This Is The Rock

Written by jeremy spencer.
This is the rock
Weve been talking about
Yeah this is the rock
Makes you jump and shout
This is the rock
That knocks you right out
It makes you lose
All your troubles and cares
Youll lose your blues
They aint going nowhere
This is the rock
That hits you right there
Well you can get back on the roof
And shout it all around
Get up on your seats about
What Im putting down
Get em all a hoping to that crazy beat
Get up all a boppin and a tappin their feet
Cause its the rock
Moves you all day long
Yeah its the rock
Gettin everyone
This is the rock
That really turns you on
Whooooooo!
Well you can get back on the roof
And shout it all around
Get up on your seats about
What Im putting down
Get em all a hoping to that crazy beat
Get em all a boppin and a tappin their feet
Cause its the rock
Moves you all day long
Yeah yeah its the rock
Ah gettin everyone
This is the rock
That really turns you on
Yeah this is the rock
That really turns you on
This is the rock
That really turns you on
Whoa this is the rock...

From: Time In The Rock

XXIV
If one voice, not another, must speak first,
out of the silence, the stillness, the preceding—
speaking clearly, speaking slowly, measuring calmly
the heavy syllables of doubt, or of despair—
speaking passionately, speaking bitterly, hunger or hope
ordering the words, that are like sounds of flame—:
if one speaks first, before that other or the third,
out of the silence bringing the dark message,
the grave and great acceptance of the rock,
the huge world, held in the huge hand of faith:

and if it says, I hold the world like this;
here in the light, amid these crumbling walls;
here in the half-light, the deceptive moment,
here in the darkness like a candle lifted—:
take it, relieve me of it, bear it away;
have it, now and forever, for your own;
this that was mine, this that my voice made mine,
this that my word has shaped for you—

if this voice speaks before us, speaks before
ourselves can speak, challenging thus the dark;
waking the sleeping watcher from his sleep,
altering the dreamer’s dream while still he dreams;
so that on waking—ah, what despair he knows!
to learn that while he slept the world was made—
made by that voice, and himself made no less,
and now inalterably curved forever—

yes, if to wake, to cease to dream, be this,
to face a self made ready while we slept,
shaped in the world’s shape by the single voice—
if thus we wake too late and find ourselves
already weeping, already upon the road
that climbs past shame and pain to crucifixion—
seeing at once, with eyes, just opened, the world,
vast, bright, and cruciform, on which so soon
ascending we must die—
and to look backward,
but know no turning back; to go forward,
even as we turn our faces to the past;
still gazing downward from the hill we climb,
searching the dark for that strange dream we had,
which the voice altered and broke—
ah, can it comfort us,
us helpless, us thus shaped by a word,
sleepwalking shadows in the voice-shaped world,
ah, can it comfort us that we ourselves
will bear the word with us, we too, we too
to speak, again, again, again, again,—
ourselves the voice for those not yet awakened,—
altering the dreams of those who dream, and shaping,
while still they sleep, their inescapable pain—?

LX
The chairback will cast a shadow on the white wall,
you can observe its shape, the square of paper
will receive and record the impulse of the pencil
and keep it too till time rubs it out
the seed will arrange as suits it the shape of the earth
to right or left thrusting, and the old clock
goes fast or slow as it rusts or is oiled.
These things or others for your consideration
these changes or others, these records
or others less permanent. Come if you will
to the sea’s edge, the beach of hard sand,
notice how the wave designs itself in quick bubbles
the wave’s ghost etched in bubbles and then gone,
froth of a suggestion, and then gone.
Notice too the path of the wind in a field of wheat,
the motion indicated. Notice in a mirror
how the lips smile, so little, and for so little while.
Notice how little, and how seldom, you notice
the movement of the eyes in your own face, reflection
of a moment’s reflection. What were you thinking
to deliver to the glass this instant of change, what margin
belonged only to the expectation of echo
and was calculated perhaps to that end, what was left
essential or immortal?

Your hand too,
gloved perhaps, encased, but none the less
already bone, already a skeleton,
sharp as a fingerpost that points to time—
what record does it leave, and where, what paper
does it inscribe with an immortal message?
where, and with what permanence, does it say ‘I’?
Perhaps giving itself to the lover’s hand
or in a farewell, or in a blow,
or in a theft, which will pay interest.
Perhaps in your own pocket, jingling coins,
or against a woman’s breast. Perhaps holding
the pencil dictated by another’s thought.

These things do not perplex, these things are simple,—
but what of the heart that wishes to survive change
and cannot, its love lost in confusions and dismay—?
what of the thought dispersed in its own algebras,
hypothesis proved fallacy? what of the will
which finds its aim unworthy? Are these, too, simple?

LXVII
Walk man on the stage of your own imagining
peel an orange or dust your shoe, take from your pocket
the soiled handkerchief and blow your nose
as if it were indeed necessary to be natural
and speak too if an idea should recommend itself
speak to the large bright imaginary audience
that flattering multiplication of yourself
so handsomely deployed and so expectant
tell them between flingings of orange peel
or such other necessary details of your rôle
precisely what they are, or what you are
since—lamentably—they are so much the same thing.
Decrepit inheritor of the initial star!
do you yourself sometimes imagine
or even perhaps say to that peculiar audience
something of this? as that yourself and they
comprise one statement? supercilious
the actor may be, often is, to those who hear him
but to be supercilious to one’s self
even in one’s dramatic moments!—marvellous
decay of what in God’s first declaration
might have been good.

I Walk And Sing In Joy The Songs Of Others

I WALK AND SING IN JOY THE SONGS OF OTHERS

I walk and sing in Joy the songs of others
I have no mind for a poem of my own –

How can Exuberance be so useless?

I long for a poem as justification-

I write in my mind words like these
And feel I love my own Poetry –

But now there is Doubt
And the song of my own
I write to sing
Sober and serious
Demands its correction
And is rewritten and rewritten again
In a Silence without Joy.

You Can Take The Wings Off Me

(t. seals, e. setser)
Now Ive never been in with the fast crowd
Ive never been closer than just a little over the line
I know those nights Id find great temptations
I go home to bed alone
Pull the covers up over my mind
I let it go by and said Id save my feelings
But until I met you
I hardly used them at all
I should say no
Oh whoah I dont want to
Honey you will be the first one
To watch this angel fall
So you can take the wings off me
Lay them down so carefully
Hold me close tonight youll see
I am yours and you can take the wings off me
Oh you can take the wings off me
Oh lay them down so carefully
Oh I should say no
Oh whoah I dont want to
I am yours and you can take the wings off me

Few Can Resist The Autumn

Few can resist the Autumn.
And...
This season with changes upon them.
Few can resist,
The picturesqueness...
Of the Autumn.

With the color of the leaves turning bright,
To their delight.
Red and yellow with orange in sight.
From Sunrise until twilight.

Few can resist the Autumn,
When...
Autumn falls.
And...
Few can resist the Autumn,
When...
Autumn calls.
And the East Coast comes to host,
Them all...
Winter, Spring, Summer and again the Fall.

Few can resist the Autumn.
Hoping that Summer stalls.
Few can resist the Autumn.

Few can resist the Autumn.
Hoping that Summer stalls.
Few can resist the Autumn.

And the East Coast comes to host,
Them all...
Winter, Spring, Summer and again the Fall.
Few can resist,
The picturesqueness...
None at all.

Few can resist the Autumn.
Hoping that Summer stalls.
Few can resist the Autumn.
None at all.

The Rock Stops Here

(eric carmen/fred carmen)
(recorded by eric carmen)
Cool 101 / 1986
A dj in cleveland brought some bands to town
When the music got started
They tore the house down
People said everybody just went out of control
Alan freed grabbed a mike and called it rock and roll
They started bandstand in philly back in 55
And elvis rock-a-billy brought memphis alive
L.a. gave us surfers and detroits got soul
But theres only one home of rock and roll
And kids a hundred thousand strong
Burned the phone lines all night long
To send a message loud and clear
In the u.s.a., I said, the rock stops here
The rock stops here
Little richard brought miss molly
The rock stops here
Peggy sues with buddy holly
The rock stops here
Everybodys gettin down
The rock stops here
Oww! here comes the great james brown
The rock stops here
Chuck berrys with maybelline
The rock stops here
Jerry lees pianos screamin
The rock stops here
Elvis singin blue suede shoes
I need a shot of rock-a-billy
With my rhythm and blues
They looked from new york to l.a. to find the spot
Every city in the nation took their very best shot
When the dust all settled, one city stood tall
And they knew who deserved the rock and roll hall
So to prove the facts they already knew
They took a nationwide poll
That made the front page news
When the votes were counted, the results all showed
In cleveland, we eat, sleep and drink rock and roll
Kids a hundred thousand strong
Shouted, put the hall where it belongs
Now heres the message loud and clear
In the u.s.a., you know the rock stops here
I said the rock stops here
Cathys clowns with don and phil
The rock stops here
Fats is up on blueberry hill
The rock stops here
Ray charles shoutin whatd I say
The rock stops here
And sam cooke is twistin the night away
The rock stops here
Elvis doin jailhouse rock
The rock stops here
Chuck berry doin the duck walk
The rock stops here
Little richards singin woooo
I said, wop-bomp-a-loo-bop ba-lomp-bam-boom
Kids a hundred thousand strong
Shouted, put the hall where it belongs
Heres the message loud and clear
In the u.s.a., I said the rock stops here
The rock stops here
Little richard brought miss molly
The rock stops here
Peggy sues with buddy holly
The rock stops here
Everybodys gettin down
The rock stops here
Oww! here comes the great james brown
The rock stops here

The rock stops here

The rock stops here
Little richards singin woooo
I said, wop-bomp-a-loo-bop ba-lomp-bam-boom
I said the rock stops here
Gonna shout it to the nation
The rock stops here
At every radio station
The rock stops here
Say it loud and clear
cause in the u.s.a., you know the rock stops here

The Rock Cries Out to Us Today

A Rock, A River, A Tree
Hosts to species long since departed,
Mark the mastodon.
The dinosaur, who left dry tokens
Of their sojourn here
On our planet floor,
Any broad alarm of their of their hastening doom
Is lost in the gloom of dust and ages.
But today, the Rock cries out to us, clearly, forcefully,
Come, you may stand upon my
Back and face your distant destiny,
But seek no haven in my shadow.
I will give you no hiding place down here.
You, created only a little lower than
The angels, have crouched too long in
The bruising darkness,
Have lain too long
Face down in ignorance.
Your mouths spelling words
Armed for slaughter.
The rock cries out today, you may stand on me,
But do not hide your face.
Across the wall of the world,
A river sings a beautiful song,
Come rest here by my side.
Each of you a bordered country,
Delicate and strangely made proud,
Yet thrusting perpetually under siege.
Your armed struggles for profit
Have left collars of waste upon
My shore, currents of debris upon my breast.
Yet, today I call you to my riverside,
If you will study war no more.
Come, clad in peace and I will sing the songs
The Creator gave to me when I
And the tree and stone were one.
Before cynicism was a bloody sear across your brow
And when you yet knew you still knew nothing.
The river sings and sings on.
There is a true yearning to respond to
The singing river and the wise rock.
So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew,
The African and Native American, the Sioux,
The Catholic, the Muslim, the French, the Greek,
The Irish, the Rabbi, the Priest, the Sheikh,
The Gay, the Straight, the Preacher,
The privileged, the homeless, the teacher.
They hear. They all hear
The speaking of the tree.
Today, the first and last of every tree
Speaks to humankind. Come to me, here beside the river.
Plant yourself beside me, here beside the river.
Each of you, descendant of some passed on
Traveller, has been paid for.
You, who gave me my first name,
You Pawnee, Apache and Seneca,
You Cherokee Nation, who rested with me,
Then forced on bloody feet,
Left me to the employment of other seekers--
Desperate for gain, starving for gold.
You, the Turk, the Swede, the German, the Scot...
You the Ashanti, the Yoruba, the Kru,
Bought, sold, stolen, arriving on a nightmare
Praying for a dream.
Here, root yourselves beside me.
I am the tree planted by the river,
Which will not be moved.
I, the rock, I the river, I the tree
I am yours--your passages have been paid.
Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need
For this bright morning dawning for you.
History, despite its wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived, and if faced with courage,
Need not be lived again.
Lift up your eyes upon
The day breaking for you.
Give birth again
To the dream.
Women, children, men,
Take it into the palms of your hands.
Mold it into the shape of your most
Private need. Sculpt it into
The image of your most public self.
Lift up your hearts.
Each new hour holds new chances
For new beginnings.
Do not be wedded forever
To fear, yoked eternally
To brutishness.
The horizon leans forward,
Offering you space to place new steps of change.
Here, on the pulse of this fine day
You may have the courage
To look up and out upon me,
The rock, the river, the tree, your country.
No less to Midas than the mendicant.
No less to you now than the mastodon then.
Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister's eyes,
Into your brother's face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning.

The Poem I Do Not Have

THE POEM I DO NOT HAVE

The poem I do not have
The poem I would have written
The poem that is not here now
And will never be.

The poem I do not have
The poem I cannot see
These little morning flowers
Yellow in the breeze.

My Canadian Chronicles 22

Sometimes we go to places
to meet strangers
whom have come into our lives
never knowing what we might find.
We are moved by their kindness
and their giving up their time
to take us here and there
wondering all the time
how we can repay their generosity.
We can give them our friendship,
but never feeling that is enough.
We can only offer what we can give
which in our case is not much
always hoping one day
we can treat them to the world.
Forever we will link hands
across the oceans wide
hoping all the time they will visit us
and we can extend the same generosity
that they have shown to us.

You Can't Kill Rock And Roll

How many times can they fill me with lies
And I listen, again
Twisting the truth
And they're playin' around with my head O.K.
The things they will do
And the things they will say
When they don't really understand
Tears fill my eyes when I hear all the cries
For the reason today
And they don't really know
Even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve.
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock'n'roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock'n'roll
It's here to stay.
Looking through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their
stories untrue
Promises promises,
Telling me all of my glories overdue.
How many times have I heard it before
And I'll probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights,
Pawn in a table fight Losing to you.
And they don't really know
Even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve.
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock'n'roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock'n'roll it's here to stay.
Even the rhymes that they give me in times of confession
ain't true
Outcome is obvious
All for them none for us meaning you too
The things they will do
And the things they will say
When they don't really understand
Fear of rejection I need their protection
I'm making a stand
And they don't really know
Even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve.
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock'n'roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock'n'roll it's here to stay
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock'n'roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,

The Rock and The Bubble

Oh! a bare, brown rock
Stood up in the sea,
The waves at its feet
Dancing merrily.

A little bubble
Once came sailing by,
And thus to the rock
Did it gayly cry,--

"Ho! clumsy brown stone,
Quick, make way for me:
I'm the fairest thing
That floats on the sea.

"See my rainbow-robe,
See my crown of light,
My glittering form,
So airy and bright.

"O'er the waters blue,
I'm floating away,
To dance by the shore
With the foam and spray.

"Now, make way, make way;
For the waves are strong,
And their rippling feet
Bear me fast along."

But the great rock stood
Straight up in the sea:
It looked gravely down,
And said pleasantly--

"Little friend, you must
Go some other way;
For I have not stirred
this many a long day.

"Great billows have dashed,
And angry winds blown;
But my sturdy form
Is not overthrown.

"Nothing can stir me
In the air or sea;
Then, how can I move,
Little friend, for thee?"

Then the waves all laughed
In their voices sweet;
And the sea-birds looked,
From their rocky seat,

At the bubble gay,
Who angrily cried,
While its round cheek glowed
With a foolish pride,--

"You SHALL move for me;
And you shall not mock
At the words I say,
You ugly, rough rock.

"Be silent, wild birds!
While stare you so?
Stop laughing, rude waves,
And help me to go!

"For I am the queen
Of the ocean here,
And this cruel stone
Cannot make me fear."

Dashing fiercely up,
With a scornful word,
Foolish Bubble broke;
But Rock never stirred.

Then said the sea-birds,
Sitting in their nests
To the little ones
Leaning on their breasts,--

"Be not like Bubble,
Headstrong, rude, and vain,
Seeking by violence
Your object to gain;

"But be like the rock,
Steadfast, true, and strong,
Yet cheerful and kind,
And firm against wrong.

"Heed, little birdlings,
And wiser you'll be
For the lesson learned
To-day by the sea."

Christ is the rock

Mind you I tried to cope
As if life was the only hope
Loved ones were not at home
Why not try the rope
Hang myself and then drop
I have heard Christ is the rock
In him you're free from the mock
You can dance or may be hop
Unlike the king of pop
One is able to be like a pope...

Rollin The Rock

Feels so cold, so alone
An empty stage, no one home
I feel so strange, so scared
No point in screaming
I wont be heard
Youre so cold, youre so cool
Its so dark in this tomb
Time has come so soon
And time takes no prisoners
Except in the womb
Theres no way out, no escape
This silence is deafening
I have to cry out
Youre so cold, youre so cool
Its so dark in this tomb
Roll away the rock
Roll the rock away
Set me free from this grave
Am I forgiven, can I be saved?
Youve been so cold for so long
This silence is deafening
Was I so wrong?
Youre so cold, youre so cool
Its so dark in this tomb
Roll away the rock
Take that rock and roll it
Roll away the rock
You gotta roll the rock away
This silence is deafening

The Rock That Is Higher Than I

Even though a man may die
I will lead him to the Rock
That is higher than I

Men will say ' I will pray'
'I will take authority, I will bless'
Man thinks too much of himself
and his own holiness

Even though a man may die
I will lead him to the Rock
That is higher than I

Men will say ' you can depend upon me'
' I am a man of God, can't you see? '
'I am holy and wise, why I am a spiritual giant
to all the powers of hell, I'll be defiant'

Even though a man may die
I will lead him to the Rock
That is higher than I

And when you find that there's no way ahead
Turn away from men and turn to God instead
And you will find peace in the midst of your sorrows
Even if there shall be no tomorrow's

Even though a man may die
I will lead him to the Rock
That is higher than I

When my heart is overwhelmed
and darkness fills the sky
when I have reached the ends of the earth
I will run to the Rock that is higher than I

And On The 8th Day

The sky is fallin and the wheels of life are grindin out a brand new beat
The streets are burnin with the call of the wild, and I can feel the heat
Theyll call you names and spit in your face, but legends never die
Just pick up your guitar, on your knees and pray and hold your head up high
And on the 8th day God created rock and roll
On the 8th day God created rock and roll
Out of the ashes came the dawn and the shape of things to come
Never surrender, just carry on, straight to kingdom come
You sold your soul and virginity, ya cant rape a heart of gold
Yes youre born to rule, its destiny, now it can be told
Chorus:
And on the 8th day God created rock and roll (rock and roll)
And on the 8th day God created rock and roll
And on the 8th day God created rock and roll (rock and roll)
And on the 8th day God created rock and roll
Rock of ages carry the news to the heart of a brave new world
Feel the noise in the name of rock, let the heavens roar
Chorus repeats out...

30 (Vivekananda) The Rock at Cape Comorin

Swamiji had arrived
At the India’s tail end,
Cape Comorin by name,
Kanyakumari, by other name

In the sea shore temple there,
He prayed to Divine Mother.
From the shore he had a look,
And saw, at a distance, a big rock.

In the shark infested waters,
He courageously swam across,
And sat on the rock in meditation,
Keeping aside his emotion.

Across the roaring sea,
From the rock he could see
The places he had visited,
Wherever he had travelled.

A monk was dedicated to God.
In every soul there was God.
So, he was keen to look after
God the wicked, God the poor.

He took a bold decision
To serve God in man.
But how to get resources
For India to stand on its legs?

He saw America as a country
That can free India’s poverty,
Thro’ exchange of knowledge
On science and technology.

With this idea, from the rock,
He got up and swam back.
His journey started again
Towards northern region.

To eat, when nothing he had
Someone gave him food.
As if directed by God
To share the donor’s food.

Not willing to be a burden
On any of those poor men,
Better to starve, he decided
When there was no food.

He went to the forest
To sit and meditate,
And there came a tiger
With its own hunger.

Swamiji said, “Oh tiger,
We both sit here in hunger.
Let my body be your food
If you find this good.”

God’s will was otherwise.
The hungry tiger, in silence,
Turned back and went away,
Sparing his precious life that day.

Build Upon The Rock

Don’t build a life around anyone, but build your life upon God’s Son,
Build your life upon The Rock, God’s Cornerstone of Eternal Stock.
Through this life you will endure, on His foundation sound and sure,
By building a family in this life, in The Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

God the Father above sent His Son, to this earth below for everyone,
So men could move from shifting sand, to build upon The Son of Man.
Christ was sent to be a Cornerstone, of every family and every home,
In Christ God offers all salvation, God’s one and only true foundation.

Christ will become the stable part, of both your home and your heart,
He is the one part, you will find, that always gives you peace of mind.
As things in life must rearrange, you will find Christ does not change,
Unchanging Truths guide your life, when you’re on the Rock of Christ.

Christ will help you stand up tall, when others around you seem to fall,
As they stumble through life’s sand, Christ holds you up with His Hand.
He’s the one to build a future on, when all others have come and gone,
And a future that extends well beyond, this present earth that we’re on.

When we choose to build our life, on the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
He not only cares for what we see, but Christ extends our life eternally.
He prepares for us an eternal home; a place that we can call our own,
Where we will live forevermore, with the Eternal Rock, Christ our Lord.

Feet On The Rock

(Spoken)
Well, I wanna talk to you for a minute,
About an old man I met,
He said, Boy, you look in trouble,
And I bet your life's a mess,
He said, I used to have the same problem too,
I was way out of control,
You know the only thing that set it right for me,
Was a little good old rock and roll,
Chorus: (Sang)
I put my feet on the rock,
And my name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
I won't worry 'bout my soul,
I know my home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
I put my feet on the rock,
And my name on the roll,
I'd never heard the gosple,
Spread like that before,
I guess the message comes in many ways,
Those simple words of wisdom,
Can open heaven's door,
So every time I get the chance I say,
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
--- Instrumental ---
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
Well, You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
Now, put your feet on the rock,-ac

All In The Name Of Rock N Roll

(rod stewart , 1975/76)
Went downtown on the two fourtynine,
Playn for recognition of the new york town.
See, me and the boys got a rock n roll band;
They were so damn good, gonna lift up the man.
Well, we got ups, we got downs,
We got just so high till the sun goes down.
Got the ego, can be abused;
I got my two-toned shoes,
And I can sing the blues.
Look out, kids, its the f b i;
We got a problem, you keep me high.
Put on your clothes, take the smile off your face
And put your money where your mouth is or get out this place.
New york town is a meanass town,
We got a thousand bands singin underground.
Way down in new orleans its the same old thing;
Emotionl music a merry old thing.
Old king soul, he finaly gave us a jolt;
He played the vibes till nine and read from ten to four.
He played upside down, he played inside out;
Then a uniform band he was thrown into jail.
Look out, kids, its the f b i;
We got a problem, you keep me high.
Put on your clothes, take the smile off your face
And put your money where your mouth is or get out this place.
Gettin hungry I know little woman,
Cant get a smell cause my nose is blocked.
Im so high, I cant believe it;
Hotel dogs are knockin on my door.
Two night of singin nearly out on the end,
Left the two parts red, oh what a square.
As soon as the man, theres no sweeter song,
Listen, mc cartney, were the band on the run.
Look out, kids, its the f b i;
We got a problem, you keep me high.
Put on your clothes, take the smile off your face
And put your money where your mouth is or get out this place.
Oh yeah

You Can't Kill Rock 'N Roll

How many time can they
Fill me with lies and I listen again
Twisting the truth and they're
Playing around with my head OK
The things they will do and
The things they will say
When they don't really understand
Tears fill my eyes when I
Hear all the cries
For the reason today
And they don't really know
Even what they're talking about
And I can't imagine
What empty heads can achieve
Chorus:
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock and roll
Is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock 'n roll
It's here to stay
Looking through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their stories untrue
Promises, promises
Telling me all of my glories overdue
How many times have I heard it before
And I'm probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights,
Pawn in a table light
Losing to you
And they don't really know
Even what they're talking about
And I can't imagine
What empty heads can achieve
Chorus:
Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock 'n roll
Is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock 'n roll
It's here to stay
Solo
Even the rhymes that they
Give me times of confession ain't true
Outcome is obvious
All for them, none for us meaning you too
The things they will do and
The things they will say
When they don't really understand
Fear of rejection I need their protection
I'm making a stand
And they don't really know
Even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine
What empty heads can achieve
Chorus:
Leave me alone
Don't want you promises no more
'Cause rock 'n roll
Is my religion and my law
Won't ever change
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock 'n roll
It's here to stay
Leave me alone
Don't want you promises no more
'Cause rock 'n roll
Is my religion and my law
Won't ever change
May think it's strange
I'm born to rock 'n roll
I'm here to stay.....yeah!!!
