
And I, at Heav’n’s appointed hour, may find
Your warlike ensigns waving in the wind.
Meantime the rites and fun’ral pomps prepare,
Due to your dead companions of the war:
The last respect the living can bestow, 35
To shield their shadows from contempt below.
That conquer’d earth be theirs, for which they fought,
And which for us with their own blood they bought;
But first the corpse of our unhappy friend
To the sad city of Evander send, 40
Who, not inglorious, in his age’s bloom,
Was hurried hence by too severe a doom.”
Thus, weeping while he spoke, he took his way,
Where, new in death, lamented Pallas lay.
Acoetes watch’d the corpse; whose youth deserv’d 45
The father’s trust; and now the son he serv’d
With equal faith, but less auspicious care.
Th’ attendants of the slain his sorrow share.
A troop of Trojans mix’d with these appear,
And mourning matrons with dishevel’d hair. 50

Return running back

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Destiny” in the most enchantingly celestial of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this boundless Universe; only to the periphery of the rustically bohemian palms,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Smile” in the most spell bindingly opulent of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this fathomless Universe; only to the peripher of the altruistically compassionate lips,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Empathy” in the most beautifully unassailable of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this limitless Universe; only to the periphery of the synergistically twinkling eye,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Hunger” in the most magically untainted of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this colossal Universe; only to the periphery of the tirelessly impoverished stomach,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Truth” in the most jubilantly mesmerizing of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this gigantic Universe; only to the periphery of the synergistically burgeoning conscience,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Fantasy” in the most victoriously unfettered of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this interminable Universe; only to the periphery of the uninhibitedly gifted brain,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Humanity” in the most astoundingly sparkling of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this unceasing Universe; only to the periphery of the symbiotically enchanting veins,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Strength” in the most fantastically emollient of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this endless Universe; only to the periphery of the blessedly venerated soul,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Perseverance” in the most fabulously scintillating of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this insuperable Universe; only to the periphery of the righteously perspiring armpits,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Adventure” in the most enthrallingly undying of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this poignant Universe; only to the periphery of the nimbly dancing feet,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Optimism” in the most indisputably pristine paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this Herculean Universe; only to the periphery of the fearlessly advancing stride,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Ecstasy” in the most gloriously bewitching of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this unlimited Universe; only to the periphery of the intricately nubile skin,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Melody” in the most amazingly glistening of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this unsurpassable Universe; only to the periphery of the wonderfully vivacious throat,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Artistry” in the most resplendently enigmatic of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this unbridled Universe; only to the periphery of the magnetically embellished fingers,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Sensitivity” in the most adorably effervescent of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this ebullient Universe; only to the periphery of the bounteously unimpeachable ears,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Mystery” in the most vibrantly virile of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this unbelievable Universe; only to the periphery of the tranquilly ameliorating shadow,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Sensuality” in the most iridescently redolent of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this interminable Universe; only to the periphery of the eternally fiery nostrils,

Try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Humility” in the most ubiquitously proliferating of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this impregnable Universe; only to the periphery of the harmoniously obeisant neck,

And try as hard as you could. But even if you placed “Love” in the most incredulously bedazzling of paradise; it would inevitably and still return running back; from wherever on this magical Universe; only to the periphery of the immortally throbbing heart….

Public Animal #9

Me and G.B.
We ain't never gonna confess
We cheated at the math test
We carved some dirty words in our desk
Well now it's time for recess
Old man waitin by the monkey bars
Tradin all his ball cards
And they promised him a gold star
And they told him he could go far
Hey Mr. Bluelegs
Where are you takin me?
I'm like a lifer
In the state penitentiary
If I keep my nose clean
I won't get my eyes shined
But I'm proud to be
Public Animal Number Nine
License plates are runnin
Out of my ears
I'd give a month of cigarettes
For just a couple of lousy beers
Or even a bottle of
Real cheap wi-hine
But that's the price you pay to be
Public Animal Number Nine, Number Nine
Hey Mrs. Cranston
Where are you takin me?
I feel like a lifer
In the state penitentiary
She wanted an Einstein
But she got a Frankenstein
Yeah, I'm proud to be
Public Animal Number Niiiirrrrrgh
Public Animal Number Nine
Public Animal Number Nine
Public Animal Number Nine Nine
Public Animal Number Nine Number Nine
Number Nine Number Nine
Number, Number Nine Animal Number Nine
Public Animal Number Nine Nine
Public Animal Numbergh Niiiirrrrrgh
Public Animal Nurrrgh Nirrrgh

No Return

Im at the point of no return
Im watching the candle burn
Both ends
Theres a lesson we
Both can learn - this time
So if you wanna make my day
Theres something
Youve gotta say
Now please dont laugh
And turn away - this time
I dont wanna make a fuss
But this is the time for us
And I aint gonna miss the buss
This time
No return
So therell be no turning back
Once I know that
Youll be by my side
No return
Maybe youll give me all the love
That you always felt
You had to hide
No return
Ive come a thousand miles
Across the ocean
But that aint half
As far as my emotion
Now Ive reached
The point of no return
While on my way down the avenue
I had to stop for a drink or two
Or three
Now not that I was stalling you
For time
Its just I wanted to feel my best
And I almost passed the test
I need your lovin to do the rest
This time
No return - so please dont ever do
What youve done
So many times before
No return
Because Ive made up my mind
That this time Ill make it
Thru your door
No return - I rode above the clouds
So far below me
But didnt get as high as
When you hold me
Now Ive reached

Penny Lane

(LennonMcCartney)
In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say hello
On the corner is a banker with a motorcar
The little children laugh at him behind his back
And the banker never wears a mack
In the pouring rain, very strange
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back
In Penny Lane there is a fireman with an hourglass
And in his pocket is a portrait of the queen
He likes to keep his fire engine clean
It's a clean machine
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
A four of fish and finger pies
In summer, meanwhile back
Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout
The pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray
And though she feels as if she's in a play
She is anyway
In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer
We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim
And then the fireman rushes in
From the pouring rain, very strange
Penny lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back
Penny lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies

Half-penny, Two-penny

Written by james young
Lead vocals by james young
Half penny, two penny, gold krugerrand
He was exceedingly rich for such a young man
Sad story, old story
Bring out the band
Another divorce just a few hundred grand
Half penny, two penny, back of the queue
Yes mister poor man this means you
Justice for money what can you say
We all know its the american way
Yes, Im gonna shake myself loose
Back home across the sea
Where I know that I will be free
Half penny, two penny, back in the states
You just couldnt take that african pace
Yes, mrs. cleaver your sons home to stay
We all know its the american way
Yes, Im gonna shake myself loose
Back home across the sea
Where I know that I will be free
Come here - hey angelo... whats happenin?
Hey, stosh, good to see ya
What the hell you doin?
Were tearing this old building down here
Oh youre kiddin me. remember when we were kids, and we used to come here every saturday afternoon to see a cartoon?
Yeah, I remember
Well whats she lost to?
Who knows- politicians, taxes...its a disgrace
Im not surprised, they make me sick. they dont make theaters like this any more.
Half penny, two penny, ashes to dust
The almighty dollar says in God we trust
Justice for money how much more can I pay
We all know its the american way
Yes, Im gonna shake myself loose
Back home across the sea
Where I know that I will be free
(I want to be free)
Yes, Im gonna shake myself loose
Back home across the sea
Where I know that I will be free
(we all want to be free)

Penny Brings Melodie To Life

Penny with her sewing flair,
sews Melodie doll and yarns her hair.
Penny makes Melodie into a small doll,
once Melodie's alive the two have a ball.
Melodie writes Penny once in awhile,
she even visited her in the hospital.
Melodie had to make sure Penny was alright,
in fact Penny told the nurse, where is Suzy tonight?
Right then Melodie, Razel and me soon arrived,
to sit by friend Penny's dear old side.
Now Penny gets healthy and recovers real soon,
she enjoys her grandchildren and her new life too.
Thank you Penny for all your generosity,
if it wasn't for you, the world would not have Melodie.

He asked me if I'd take a penny for my thoughts.

A penny for your thoughts he asked,
and I told him the things on my mind.
A penny for your thoughts he asked,
I had thought then I'd be paid in kind.

A penny for your thoughts he asked,
and the closest friends we came to be.
A penny for your thoughts he asked,
I thought then the one he cared for, was me.

A penny for your thoughts he asked,
now rich with my thoughts he was.
A penny for your thoughts he asked,
I thought his reason was more than 'just because'.

A penny for your thoughts he asked,
he's made me rich with a broken heart.
A penny for your thoughts he asked,
now my life has a broken start.
