The Prime Of Kenny Silvers - Part 1 & 2

(part 1)
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny gets by on a fiddle almost every day
Chasing his childlike dream in an english town
Ambition like his street is paved in grey
Nothing made much sense anyway
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny working the local teenage underground
Searching his pent up emotions
Getting nowhere fast
His anger saved from days of hanging around
Explodes in some dark battleground
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny may think he's a king
But he wants a queen
Looking for real romance had it
With the backstreets
Tired of playing every game in the town
Waiting for the girl that he'd once seen
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
Kenny silvers the boy who disappeared
(part 2)
Then one day he found her
While out cruisin' the high street
Knew this love at first sight
As they ran for the first bus
He was thinking of diamonds
While she held his hand
And rain didn't seem to matter
As they reached their promised land
Kenny silvers
Kenny silvers
Kenny silvers
Kenny silvers
But his past would always find him
And he'd have to move again
Well he'd think may be just one more job
Would help to ease the pain
On the run in some cold room
As shelter from the dark
They swore some day together
They'd rip this world apart
Kenny silvers

Young Americans

They pulled in just behind the fridge
He lays her down, he frowns
Gee my lifes a funny thing, am I still too young?
He kissed her then and there
She took his ring, took his babies
It took him minutes, took her nowhere
Heaven knows, shed have taken anything, but
All night
She wants the young american
Young american, young american, she wants the young american
All right
She wants the young american
Scanning life through the picture windows
She finds the slinky vagabond
He coughs as he passes her ford mustang, but
Heaven forbid, shell take anything
But the freak, and his type, all for nothing
He misses a step and cuts his hand, but
Showing nothing, he swoops like a song
She cries where have all papas heroes gone?
All night
She wants the young american
Young american, young american, she wants the young american
All right
She wants the young american
All the way from washington
Her bread-winner begs off the bathroom floor
We live for just these twenty years
Do we have to die for the fifty more?
All night
He wants the young american
Young american, young american, he wants the young american
All right
He wants the young american
Do you remember, your president nixon?
Do you remember, the bills you have to pay
Or even yesterday
Have you been an un-american?
Just you and your idol singing falsetto bout
Leather, leather everywhere, and
Not a myth left from the ghetto
Well, well, well, would you carry a razor
In case, just in case of depression
Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors
Blushing at all the afro-sheilas
Aint that close to love?
Well, aint that poster love?
Well, it aint that barbie doll
Her hearts been broken just like you have

American Girls

Darling, Im afraid to close my eyes when Im going to bed
Im afraid youll crack the phone down over my head
Why are all american girls so rough?
Damn, that girl cant ever hurt you enough
Lady (lady), you knock me on my knees and I cant stand up
You got the look in your eye and you smack my butt
Why are all american girls so rough?

Long, Tall Texan

One, two, three, four
Giddy up
Giddy up
Well Im a long tall texan
I ride a big white horse
(he rides from texas on a big white horse)
Well Im a long tall texan
I ride a big white horse
(he rides from texas on a big white horse)
Well people look at me and say
Hurrah hurrah is that your horse?
(he rides from texas on a big white horse)
Yeah
Well Im a long tall texan
I wear a ten gallon hat
(he rides from texas with a ten gallon hat)
Well Im a long tall texan
I wear a ten gallon hat
(he rides from texas with a ten gallon hat)
Well people look at me and say
Hurrah hurrah is that your hat?
(he rides from texas with a ten gallon hat)
Yeah
Well I was walkin down the street
With my shinin badge
My spurs jinglin down at my feet
I seen a man a comin
Comin with a gun
And I just cant be beat
Well Im a long tall texan
I enforce justice for the law
(he rides from texas to enforce the law)
Well Im a long tall texan
I enforce justice for the law

Kenny The Crocodile

A crocodile that lived with many
who everyone knew as Kenny
was shunned by all the others
including his sisters and brothers.

Now Kenny was not one to really care
that his natural stench filled the air.
He thought it totally unnecessary and futile
that they should shun a brother crocodile.

He was forced to leave the muddy pool,
by the long nosed elders who did rule.
After walking and jogging for several days
he rested in the jungle and began to laze.

A keen eyed crocodile hunter close by
espied Kenny out of his one good eye.
He took careful aim and fired his rifle,
expecting Kenny to get an eyeful.

But Kenny rolled over towards the sun,
as the hunter again fired his gun.
He missed again as Kenny charged
at the hunter and his entourage.

Alas poor Kenny fell for a very old trick
and plunged into the hunter’s pit.
When soundly dead the natives jumped in
and relieved him of his valuable skin.

All over the world his patterned skin is bought
by those who give him not a thought.
I wonder if he thought, was it really worthwhile
being born a smelly crocodile.

American Dream

American dream
American dream
American dream
I must surrender to my American dream
Please do not call me
There is a wedding ring on my ring
And I am building my American dream
I found an American soul mate to love
And to share my life and my American dream
I am getting married and settling down
Good bye single life
Love is the best thing I can give to the people who also share my American dream
Soul mate give me a kiss
And let's dream the American dream
I want my self, you, and every body else to be a part of this American
Dream
We are starting over with an American dream
What I lost before
It is not of any value to me any more
I can't replace it
But you are a part of me
And that is what matters the most
This American dream belong to us and every body else
My heart belongs to you my soul mate
Days will come and go
But I am here for you
We can make a difference when we claim the American dream
Maybe tommorow we will sail on a moon beam
My soul mate has blue eyes
Soul mate I ask no more than this
Please give me a warm kiss
Somewhere in the American dream roses will bloom
And ships will sail across the sea
Poets will write their poetry
Singers will sing in the boulevard cafes some love songs that touch Every body's heart
Flower girls will sell flowers in the streets of the American dream so
The man can buy some
Flowers for there girl friends and lovers if they have any
I can't let any body else steal our American dream
We must save this American dream for us and every body else
If you want to be a part of the American dream
You will have to be a good citizen of the American dream

My World Is Over

Kenny Rogers & Whitney Duncan
Single record titled: My World Is Over
(Kenny)
I didn't look over my shoulder
I wasn't ready for this
Didn't see the signs on the horizon
I was so sure that you would never leave
But you did.
Chorus: (Kenny & Whitney)
So sweep away the sand and dry the ocean
And just, pack the moon and stars up in a cardboard box
And stop the clocks from chiming
Block the sun from shining
And paint the sky a deeper shade of blue
'Cause my world's over without you.
(Whitney)
I know I should just keep goin'
But I don't know where to start
I never thought I'd see the day
When you'd go and leave me here
With my broken heart
But you did.
Chorus: (Kenny & Whitney)
So sweep away the sand and dry the ocean
And just, pack the moon and stars up in a cardboard box
And stop the clocks from chiming
And block the sun from shining
And paint the sky a deeper shade of blue
'Cause my world's over without you.
(Whitney)
Maybe someday all the pain will fade
(Kenny)
Maybe this hurt will slowly slip away
(Whitney)
Maybe some things will never change
(Kenny & Whitney)
And I'll still love you.
(Kenny & Whitney)
Stop the clocks from chiming
And block the sun from shining
And paint the sky a deeper shade of blue
'Cause my world's over without you.
My world's over
My world's over without you
My world's over.
Stop the clocks from chiming
And block the sun from shining
'Cause my world's over without you
My world's over...

What Are We Doin' In Love

Kenny Rogers & Dottie West
(Dottie)
We're like summer and winter
We're not one bit alike
We're like satin and cinders
I'm definitely not your type
(Together)
Well, then what are we doin' in love
What are we doin' in a mess like this
What are we doin' love
(Dottie)
Why were you someone I couldn't resist
(Together)
What are we doin' in love
(Kenny)
Were like paper and matches
(Dottie)
We'll probly have our share of fights
(Kenny)
We're like roses and switches
(Dottie)
It's gonna be hard bit we've got to try
(Toghether)
So what are we doin' love
What are we doin' in a mess like this
What are we doin' love
(Kenny)
And what are we gonna tell all our friends
(Dottie)
You don't have to like someone
To love someone
That rule was made to be broken
(Together)
But if we have to say goodbye
To a life we've gotten used to
What are we doin' love then
(Dottie)
We're like sunup and sundown
(Kenny)
People say we're never going to last
(Dottie)
Like Uptown and downtown
(Kenny)
You like it slow but I like it fast
(Together)
What are we doin' love
What are we doin' in a mess like this
What are we doin' love
(Kenny)
What are we gonna tell all our friends

The American Way

1
I am a great American
I am almost nationalistic about it!
I love America like a madness!
But I am afraid to return to America
I'm even afraid to go into the American Express—

2
They are frankensteining Christ in America
in their Sunday campaigns
They are putting the fear of Christ in America
under their tents in their Sunday campaigns
They are driving old ladies mad with Christ in America
They are televising the gift of healing and the fear of hell
in America under their tents in their Sunday
campaigns
They are leaving their tents and are bringing their Christ
to the stadiums of America in their Sunday
campaigns
They are asking for a full house an all get out
for their Christ in the stadiums of America
They are getting them in their Sunday and Saturday
campaigns
They are asking them to come forward and fall on their
knees
because they are all guilty and they are coming
forward
in guilt and are falling on their knees weeping their
guilt
begging to be saved O Lord O Lord in their Monday
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
and Sunday campaigns

3
It is a time in which no man is extremely wondrous
It is a time in which rock stupidity
outsteps the 5th Column as the sole enemy in America
It is a time in which ignorance is a good Ameri-cun
ignorance is excused only where it is so
it is not so in America
Man is not guilty Christ is not to be feared
I am telling you the American Way is a hideous monster
eating Christ making Him into Oreos and Dr. Pepper
the sacrament of its foul mouth
I am telling you the devil is impersonating Christ in America
America's educators & preachers are the mental-dictators
of false intelligence they will not allow America
to be smart
they will only allow death to make America smart

Kenny Rogers - Pharoache Monch Dub Plate

F/ kenny rogers, pharoahe monch
[wyclef jean]
Yo Im happy to be in the south
To set off my tour in the countryside
But who better to set it off for me than this man right here
[kenny rogers]
Yo this kenny rogers chillin on the country side
With men like wyclef (uh-huh) jerry wonder (uh-huh)
Big jack (mm-hmm) big beast (mm-hmm)
And we gon do something like this for you
You got to know when to hold em (yeah, yeah!)
Know when to fold em (djs, djs!)
Know when to walk away (hip-hop, hip-hop!)
Know when to run.. (yeah, yeah!)
You got to count your dub-plates (ghetto, ghetto, ghetto)
Before you touch the turntables (all hoods!)
Cause if you run out of big tunes
That means your sound is done (yall ready? )
Chorus: kenny rogers
You got to know when to hold em
Know when to fold em (soundbwoys)
Know when to walk away
Know when to run.. (hey, hey, hey, hey..)
You got to count your dub-plates
Before you touch the turntables (djs)
Cause if you run out of big tunes
That means your sound is done
[pharoahe monch]
Get the hell up!
clef said, get the hell up!
Now throw your hands in the sky (bo! bo! bo! bo!)
Brooklyn in the back shootin craps yall whassup?
Ladies; lookin hot and pretty
Doin your thing in the club high saditty
Worldwide - the gritty committee pity the fool that
Act {shitty} in the midst of the calm, the witty

That got women in they thongs gettin on but not sisqo
Select your squad team and your itch
Bey know my flow muy caliente, fuego
No disrespect to soundbwoy, but you better step away from me
Easily defeat measley mcs and tease you
Ease back squeeze two in your wig and breeze through

The White Cliffs

I
I have loved England, dearly and deeply,
Since that first morning, shining and pure,
The white cliffs of Dover I saw rising steeply
Out of the sea that once made her secure.
I had no thought then of husband or lover,
I was a traveller, the guest of a week;
Yet when they pointed 'the white cliffs of Dover',
Startled I found there were tears on my cheek.
I have loved England, and still as a stranger,
Here is my home and I still am alone.
Now in her hour of trial and danger,
Only the English are really her own.

II
It happened the first evening I was there.
Some one was giving a ball in Belgrave Square.
At Belgrave Square, that most Victorian spot.—
Lives there a novel-reader who has not
At some time wept for those delightful girls,
Daughters of dukes, prime ministers and earls,
In bonnets, berthas, bustles, buttoned basques,
Hiding behind their pure Victorian masks
Hearts just as hot - hotter perhaps than those
Whose owners now abandon hats and hose?
Who has not wept for Lady Joan or Jill
Loving against her noble parent's will
A handsome guardsman, who to her alarm
Feels her hand kissed behind a potted palm
At Lady Ivry's ball the dreadful night
Before his regiment goes off to fight;
And see him the next morning, in the park,
Complete in busbee, marching to embark.
I had read freely, even as a child,
Not only Meredith and Oscar Wilde
But many novels of an earlier day—
Ravenshoe, Can You Forgive Her?, Vivien Grey,
Ouida, The Duchess, Broughton's Red As a Rose,
Guy Livingstone, Whyte-Melville— Heaven knows
What others. Now, I thought, I was to see
Their habitat, though like the Miller of Dee,
I cared for none and no one cared for me.

III
A light blue carpet on the stair
And tall young footmen everywhere,
Tall young men with English faces
Standing rigidly in their places,
Rows and rows of them stiff and staid

Virginia's Story

Elizabeth Gates-Wooten is my Grand mom.

She was born in Canada with her father and brothers.
They owned a Barber Shoppe.
I don't remember exactly where in Canada.
I believe it was right over the border like Windsor or Toronto.
I never knew exactly where it was.

When she was old enough she got married.

First, she married a man by the name of Frank Gates.
He was from Madagascar.
He fathered my mom and her brother and sister.
The boy's name was Frank Gates, Jr.
Two girls name were Anna and Agnes.

Agnes was my mother.

Frank Gates went crazy after the war
He drank a lot and died
Then grandma Elizabeth married a man by the name of Mr. Wooten.
He had a German name, but I don't think he was German.
She took his last name after they got married.

Then they moved to West Virginia in the United States.

Their son, Frank Gates Jr. Became a delegate in the democratic party.
He use to get into a lot of trouble because he liked to fight.
He was a delegate from the 1940's to 1970's.
He died of gout in the 1970's.

Anna was a maid and cook.

She baked cakes and stuff for people as a side line.
She had a hump on her back (scoliosis) .
She had to walk with a cane.
She could cook good though.
She did this kind of work all of her life, just like her mom, Elizabeth

They were both good cooks

They had a lot of money because they had these skills
Especially when people had parties.
Because they would make all of this food and then they would have left-overs.
We got to eat a lot of stuff we normally wouldn't get because of that.
When they cooked, they didn't use no measuring stuff, they would just use there hand.

My moms name was Agnes Barrie Gates.

She married James Wright and moved to Cleveland.

American Woman

Huh!
American woman
Stay away from me
American woman
Mama let me be
Dont come hare hanging around my door
I dont want to see your face no more
I got more important things to do
Than spend my time growin old with you
Now woman
Stay away
American woman
Listen what I say
American woman
Get away from me
American woman
Mama let me be
Dont come here knocking around my door
I dont want to see your shadow no more
Colored lights can hypnotize
Sparkle someone elses eyes
Now woman
Get away
American woman
Listen what I say
Huh!
American woman
I said get way
American woman
Listen what I say
Dont come hanging around my door
Dont want to see your face no more
I dont need your war machines
I dont need your ghetto scenes
Colored lights can hypnotize
Sparkle someone elses eyes
Now woman
Get away
American woman
Listen what I say
American woman
Get away from me
American woman
Mama let me be
I gotta go
I gotta get away
And I gotta go
I wanna fly away
Im gonna leave you, woman
Im gonna leave you, woman

The American Girl

You can see her walking down on a city street,
The american girl
Shes got the passion in her eyes
Shes got the blush on her cheeks,
The american girl
I love to watch her move, her body sways
She whispers then she laughs
Did you hear what she says
I wanna know if shes talking bout me
Doing things her daddy cant see
The american girl, out in the dark
Shes looking for love, oh oh
The american girl, she breaks hearts
But thats not enough
Shes such a mystery to me
Love is full of intrigue
And full of bogart mystique, the american girl
Shes got the promise in the night
The romance in the back seat, the american girl
I love to watch her move, her body sways
She whispers then she laughs
Did you hear what she says
I wanna know if shes talking bout me
Doing things her daddy cant see
The american girl, out in the dark
Shes looking for love, oh oh
The american girl, she breaks hearts
But thats not enough
Shes such a mystery to me
And she stares at herself
In the harsh white light
And she draws in her cheeks
Just like the model
So unsure of herself in the big wide world
The american girl
The american girl, out in the dark
Shes looking for love, oh oh
The american girl, she breaks hearts
But thats not enough
Shes such a mystery to me
The american girl, out in the dark
Shes looking for love, oh oh
The american girl, she breaks hearts
But thats not enough
The american girl, out in the dark
Shes looking for love, oh oh
The american girl, she breaks hearts
