Tonight Is Forever

I may be wrong, I may be right
Moneys short and time is tight
Dont even think about those bills
Dont pay the price, we never will
Were out again another night
I never have enough
It will be like this forever
If we fall in love
Tonight is forever, tell me now you dont disagree
Tonight is forever, open the door, you hold the key
I may be wrong, I may be right
So dont depend, I could lie
I havent got a job to pay
But I could stay in bed all day
Then out again another night
I never have enough
It will be like this forever
If we fall in love
Tonight is forever, tell me now you dont disagree
Tonight is forever, open the door, you hold the key
Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonight is the first night
We dont need any more when we dance
I dont think of the future tonight
Tonight is forever, tell me now you dont disagree
Tonight is forever, open the door, you hold the key
I may be wrong, I may be right
But I dont give up any night
You could say conventional
And I could claim intentional
Were out again another night
We never have enough
It will be like this forever
When we fall in love
Tonight is forever, tell me now you dont disagree
Tonight is forever, open the door, you hold the key
Tonight is forever, tell me now you dont disagree
Tonight is forever, open the door, you hold the key
Tonight

The Hind And The Panther, A Poem In Three Parts : Part II.

“Dame,” said the Panther, “times are mended well,
Since late among the Philistines you fell.
The toils were pitched, a spacious tract of ground
With expert huntsmen was encompassed round;
The inclosure narrowed; the sagacious power
Of hounds and death drew nearer every hour.
'Tis true, the younger lion 'scaped the snare,
But all your priestly calves lay struggling there,
As sacrifices on their altars laid;
While you, their careful mother, wisely fled,
Not trusting destiny to save your head.
For, whate'er promises you have applied
To your unfailing Church, the surer side
Is four fair legs in danger to provide;
And whate'er tales of Peter's chair you tell,
Yet, saving reverence of the miracle,
The better luck was yours to 'scape so well.”
“As I remember,” said the sober Hind,
“Those toils were for your own dear self designed,
As well as me; and with the selfsame throw,
To catch the quarry and the vermin too,—
Forgive the slanderous tongues that called you so.
Howe'er you take it now, the common cry
Then ran you down for your rank loyalty.
Besides, in Popery they thought you nurst,
As evil tongues will ever speak the worst,
Because some forms, and ceremonies some
You kept, and stood in the main question dumb.
Dumb you were born indeed; but, thinking long,
The test, it seems, at last has loosed your tongue:
And to explain what your forefathers meant,
By real presence in the sacrament,
After long fencing pushed against a wall,
Your salvo comes, that he's not there at all:
There changed your faith, and what may change may fall.
Who can believe what varies every day,
Nor ever was, nor will be at a stay?”
“Tortures may force the tongue untruths to tell,
And I ne'er owned myself infallible,”
Replied the Panther: “grant such presence were,
Yet in your sense I never owned it there.
A real virtue we by faith receive,
And that we in the sacrament believe.”
“Then,” said the Hind, “as you the matter state,
Not only Jesuits can equivocate;
For real, as you now the word expound,
From solid substance dwindles to a sound.
Methinks, an Æsop's fable you repeat;
You know who took the shadow for the meat:
Your Church's substance thus you change at will,

It Takes One To Know One's Love

It takes one to know one's love!
So enduring,
So lovely;
And, we are who we love on this earth.

It takes one to know one's love!
So enduring,
So lovely;
And, you are what you eat on this earth.

Please, pleased!
So enduring,
So lovely;
And, you will always stay in my heart.

Cloak, oak, soak, croak;
Block, lock, dock, mock, cock, rock!
However, it takes one to know one's love.

So enduring,
So lovely! !
Bock, pock, clock, hock, knock, stock;
But, it takes one to know one's love.

I Love You Anyways

You were on my mind
Inside the cinema
You looked so beautiful
I almost had to go
and when I got outside
I thought of you again
I think you should be framed
In some fine art gallery
I know you'd disagree with me
But I love you anyways
And should I climb high my
Dreary city walls
They make me feel so small
Oh let me fade away
This city's so cold and old
Forever rain or snow
i'd really love to come and go
Oh won't you stay with me
I know you'd disagree with me
I just know you'd disagree
but I love you anyways
You were on my mind
Inside the cinema
You looked so beautiful
I almost dried an eye
And when I got outside
I caught the 44
It dropped me outside my front door
Forgot what I'd been living for

My Dear Lady

You who have the world at your feet
Sit there and tell me you feel so alone
Yet you give your advice so easily
And tell me this is my one and only home
Dear Lady I disagree with you
There are times you will act friendly
Other times you will be so cold inside
How you try to somehow scold me
With your stern voice and angry eyes
Dear Lady I disagree with you
You tell me that one day I'll learn
All my wild ways will lead me wrong
I stand there and shake my head so
Knowing you are more then wrong
Dear Lady I disagree with you

Its My Neighborhood

Dont get too close to me,
Dont overreact,
Youre not the enemy as a matter of fact,
You got your pretty face and you got any name you wore
Gonna stick by you, gonna stumble over what to do.
I want it, good lovin wanna be your plaything.
I want it, good lovin bring out the beast in me.
I want it, good lovin wanna make your heart sing,
In the shadows we are free, and I walk you through it.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong.
Youre in trouble if you
Disagree with me.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong,
You find out why.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong.
Youre in trouble if you
Disagree with me.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong,
You find out why.
Verse 2:
So many tell you that you cant win
Its a battle if youre lonely
Or if youre starting over
Two-fisted and fast on your feet
And you know theres something more
And the city kicks it out of you and...
I want it, good lovin wanna be your plaything.
I want it, good lovin bring out the worst in me.
I want it, good lovin wanna make your heart sing,
In the shadows we are free, and I walk you through it.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong.
Youre in trouble if you
Disagree with me.
Its my neighborhood,
Thats where I belong,
You find out why.

Sweet Dreams / Hell Outro

[First Verse:]
Sweet dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
Travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody's looking for something.
[Chorus:]
Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you.
Some of them want to be abused.
[Repeat First Verse]
Sweet dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
Travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody's looking for something.
[Chorus]
Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you.
Some of them want to be abused.
I wanna use you and abuse you.
I wanna know what's inside you.
(Whispering and Moaning:
Hold your head up, movin' on.
Keep your head up, movin' on.)
Movin' on! x3
I'm gonna use you and abuse you.
I'm gonna know what's inside.
Gonna use you and abuse you.
I'm gonna know what's inside you.

Could It Be

Well I don't know what to say
Because there's truth to what you say
I know it kills you I'm this way
There's something different every day
Could it be I that I never had a chance to grow inside?
Could it be that my habit is to find a place to hide?
Could it be that sometimes I say things just to disagree
Could it be that I'm only being me?
Not easy living in my mind
A little peace is hard to find
My every thought is undermined
By all the history inside
Could it be I that I never had a chance to grow inside?
Could it be that my habit is to find a place to hide?
Could it be that sometimes I say things just to disagree
Could it be that I'm only being me?
I know I hear the words you said
Over and over again
I just can't get them through my head
There's just to many voices
Must be like living with the dead
Waiting for me to begin
To do the things that I have said
And for this I'm sorry
So there's some truth to what you say
Could it be I that I never had a chance to grow inside?
Could it be that my habit is to find a place to hide?
Could it be that sometimes I say things just to disagree
Could it be that I'm only being me?

You would have understood me, had you waited

You would have understood me, had you waited;
I could have loved you, dear! as well as he:
Had we not been impatient, dear! and fated
Always to disagree.

What is the use of speech? Silence were fitter:
Lest we should still be wishing things unsaid.
Though all the words we ever spake were bitter,
Shall I reproach you dead?

Nay, let this earth, your portion, likewise cover
All the old anger, setting us apart:
Always, in all, in truth was I your lover;
Always, I held your heart.

I have met other women who were tender,
As you were cold, dear! with a grace as rare.
Think you, I turned to them, or made surrender,
I who had found you fair?

Had we been patient, dear! ah, had you waited,
I had fought death for you, better than he:
But from the very first, dear! we were fated
Always to disagree.

Late, late, I come to you, now death discloses
Love that in life was not to be our part:
On your low lying mound between the roses,
Sadly I cast my heart.

I would not waken you: nay! this is fitter;
Death and the darkness give you unto me;
Here we who loved so, were so cold and bitter,
Hardly can disagree.

I Said 'Suppose' Because

You posed an opposition,
'Cause I said, 'Suppose'.
Without a hint or clue,
Of why my 'supposing' rose.

You doubt me without even knowing...
Whether or not I might agree.
You doubt me without even knowing...
Whether or not you'll disagree with me.

You posed an opposition,
'Cause I said, 'Suppose'.
Without a hint or clue,
Of why my 'supposing' rose.

You doubt me without even knowing...
Whether or not I might agree.
You doubt me without even knowing...
Whether or not you'll disagree with me.

I said 'suppose' because a picture painted...
Needed for me and it to get,
Acquainted.
You have tainted my intention!

You posed an opposition,
'Cause I said, 'Suppose'.
Without a hint or clue,
Of why my 'supposing' rose.

You doubt me without even knowing...
Whether or not I might agree.
You doubt me without even knowing...

Enduring The Storms of Life

A petal falls from a
flower
quietly to the ground

a tree limb dries up
breaks off, falls away
enduring the storms

Ships sail off to sea
enduring many storms
along the way fights
to maintain

returning to port,
enduring the storms

False Echos

[transcribed by jon l]
False echos
By: jimmy buffett
1996
The skies over cuba turned pink with the light
And the waterfront ritual began to ignite
All the ships in the harbor were warmed by the sun
Twenty-fifth of november, 1921
On the old chicamauga the signal jacks flew
And the message they spelled out caused a great bally hoo
Every ship in havana then hoisted away
All the pennants were a flyin on my dads first birthday
Enduring echoes call out from his past
Time aint for savin no times not for that
Chasing false echoes like a lost legionnaire
He waltzes on memories while he fades like a flare
Now his storybook childhood was not make believe
On the decks of a tall ship he was taught to achieve
Witnessed storms and starvation natural wonders and force
Oh the life of a sailor steers a wanderin course
Enduring echoes call out from his past
Time aint for savin no times not for that
Chasing false echoes like a lost legionnaire
He waltzes on memories while he fades like a flare
Well now life throws us curve balls we never can reach
He gave up the ocean but he lived by the beach
Where he raised up his family taught us all to survive
Then the wind went away in 1995
[whistle/violin break]
Now the old chicamauga has slipped by the ways
She lies on the bottom of old mobile bay
Where the ghosts of his father and his brother are near
They protect him and tell him theres nothin to fear
Cause its family tradition we take to the sea
And its a time in the future for cameron and me
Enduring echoes call out from his past
Time aint for saving no times not for that
Chasing false echoes like a lost legionnaire
He waltzes on memories while he fades like a flare

Time & Motion

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Time and motion
Wind and sun and rain
Days connect like boxcars in a train
Fill them up with precious cargo
Squeeze in all that you can find
Spontaneous elation
And the long-enduring kind
Time and motion
Flesh and blood and fire
Lives connect in webs of gold and razor wire
Spin a thread of precious contact
Squeeze in all that you can find
Spontaneous relations
And the long-enduring kind
The mighty ocean
Dances with the moon
The silent forest
Echoes with the loon
Time and motion
Live and love and dream
Eyes connect like interstellar beams
Superman in supernature
Needs all the comfort he can find
Spontaneous emotion
And the long enduring kind

The Dream

'TWAS summer eve; the changeful beams still play'd
On the fir-bark and through the beechen shade;
Still with soft crimson glow'd each floating cloud;
Still the stream glitter'd where the willow bow'd;
Still the pale moon sate silent and alone,
Nor yet the stars had rallied round her throne;
Those diamond courtiers, who, while yet the West
Wears the red shield above his dying breast,
Dare not assume the loss they all desire,
Nor pay their homage to the fainter fire,
But wait in trembling till the Sun's fair light
Fading, shall leave them free to welcome Night!

So when some Chief, whose name through realms afar
Was still the watchword of succesful war,
Met by the fatal hour which waits for all,
Is, on the field he rallied, forced to fall,
The conquerors pause to watch his parting breath,
Awed by the terrors of that mighty death;
Nor dare the meed of victory to claim,
Nor lift the standard to a meaner name,
Till every spark of soul hath ebb'd away,
And leaves what was a hero, common clay.

Oh! Twilight! Spirit that dost render birth
To dim enchantments; melting Heaven with Earth,
Leaving on craggy hills and rumning streams
A softness like the atmosphere of dreams;
Thy hour to all is welcome! Faint and sweet
Thy light falls round the peasant's homeward feet,
Who, slow returning from his task of toil,
Sees the low sunset gild the cultured soil,
And, tho' such radliance round him brightly glows,
Marks the small spark his cottage window throws.
Still as his heart forestals his weary pace,
Fondly he dreams of each familiar face,
Recalls the treasures of his narrow life,
His rosy children, and his sunburnt wife,

To whom his coming is the chief event
Of simple days in cheerful labour spent.
The rich man's chariot hath gone whirling past,
And those poor cottagers have only cast
One careless glance on all that show of pride,
Then to their tasks turn'd quietly aside;
But him they wait for, him they welcome home,
Fond sentinels look forth to see him come;
The fagot sent for when the fire grew dim,
The frugal meal prepared, are all for him;
For him the watching of that sturdy boy,

Carried On My Back To Master

If tears from my eyes,
Are seen to drip...
As if from a faulty faucet,
Needing to be fixed.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.

If my tongue seems to be tensed,
And incensed with laments.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.

If my comments should offend,
Anyone listening...
With pretensions they defend.
I have just observed and visited,
The sufferings endured...
By my sisters and brothers.
Enduring hunger and homelessness...
In once thriving neighborhoods.

And I do the best I can...
To continue my journey,
With a focus at my command.
Trying to comprehend and understand...
Why my tears,
Falling in a silence no one hears...
Can not nourish or flourish those lives I pass,
As I grasp these visions appearing...
On my path.
Knowing my own burdens and tasks,
Are carried on my back to master!

Enduring Farewell

Each time the wind ruffles the leaves in the trees outside and a distant bird sings, I see your face and hear your name.

As each day begins it's all I can do, to cope with your enduring farewell.

When the night sky appears I find
myself staring at the heavens and saying I love you over and over again.

A part of me has died with your enduring farewell.

No words ever meant so much, as when you said, 'I love You'.  Lying in bed at night, I cry sweet tears for you and it's all I can do, to cope with your enduring departure.

Each time the wind gently moves through the trees and a song bird sings it's sweet medley, I'll see your face and hear your name, because it's my way of dealing with your lasting farewell.

CRYSTAL GLOW

Madhur Veena Comment: Who is she? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ....You write good!

Margaret Alice Comment: Beautiful, it stikes as heartfelt words and touches the heart, beautiful sentiments, sorry, I repeat myself, but I am delighted. Your poem is like the trinkets I collect to adorn my personal space, pure joy to read, wonderful! Only a beautiful mind can harbour such sentiments, you have a beautiful mind. I am glad you have found someone that inspires you to such heights and that you share it with us, you make the world a mroe wonderful place.

Margaret Alice Comment: Within the context set by the previous poem, “Cosmic Probe”, the description of a lover’s adoration for his beloved becomes a universal ode sung to the abstract values of love, joy and hope personified by light, colours, fragrance and beauty, qualities the poet assigns to his beloved, thus elevating her to the status of an uplifting force because she brings all these qualities to his attention. The poet recognises that these personified values brings him fulfilment and chose the image of a love relationship to illustrate how this comes about; thus a love poem becomes the vehicle to convey spiritual epiphany.

FRAGRANT JASMINE

Margaret Alice Comment: Your words seem to be directed to a divine entity, you seem to be addressing your adoration to a divinity, and it is wonderful to read of such sublime sentiments kindled in a human soul. Mankind is always lifted up by their vision and awareness of divinity, thank you for such pure, clear diction and sharing your awareness of the sublime with us, you have uplifted me so much by this vision you have created!

Margaret Alice Comment: The poet’s words seem to be directed to a divine entity, express adoration to a divinity who is the personification of wonderful qualities which awakens a sense of the sublime in the human soul. An uplifting vision and awareness of uplifting qualities of innocence represented by a beautiful person.

I WENT THERE TO BID HER ADIEU

Kente Lucy Comment: wow great writing, what a way to bid farewell

Margaret Alice Comment: Sensory experience is elevated by its symbolical meaning, your description of the scene shows two souls becoming one and your awareness of the importance of tempory experience as a symbol of the eternal duration of love and companionship - were temporary experience only valid for one moment in time, it would be a sad world, but once it is seen as a symbol of eternal things, it becomes enchanting.

I’M INCOMPLETE WITHOUT YOU

Margaret Alice Comment: You elevate the humnan experience of longing for love to a striving for sublimity in uniting with a beloved person, and this poem is stirring, your style of writing is effective, everything flows together perfectly.

Margaret Alice Comment:

'To a resplendent glow of celestial flow
And two split halves unite never to part.'

Reading your fluent poems is a delight, I have to tear myself away and return to the life of a drudge, but what a treasure trove of jewels you made for the weary soul who needs to contemplate higher ideals from time to time!

IN CELESTIAL WINGS

Margaret Alice Comment: When you describe how you are strengthened by your loved one, it is clear that your inner flame is so strong that you need not fear growing old, your spirit seems to become stronger, you manage to convey this impression by your striking poetry. It is a privilege to read your work.

Obed Dela Cruz Comment: wow.... i remembered will shakespeare.... nice poem!

Margaret Alice Comment: The poet has transcended the barriers of time and space by becoming an image of his beloved and being able to find peace in the joy he confers to his beloved.

'You transcend my limits, transcend my soul, I forget my distress in your thoughts And discover my peace in your joy, For, I’m mere image of you, my beloved.'

Margaret Alice Comment: You are my peace and solace, I know, I am, yours too; A mere flash of your thoughts Enlivens my tired soul And fills me with light, peace and solace, A giant in new world, I become, I rise to divine heights in celestial wings. How I desire to reciprocate To fill you with light and inner strength raise you to divine heights; I must cross over nd hold you in arms, light up your soul, Fill you with strength from my inner core, Wipe away your tears burst out in pure joy How I yearn to instill hope and confidence in you we never part And we shall wait, till time comes right. the flame in my soul always seeks you, you transcend my limits, transcend my soul, I forget my distress in your thoughts And discover my peace in your joy, For, I’m mere image of you, my beloved.

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

Sweet dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas --
Everybody's looking for something.

Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you.
Some of them want to be abused.

Sweet dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody's looking for something.

Hold your head up
Keep your head up
Movin' on
