Evrything Ive Got

Verse 1
Dont stamp your foot at me,
Its impolite
To stamp your foot at me
Is not quite right.
At mans ingratitude
A woman winks,
But such an attitude just stinks.
Refrain 1
I have eyes for you to give you dirty looks.
I have words that do not come from childrens books
Theres a trick with a knife Im learning to do
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Ive a powerful anesthesia in my fist,
And the perfect wrist to give your neck atwist.
There are hammerlock holds,
Ive mastered a few,
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Share for share, share alike,
You get struck each time I strike.
You for me- me for me-
Ill give you plenty of nothing.
Im not yours for better but for worse,
And Ive learned to give the well-known witches curse.
Ive a terrible tongue, a temper for two,
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Verse 2
Dont raise your voice at me,
Thats very rude.
To raise your voice at me
Is rather crude.
Its wrong essentially when woman yells,
And confidentially, it smells.
Refrain 2
Ill converse with you on politics at length,
Ill protect you with my superhuman strength.
If youre ever attacked Ill scream and say , boo!
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
I will never stray from home, Ill just stay put,
cause Ive got a brand-new thing called athlete s foot.
Im a victim of colds, anemia, too,
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Off to bed we will creep,
Then well sleep and sleep and sleep
Till the birds start to peep.
Ill give you plenty of nothing.
Ill be yours forever and a day
If the first good breeze does not blow me away.
Youre enough for one man, thats why Ill be true,
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.

Poor Paddy

[the pogues version]
-----------------------------------------
In eighteen hundred and forty-one
The corduroy breeches I put on
Me corduroy breeches I put on
To work upon the railway, the railway
Im weary of the railway
Poor paddy works on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-two
From hartlepool I moved to crewe
Found myself a job to do
A working on the railway
I was wearing corduroy breeches
Digging ditches, pulling switches
Dodging pitches, as I was
Working on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-three
I broke the shovel across me knee
I went to work for the company
On the leeds to selby railway
I was wearing corduroy breeches
Digging ditches, pulling switches
Dodging pitches, as I was
Working on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-four
I landed on the liverpool shore
My belly was empty me hands were raw
With working on the railway, the railway
Im sick to my guts of the railway
Poor paddy works on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-five
When daniel oconnell he was alive
When daniel oconnell he was alive
And working on the railway
I was wearing corduroy breeches
Digging ditches, pulling switches
Dodging pitches, as I was
Working on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-six
I changed my trade to carrying bricks
I changed my trade to carrying bricks
To work upon the railway
I was wearing corduroy breeches
Digging ditches, pulling switches
Dodging pitches, as I was
Working on the railway
In eighteen hundred and forty-seven
Poor paddy was thinking of going to heaven
The old bugger was thinking of going to heaven
To work upon the railway, the railway

Bacause The Night

Take me now, baby, here as I am
Hold me close, and try and understand
Desire is hunger is the fire I breathe
Love is a banquet on which we feed
Come on now, try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand, as the sun descends
They can't hurt you now can't hurt you now, can't hurt you now
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
Have I a doubt, baby, when I'm alone
Love is a ring a telephone
Love is an angel, disguised as lust
Here in our bed 'til the morning comes
Come on now, try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand, as the sun descends
They can't hurt you now, can't hurt you now, can't hurt you now
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
With love we sleep,
with doubt the vicious circle turns, and burns
Without you, oh I cannot live,
forgive the yearning burning
I believe it's time to heal to feel,
so take me now, take me now, take me now
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us

Roni

The truth about Roni, she? a sweet little girl
You could treat her nice real and hold her tight
Only tenderonis can give special love
A special kind of love that makes you feel good inside
If you believe in love and all that it can do for you
Give it a chance, girl, you?l find romance
And if you find a tenderoni that is right for you
Make it official, give her your love
My heart (Woo) belongs to tenderoni (She? my only love)
She? my only love (My only heart, baby)
My heart (Yeah) belongs to tenderoni (She? my only love)
She? my only love
The truth about Roni, she? always on the phone
Talkinto her homeboy, wishinthey were home alone, ooh

This is what a real tenderoni likes to do to you
And if you believe in love and all that it can do for you

And if you find a tenderoni that is right for you
Make it official, give her your love, ooh, yeah
My heart belongs to tenderoni (She? my only love)
She? my only love (My only heart)
My heart belongs to tenderoni (She? my only love)
She? my only love
The truth about Roni, she? a sweet olgirl
About the sweetest little girl in the whole wide world
She?l make the toughest homeboy fall deep in love
Said once you had a Roni you will never give her up
She? a special kind of girl that makes her daddy feel proud
You know the kinda girl that stands out in crowds
Found a tenderoni and the Roni is so right
I think I? gonna love her for the rest of my life
If you believe in love and all that it can do for you
And if you find a tenderoni that is right for you
Make it official, give her your love, ooh, yeah
My heart belongs to tenderoni (She? my only lover)

Paradise Regained

THE FIRST BOOK

I, WHO erewhile the happy Garden sung
By one man's disobedience lost, now sing
Recovered Paradise to all mankind,
By one man's firm obedience fully tried
Through all temptation, and the Tempter foiled
In all his wiles, defeated and repulsed,
And Eden raised in the waste Wilderness.
Thou Spirit, who led'st this glorious Eremite
Into the desert, his victorious field
Against the spiritual foe, and brought'st him thence 10
By proof the undoubted Son of God, inspire,
As thou art wont, my prompted song, else mute,
And bear through highth or depth of Nature's bounds,
With prosperous wing full summed, to tell of deeds
Above heroic, though in secret done,
And unrecorded left through many an age:
Worthy to have not remained so long unsung.
Now had the great Proclaimer, with a voice
More awful than the sound of trumpet, cried
Repentance, and Heaven's kingdom nigh at hand 20
To all baptized. To his great baptism flocked
With awe the regions round, and with them came
From Nazareth the son of Joseph deemed
To the flood Jordan--came as then obscure,
Unmarked, unknown. But him the Baptist soon
Descried, divinely warned, and witness bore
As to his worthier, and would have resigned
To him his heavenly office. Nor was long
His witness unconfirmed: on him baptized
Heaven opened, and in likeness of a Dove 30
The Spirit descended, while the Father's voice
From Heaven pronounced him his beloved Son.
That heard the Adversary, who, roving still
About the world, at that assembly famed
Would not be last, and, with the voice divine
Nigh thunder-struck, the exalted man to whom
Such high attest was given a while surveyed
With wonder; then, with envy fraught and rage,
Flies to his place, nor rests, but in mid air
To council summons all his mighty Peers, 40
Within thick clouds and dark tenfold involved,
A gloomy consistory; and them amidst,
With looks aghast and sad, he thus bespake:--
"O ancient Powers of Air and this wide World
(For much more willingly I mention Air,
This our old conquest, than remember Hell,
Our hated habitation), well ye know
How many ages, as the years of men,

The Light Of The Moon (Belongs To Me)

Written by Steve Byrd, Ricki & Kim Wilde
(Light of the moon...)
You can't touch it
It won't let you near
You can't hold it
Cos it will disappear
You can't keep it
It don't belong to you
And when you need it
There's nothing you can do
Love has the final word
You're a fool if you can't see
But I know that the light of the moon
Belongs to me
Not the warmth of the sun
Caress of the breeze
Not the sound of the wind
As it blows through the trees
But the light of the moon
Belongs to me
Not the warmth of your smile
Caress of your hand
Not the love that you give me
Again and again
But the light of the moon
Belongs to me
So many people forget it
Set love free
Love is a river
Love is a raging sea
Don't try to tame it
Or you will watch it die
Don't try to chain it
You've got to let it fly
Love has the final word
You're a fool if you can't see
But I know that the light of the moon
Belongs to me
Not the warmth of the sun
Caress of the breeze
Not the sound of the wind
As it blows through the trees

Your Southern Can Is Mine

Lookie here momma let me explain ya this
If ya wanna get crooked ill even give ya my fist
Ya might read from revelation back to genesis
Ya keep forgetten your southern can belongs to me
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine in the mornin
Your southern can belongs to me
Ya might go uptown have me arrested, put in jail
Some hotshots got money gonna pull my bail
Soon as i get out, hit the ground
Your southern can is worth a thousand, half a pound
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, talkin about it
Your southern can belongs to me
Ya might take it from the south, baby, hide it up north
Understand ya cant rule me and be my boss
Take it from the east and hide in the west
But when i get ya momma your canll see no rest
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, im screamin
Your southern can belongs to me
Now baby, ashes to ashes, sand to sand
When i hit ya momma then ya feel my hand
Give ya punch through that barbed wire fence
When i hit ya baby, ya know i make no sence
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, i know it
Your southern can belongs to me
Now look here woman, dont get hot
Im gettin me a brick outta my backyard
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, im takin about it
Your southern can belongs to me
Well if i catch you momma down in the heart of town
Im gonna grab me a brick and tear your can on down
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, i know it
Your southern can belongs to me
You maybe get bed sick, cause youre graveyard bound
Im gonna make you moan like a graveyard hound
So there aint no use in bringin no jive to me
Your southern can is mine, im screamin
Your southern can belongs to me

40-40 Home

Think in time
Early evening light will start to fade
And well be called inside
To wait for chance to say
Can I stay out late or maybe just an hour
But when you call I know that all I have to say is...
Forty forty home
You never could catch me
With a stocking and a ball
Around the world a yo-yo spun
You would skip and I would run
Those long days are slipping away
Days will pass
Taking turns to hide and lose our way
And beats will change the rhythm of the year
A worn out gate will swingalongasister
And running out calling to a friendly teaser
Forty forty home
You never would catch me
My ball against the wall
But around the world a yo-yo spun
Dodge the conkers one by one
But yours always came my way
Cross my path was something
I could not expect again
From beast to beauty, beautiful remain
Slide this way
Dont leave your past in shadow
And paper plane will fly your way on golden wings of...
Forty forty home
So now you have caught me
Your stocking said it all
Played the game and won, two, three
Made your move and captured me
So never let me go
Counting the spots on the lino
It seemed such a waste of time
But cant you stick to your side of the garden?
And I to mine!
Forty forty home
You never would catch me
My ball against the wall
But around the world a yo-yo spun
Dodge the conkers one by one
But yours always came my way

Homer

The Iliad: Book 2

Now the other gods and the armed warriors on the plain slept
soundly, but Jove was wakeful, for he was thinking how to do honour to
Achilles, and destroyed much people at the ships of the Achaeans. In
the end he deemed it would be best to send a lying dream to King
Agamemnon; so he called one to him and said to it, "Lying Dream, go to
the ships of the Achaeans, into the tent of Agamemnon, and say to
him word to word as I now bid you. Tell him to get the Achaeans
instantly under arms, for he shall take Troy. There are no longer
divided counsels among the gods; Juno has brought them to her own
mind, and woe betides the Trojans."
The dream went when it had heard its message, and soon reached the
ships of the Achaeans. It sought Agamemnon son of Atreus and found him
in his tent, wrapped in a profound slumber. It hovered over his head
in the likeness of Nestor, son of Neleus, whom Agamemnon honoured
above all his councillors, and said:-
"You are sleeping, son of Atreus; one who has the welfare of his
host and so much other care upon his shoulders should dock his
sleep. Hear me at once, for I come as a messenger from Jove, who,
though he be not near, yet takes thought for you and pities you. He
bids you get the Achaeans instantly under arms, for you shall take
Troy. There are no longer divided counsels among the gods; Juno has
brought them over to her own mind, and woe betides the Trojans at
the hands of Jove. Remember this, and when you wake see that it does
not escape you."
The dream then left him, and he thought of things that were,
surely not to be accomplished. He thought that on that same day he was
to take the city of Priam, but he little knew what was in the mind
of Jove, who had many another hard-fought fight in store alike for
Danaans and Trojans. Then presently he woke, with the divine message
still ringing in his ears; so he sat upright, and put on his soft
shirt so fair and new, and over this his heavy cloak. He bound his
sandals on to his comely feet, and slung his silver-studded sword
about his shoulders; then he took the imperishable staff of his
father, and sallied forth to the ships of the Achaeans.
The goddess Dawn now wended her way to vast Olympus that she might
herald day to Jove and to the other immortals, and Agamemnon sent
the criers round to call the people in assembly; so they called them
and the people gathered thereon. But first he summoned a meeting of
the elders at the ship of Nestor king of Pylos, and when they were
assembled he laid a cunning counsel before them.
"My friends," said he, "I have had a dream from heaven in the dead
of night, and its face and figure resembled none but Nestor's. It
hovered over my head and said, 'You are sleeping, son of Atreus; one
who has the welfare of his host and so much other care upon his
shoulders should dock his sleep. Hear me at once, for I am a messenger
from Jove, who, though he be not near, yet takes thought for you and

Every Heartbeat

Hear me speak whats on my mind
Let me give this testimony
Reaffirm that you will find
That you are my one and only.
No exception to this rule
Im simple but Im no fool
Ive got a witness happy to say
Every hour, every day.
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you.
Classic case of boy meets girl
Moving in the same direction
Youre not asking for the world
Im not asking for perfection.
Just a love thats well designed
For passing the test of time
Im here to tell you
Im here to stay
Every hour, every day.
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and theyll tell you its true
Every heartbeat belongs to you.
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim, yeah
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Yeah sure maybe Im on the edge
But I love you baby and like I said
Im here to tell you
Im here to stay
Every hour, every day.
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and theyll tell you its true
Every heartbeat belongs to you.
Every heartbeat bears your name (every)
Loud and clear they stake my claim, yeah
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you.
Every heartbeat bears your name (every)

Who Can See It

Ive been held up,
Ive been run down
I can see quite clearly now
Through those past years,
When I played towing the line.
I only ask, that what I feel,
Should not be denied me now,
As its been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
Ive lived in fear,
Ive been out there,
Ive been round and
Seen my share
Of this sad world
And all the hate,
That its stirred
I only ask,
That what I know,
Should not be denied me now
As its been learned,
And I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
I only ask, that what I feel,
Should not be denied me now
As its been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it.
My love belongs to who . . .

At A Meeting Of Friends

AUGUST 29, 1859

I REMEMBER--why, yes! God bless me! and was it so long ago?
I fear I'm growing forgetful, as old folks do, you know;
It must have been in 'forty--I would say 'thirty-nine--
We talked this matter over, I and a friend of mine.

He said, 'Well now, old fellow, I'm thinking that you and I,
If we act like other people, shall be older by and by;
What though the bright blue ocean is smooth as a pond can be,
There is always a line of breakers to fringe the broadest sea.

'We're taking it mighty easy, but that is nothing strange,
For up to the age of thirty we spend our years like Change;
But creeping up towards the forties, as fast as the old years fill,
And Time steps in for payment, we seem to change a bill.'

'I know it,' I said, 'old fellow; you speak the solemn truth;
A man can't live to a hundred and likewise keep his youth;
But what if the ten years coming shall silver-streak my hair,
You know I shall then be forty; of course I shall not care.

'At forty a man grows heavy and tired of fun and noise;
Leaves dress to the five-and-twenties and love to the silly boys;
No foppish tricks at forty, no pinching of waists and toes,
But high-low shoes and flannels and good thick worsted hose.'

But one fine August morning I found myself awake
My birthday:--By Jove, I'm forty! Yes, forty, and no mistake!
Why, this is the very milestone, I think I used to hold,
That when a fellow had come to, a fellow would then be old!

But that is the young folks' nonsense; they're full of their
foolish stuff;
A man's in his prime at forty,--I see that plain enough;
At fifty a man is wrinkled, and may be bald or gray;
I call men old at fifty, in spite of all they say.

At last comes another August with mist and rain and shine;
Its mornings are slowly counted and creep to twenty-nine,
And when on the western summits the fading light appears,
It touches with rosy fingers the last of my fifty years.

There have been both men and women whose hearts were firm and bold,
But there never was one of fifty that loved to say 'I'm old';
So any elderly person that strives to shirk his years,
Make him stand up at a table and try him by his peers.

Now here I stand at fifty, my jury gathered round;
Sprinkled with dust of silver, but not yet silver-crowned,

The four Monarchyes, the Assyrian being the first, beginning under Nimrod, 131. Years after the Floo

When time was young, & World in Infancy,
Man did not proudly strive for Soveraignty:
But each one thought his petty Rule was high,
If of his house he held the Monarchy.
This was the golden Age, but after came
The boisterous son of Chus, Grand-Child to Ham,
That mighty Hunter, who in his strong toyles
Both Beasts and Men subjected to his spoyles:
The strong foundation of proud Babel laid,
Erech, Accad, and Culneh also made.
These were his first, all stood in Shinar land,
From thence he went Assyria to command,
And mighty Niniveh, he there begun,
Not finished till he his race had run.
Resen, Caleh, and Rehoboth likewise
By him to Cities eminent did rise.
Of Saturn, he was the Original,
Whom the succeeding times a God did call,
When thus with rule, he had been dignifi'd,
One hundred fourteen years he after dy'd.
Belus.
Great Nimrod dead, Belus the next his Son
Confirms the rule, his Father had begun;
Whose acts and power is not for certainty
Left to the world, by any History.
But yet this blot for ever on him lies,
He taught the people first to Idolize:
Titles Divine he to himself did take,
Alive and dead, a God they did him make.
This is that Bel the Chaldees worshiped,
Whose Priests in Stories oft are mentioned;
This is that Baal to whom the Israelites
So oft profanely offered sacred Rites:
This is Beelzebub God of Ekronites,
Likewise Baalpeor of the Mohabites,
His reign was short, for as I calculate,
At twenty five ended his Regal date.
Ninus.
His Father dead, Ninus begins his reign,
Transfers his seat to the Assyrian plain;
And mighty Nineveh more mighty made,
Whose Foundation was by his Grand-sire laid:
Four hundred forty Furlongs wall'd about,
On which stood fifteen hundred Towers stout.
The walls one hundred sixty foot upright,
So broad three Chariots run abrest there might.
Upon the pleasant banks of Tygris floud
This stately Seat of warlike Ninus stood:
This Ninus for a God his Father canonized,
To whom the sottish people sacrificed.

This Heart Belongs To Me

(graham russell)
Where are the tricks that people play
When theyre afraid to say
I want you to hold on to me
If I let you go again tonight
Whose arms will keep me warm
And take me where I long to be
But if I lose and them surrender all I know
What would I do if you decided to let go
Hopelessly Id stand there with everything all gone
My head down in my hands
Just wondering why
This heart belongs to me
And I know what I believe
But now it longs to be
Only with you
Where are all the words I sometimes say
When Im afraid to ask
I want you to hold on to me
Anyway you want to let me know
Youre sharing my belief
Of wanting to hold on to me
I tell the truth and risk you running from my life
So much to lose I guess
You know how hard I try
Hopelessly Id stand there with everything all gone
My head down in my hands
Just wondering why
This heart belongs to me
And knows what I believe
But now it longs to be
Only with you
(repeat chorus)
My love it goes to only one, this heart belongs to me
My love I goes to only one, this heart belongs to me
My love this heart belongs to me
My love this heart belongs to me
(repeat chorus)

My Love Belongs To You

My nights belong to the sandman
'Cause I sure like a dream
My morning's belong to the wild-woods
'Cause I like to hear the birds sing
My soul belongs to heaven
My feet belong to my shoes
Oh, but baby my love belongs to you
My thoughts belong on tomorrow
'Cause today is all but gone
My memories belong on yesterday
'Cause I like to recall
My wishes belong upon a star
'Cause I believe they come true
But baby my love belongs to you
My love belongs to you
You and only you
These words are my heart talking
Believe me girl they're true
--- Instrumental ---
Oh, my wishes belong upon a star
'Cause I believe they come true
Oh, but my baby you know my love belongs to you
But baby my love belongs to you!...

Ive Got Five Dollars

Mister shylock was stingy
I was miserly too.
I was more selfish
And crabby than a shellfish.
Oh, dear, its queer
What love can do!
Id give all my possessions
For you
Ive got five dollars
Im in good conditions
And Ive got ambition
That belongs to you.
Six shirts and collars
Debts beyond endurance
On my life insurance
That belongs to you!
Ive got a heart
That must be spurtin!
Just be certain
Ill be true
Take my five dollars!
Take my shirt and collars!
Take my heart and hollers!
Evrything Ive got belongs to you!
Ive got five dollars
Eighty-five relations
Two lace combinations
They belongs to you!
Two coats with collars
Ma and grandma woreem
All the moths adore em
They belongs to you!
Ive got two lips
That care for mating
Therefore waiting
Will not do!
Take my five dollars!
Take my shirt and collars!
Take my heart and hollers!
Evrything Ive got belongs to you!

Roni

The truth about a roni, shes a sweet little girl.
You can treat her right, real nice, and hold her tight.
Only tender ronies can give a special love
A special kind of love that makes you feel good inside.
If you believe in love and all that it can do for you
Give it a chance, girl, youll find romance.
And if you find a tender roni that is right for you
Make it official. give her your love.
My heart belongs to tender roni, shes my only love. shes my only love.
My only heart, baby. my heart belongs to tender roni. shes my only love.
Shes my only love.
The truth about a roni, shes always on the phone
Talking to her homeboy, wishing they were home alone.
She sends you lovely letters with the smell of sweet perfume.
This is what a real tender roni likes to do for you.
And if you believe in love and all that it can do for you,
Give it a chance, girl, youll find romance.
And if you find a tender roni that is right for you
Make it official. give her your love, oh yeah.
My heart belongs to tender roni. shes my only love. shes my only love.
My only heart. my heart belongs to tender roni. shes my only love.
Shes my only love.
The truth about a roni, shes a sweet old girl
About the sweetest little girl in the whole wide world.
Shed make the toughest homeboy fall deep in love-
Said once youve had a roni, you would never give her up
Shes a special kind of girl that makes her daddy feel proud.
You know, the kind of girl that stands out in crowds.
Found a tender roni and the roni is so right.
I think Im gonna love her for the rest of my life.
And if you believe in love and all that it can do for you.
And if you ffind a tender roni thta is right for you.
Make it official. giver her your love, oh yeah.
My heart belongs to tender roni. shes my only lover. shes my only love.
My heart, oh yeah. my heart belongs to tender roni. shes my only love.
Shes my only love.

My Heart Belongs To Telstra

My heart belongs to Telstra
That’s where my heart belongs
My heart belongs to Telstra
So let’s sing the Telstra song.

There is Telstra and there’s BigPond
For the ‘phone and internet
Their services are priceless
So it’s higher bills you’ll get.

And their customer service
Is so efficient, really great
Whenever there’s an issue
Then it’s just your problem, mate.

They say we need fast broadband
To catch up with all the rest
When only a few months ago
They said BigPond was the best.

They do lots of advertising
With a warm and friendly feel
Saying please come back to Telstra
And if you do you’ll get a deal.

Their deals are quite amazing
There must be one that’s right for you
To play your part Telstra’s future
By increasing revenue.

My heart belongs to Telstra
That’s where my heart belongs
My heart belongs to Telstra
So let’s sing the Telstra song.
