Maverick Voyages

Startling is the absence of vision.
It is clear these maverick voyages...
Have aborted from specifics.
It is as if an advancement towards the horizon,
Has been legislated to be dismissed.
And debating this,
Has led to retaliation.
And a resistance against its existence.

Maverick voyages have been declared annoyances!

Not connecting or allowed,
Is an acceptance of diversity.
Not connecting or allowed,
Is an empathy for those in need.
Not connecting or allowed,
Is an equality of all humanity.
Not connecting or allowed,
Is an honesty believed or released.
Not connecting or allowed,
Is a hope that is wished!
However...
Balled fists prepared to strike and hit,
Is allowed to connect and inflict...
More hatred.
More resentment.
More bitterness...
Sitting in between grinding teeth that grit and spit!
Until all goodness felt,
Has been lifted to leave...
A mass obsession,
Depressed in aggressive anger!

Startling is the absence of vision.
It is clear these maverick voyages...
Have aborted from specifics.
It is as if an advancement towards the horizon,
Has been legislated to be dismissed.
And debating this,
Has led to retaliation.
And a resistance against its existence.

Shintaro

Shintaro, Shintaro, O Shintaro
hero, samurai, loner, onmitsu
maverick, defender, O lover of justice

Shintaro walks with grace
Shintaro’s life is concentration
and quiet, peace and silence
Shintaro is skill and perfection

Shintaro is protector of child
woman and the poor and the orphans
the weak, the helpless
and of any who has been wronged

Shintaro, Shintaro, O Shintaro
hero, samurai, loner, onmitsu
maverick, defender, lover of justice

the ninjas come
like speeding stars
one after another
secret killers
with weapons of death
but none can beat Shintaro -
Akikusa Shintaro, master of peace and stillness
Samurai who sees with his being

Shintaro, Shintaro, O Shintaro
hero, samurai, loner, onmitsu
maverick, defender, O lover of justice -
you live in time
you live in mind

Maverick is a word which appeals to me more than misfit. Maverick is active, misfit is passive.

Born to Do

All my life I've been told,
What I could and could not do.
As if these messages were directly delivered.
Just to test that maverick in me.
To see if I committed myself,
To the speaking of falsities.

I was born to do what I've been doing.
Although I have been interviewed,
To qualify myself to chase someone else's dollar.
And to have my multi-faceted cultural identity used.
You know,
As window dressing!

All my life I've been told,
What I could and could not do.
As if these messages were directly delivered.
Just to test that maverick in me.
To see if I committed myself,
To the speaking of falsities.

And I have never been one,
To fake the scope of my realities...
For the purpose to charade.
Or hide them behind drapes.

Maverick

He remembers the backstabbing laughter.
And the heartfelt pain.
He remembers the innuendoed gossip...
And the slander done to him,
Still within him often remains.
He remembers his loved ones...
As some withered and died.
He remembers crying alone,
With no one to confide.
He remembers his struggles,
With aches in his body that persisted.
He remembers failed relationships...
With those who could not resist,
Communicating nothing but lies and conflict!
He remembers all of it,
And sometimes with a hidden bitterness that sits!
He remembers what it took,
To get released...to become unhooked.
With faith and a stick-to-itness,
Feeling as if dragging cinder blocks on each foot.
He remembers once being called a maverick!
And how today...
His maverick ways,
Bestows upon him a happiness...
Chartered by conviction.
And nothing he read from 'how-to-do' books.
Or afflictions of limiting restrictions.

Could he do it 'all' over again?
Probably not!
And why would he choose to?
To prove what?
And to who?

Construction Plans Should Always Take Into Account Security Breaches

we would walk casually
across the golf course
just enjoying a stroll
through the autumn night
across and into
the culvert
eyes level with the street
spy the cylindrical prize
on it's grail like perch

wait undetected

until the maverick would pass
if the trunk was open
we would cross the road

hustle up to the temp dock

roll a blue tank unsecured
silently
grab an end
then shuffle to the road

the maverick would roll around again
and stop
trunk would fly open
run and stuff it
into the car
backseat dives
then off into the night

1000 psi of laughing gas
medical quality
baloons anyone?

for about 15 years after that
i felt the world was wide open
that i lived in the wild west
for a time
i almost did

Yeah, she's a maverick! And I'm going to say this, and please don't take it the way it sounds. But, Sarah Palin to the GOP, this is what I've got to say: She is very much like herpes - she's not going away. Okay? That's it.

Waltzing Matilda

(sung by tico torres)
Wasted and wounded, it aint what the mood did,
Ive got what I prayed for now
Ill see you tomorrow, hey frank, can I borrow a couple of bucks from you
To go waltzing mathilda, waltzing mathilda,
Youll go waltzing mathilda with me
Im an innocent victim of a blinded alley
And Im tired of all these soldiers here
No one speaks english, and everythings broken, and my stacys are
Soaking wet to go waltzing mathilda, waltzing mathilda,
Youll go waltzing mathilda with me
Now I lost my saint christopher now that Ive kissed her
And the one-armed bandit knows
That the maverick chinaman with his cold-blooded style
And the girls stand by the strip-tease shows, go
Waltzing mathilda, waltzing mathilda,
Youll go waltzing mathilda with me
Now I dont want your sympathy, the fugitive says
That the streets aint for dreaming now
Manslaughter dragnets and the ghosts that sell memories,
Want a piece of the action anyhow
Go waltzing mathilda, waltzing mathilda,
Youll go waltzing mathilda with me
Its a battered old suitcase in a hotel someplace,
And a wound that will never heal
No prima donnas, the perfume is on
Its an old shirt thats stained with blood and whiskey
And goodnight to the street sweepers, the night watchmen, the flame
Keepers
Goodnight mathilda, too
And goodnight mathilda, too

Bishop Dance

Bishop danced with a thumbscrew woman
Did a double-quick back-flip and slid across the floor
The catholic traffic flowed freely across the river
And fiddlestick fiddled quick out the front door
Baby dumpling, mamas in the back tree
If the bough breaks mama might fall
Little sad and only, baby dont be lonely
Mama knows rithmetic, knows how to take a fall
Mama knows rithmetic, knows how to take a fall
And the kids are crying
Flapjacks, makeem fat, early in the morning
Little jack, grab your hat
Hear the breakfast call
Muskrat, bad old cat, kick him in the fireplace
Theres someone in the kitchen blowing dinah on their
Horn
Theres someone in the kitchen blowing dinah like theyre
Born
Maverick daddy got one-night prize
The glides like a monkey-mule kickin on the backslide
Over hill, over hill, daddy dont you spill now
Papa got a switch-stick, hes pumping little bill
Papa got a switch-stick, hes pumping little bill
And bill, hes crying
Tomahawk, tomahawk, daddy better duck out
The mohawks, the mohawks, theyre still out there in the woods
Molatar, okenah, running through my dreams now
With fire on their fingertips and injuns screams
Fire on their fingertips and feathers made of moonbeams
Early in the morning the cannoneer cried
I seem the sailors warning in the western sky
Oh mountain man, if you can, cut me down a fir tree
Branches full of candlesticks for baby and me
And my darling cried, she said, honey, the weather vane
Lately its been pointin the way to heaven
Scatterbrains, scatterbrains, watch out where you fall champagne, champagne,
A round for all the old choirboys
Theyre bustin off the altar chasing
Dinah through the hall
Theyre bustin off the altar chasing
Dinah through the hall
And like kids theyre crying
Flapjacks, make em fat, early in the morning
Little jack, grab your hat
Hear the breakfast call
Muskrat, bad old cat, kick him in the fireplace
Theres someone in the kitchen blowing
Dinah on their horn
Theres someone in the kitchen blowing
Dinah like theyre born.

A maverick feels like he has no choice however difficult his choice of expression. In my case, it was going backwards into tonality. It seemed so wrong. The idea that progress is going into the past in a new way is very strange, even though there are precedents.

Lessons taught...

Observations...
Ignor ed.

All ignored with lifestyles threatened!

'Perhaps you weren't considered qualified,
and that's why you were ignored! '

Oh...
I'm not referring to them as the ones doing the ignoring!
I'm referring to those who ARE qualified,
I'm glad I ignored!
I am the maverick...
Deemed unsuitable for their 'selected' tastes!
Look at the mess they are in now.
And 'they' are the ones certified...
With values and standards they uphold!

Sucked into an imploding vortex?
If that is what one chooses to accept...
Why take steps...
To follow as expected?

Be a rebel!
Be a maverick!
Be decidedly inventive.
And escape,
From the docile side of life!

So entertained,
And influenced...
By those distant!
Easily managed.

Misfit Destructionists

Born to slaughter falsities,
Are those branded nonconformists.
Or other maverick labels given,
To have many perceive them to be...
Misfit destructionists,
Methodically tearing down...
Concepts thought sound and solid.

Although cracks gone ignored,
Viewed upon those foundations once adored...
Have become too valued to renovate,
For fear an updating will expose what is faked.
To reveal carpenter ants have eaten through,
What was believed to accept as being concrete.
Instead of plywood used.

Waiting In The Wings

(andy hill/pete sinfield)
I need you like freedom
I feel you like rain
I see you like silver rails across an endless plain
And I know there are moments
You feel as I do
Thats why Im waiting for you
This time around I wont push for an answer
Both of us need to be sure
To be strong
When the moment comes
Ill be your dancer
Ill be your singer
And your song
When your heart is weary
When you want a love with no strings
I will be here waiting
Waiting in the wings
Waiting in the wings
A natural dreamer
A maverick soul
How close can I be to you
And still not lose control?
And as close as the ocean
As near as the sky
As near as the tears I dont cry
Maybe a fool has been drowned in a vision
Hung up to dry in the teeth of the wind
Believing in the truth of your decisions
Thats all there is until the end
When your heart is weary
When you want a love with no strings
I will be here waiting. Ill be waiting
Waiting in the wings
Ill be waiting
Ill be waiting
When your heart is weary
When you want a love with no strings
I will be here waiting
Waiting in the wings
When your heart is weary
When you want a love with no strings
I will be here waiting
Waiting in the wings
When your heart is weary
When you want a love with no strings
I will be here waiting
Waiting in the wings

Against The Grain

Folks call me a maverick
Guess I aint too diplomatic
I just never been the kind to go along
Just avoidin confrontation
For the sake of conformation
And Ill admit I tend to sing a different song
But sometimes you just cant be afraid
To wear a different hat
If columbus had complied
This old world might still be flat
Nothin ventured, nothin gained
Sometimes youve got to go against the grain
Well, I have been accused
Of makin my own rules
There must be rebel blood
Just a-runnin through my veins
But I aint no hypocrite
What you see is what you get
And thats the only way I know
To play the game
Old noah took much ridicule
For building his great ark
But after forty days and forty nights
He was lookin pretty smart
Sometimes its best to brave the wind and rain
By havin strength to go against the grain
Well, theres more folks than a few
Who share my point of view
But theyre worried
If theyre gonna sink or swim
Theyd like to buck the system
But the deck is tacked against em
And theyre a little scared
To go out on a limb
But if youre gonna make a difference,
If youre gonna leave your mark.
You cant follow like a bunch of sheep
You got to listen to your heart
Go bustin in like old john wayne
Sometimes you got to go against the grain
Nothin ventured, nothin gained
Sometimes youve got to go against the grain

And my strength is soaking away
To go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go a waltzing Malitda with me
Now the dogs they are barking
and the taxi cab's parking
A lot they can do for me
I begged you to stab me
You tore my shirt open
And I'm down on my knees tonight
Old bushmills I staggered
You buried the dagger
Your silhouette window light
To go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll go a waltzing Matilda with me
Now I've lost my St. Christopher
Now that I kissed her
And the one-arm bandit knows
And the maverick Chinaman

Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda

Go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda

And you can ask any sailor
And the keys from the jailor
And the old men in wheelchairs know
That Matilda's the defendant
She killed about a hundred
And she follows wherever you may go
