Most Beethoven symphonies require 80 or more instruments, and the late romantics even more.

Roll Over Beethoven

Im gonna write a little letter,
Gonna mail it to my local dj.
Its a rockin rhythm record
I want my jockey to play.
Roll over beethoven, I gotta hear it again today.
You know, my temperatures risin
And the jukebox blows a fuse.
My hearts beatin rhythm
And my soul keeps on singin the blues.
Roll over beethoven and tell tschaikowsky the news.
I got the rockin pneumonia,
I need a shot of rhythm and blues.
I think Im rollin arthiritis
Sittin down by the rhythm review.
Roll over beethoven rockin in two by two.
well, if you feel you like it
go get your lover, then reel and rock it.
roll it over and move on up just
a trifle further and reel and rock it,
roll it over,
roll over beethoven rockin in two by two.
Well, early in the mornin Im a-givin you a warnin
Dont you step on my blue suede shoes.
Hey diddle diddle, I am playin my fiddle,
Aint got nothin to lose.
Roll over beethoven and tell tschaikowsky the news.
You know she wiggles like a glow worm,
Dance like a spinnin top.
She got a crazy partner,
Oughta see em reel and rock.
Long as she got a dime the music will never stop.
Roll over beethoven,
Roll over beethoven,
Roll over beethoven,
Roll over beethoven,
Roll over beethoven and dig these rhythm and blues.

Its Too Late To Change The Time

[intro]
Too late
Too late
Too late
[verse 1]
In this automatic age
We shop through the yellow page
Gone is the corner store
There is a supermarket there for you
People give way to change
But feelings remain the same
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
Well its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[verse 2]
Its a new day, a new age
A photograph just taken, is ready one minute later
Cars are bigger and better
But the manufacturers sastified never
In a world full of crime
I cant let you think thats right
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
No, no
[bridge 1]
So you wanna be a star (so you wanna be a star)
You are who you think you are (ah think you are)
You dont have to go further
Than my loving arms
[chorus half]
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[bridge 2]
Are you sure you wanna go to new york city (new york city)
Where girls make it big if theyre pretty (if they pretty)
Let say you get that penthouse view
But whos gonna love you the way I do (just the way I do)
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time, no
Too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time

Station To Station

The return of the thin white duke
Throwing darts in lovers eyes
Here are we, one magical moment, such is the stuff
From where dreams are woven
Bending sound, dredging the ocean, lost in my circle
Here am i, flashing no colour
Tall in this room overlooking the ocean
Here are we, one magical movement from kether to malkuth
There are you, drive like a demon from station to station
The return of the thin white duke, throwing darts in lovers eyes
The return of the thin white duke, throwing darts in lovers eyes
The return of the thin white duke, making sure white stays
Once there were mountains on mountains
And once there were sunbirds to soar with
And once I could never be down
Got to keep searching and searching
Oh, what will I be believing and who will connect me with love?
Wonderful, wonderful, wonder when
Have you sought fortune, evasive and shy?
Drink to the men who protect you and i
Drink, drink, drain your glass, raise your glass high
Its not the side-effects of the cocaine
Im thinking that it must be love
Its too late - to be grateful
Its too late - to be late again
Its too late - to be hateful
The european cannon is here
I must be only one in a million
I wont let the day pass without her
Its too late - to be grateful
Its too late - to be late again
Its too late - to be hateful
The european cannon is here
Should I believe that Ive been stricken?
Does my face show some kind of glow?
Its too late - to be grateful
Its too late - to be late again
Its too late - to be hateful
The european cannon is here, yes its here
Its too late
Its too late, its too late, its too late, its too late
The european cannon is here
Its not the side-effects of the cocaine
Im thinking that it must be love
Its too late - to be grateful
Its too late - to be late again

Beethoven

Theres a tremor in the city but it looks all quiet
There is something awful brewing but there aint riots
Beethoven
You can read between the lines that there must be more
Youre alarmed but you dont know what youre waiting for
Beethoven
Beethoven, the boots are back in town
When ignorance and fear are closing mouths and ears
The skins are on their way when it gets dark in europe
Its just a state of mind, the blind leading the blind
Beethoven
Theres a scrawling on a tombstone
Judenschweine raus
Once again the racial fury is burning down the house
Beethoven
Theres a bleeding yellow man lying in the streets
But there isnt anybody doing anything
Beethoven, the boots are back in town
When ignorance and fear are closing mouths and ears
The skins are on their way when it gets dark in europe
Its just a state of mind, the blind leading the blind
And one grey day shall rise the flood no dikes will stem the heavy tides
When cold pierced feathered bodies scream
They fall as if the monstrous scythe of clouds had smashed them from the sky
The scattered squadron of mankind stabs right into the churned up ether
Of long forgotten birdless flights
Beethoven, the boots are back in town
The demons of the past will be replaced at last
There are smarter ones to stay, how can you stay away
From the order of disgrace, how can you close your eyes
Beethoven, the boots are back....

Beethoven Street

Baby used to be a rock n roller
In the night time
She used to use all of my money
To have a good time
I gave her plenty of good times
She gave me plenty of heartaches
She was planning a getaway
Oh take me
To beethoven street
Thats where I want to be
Yeah take me
To beethoven street
Thats where I want to be
Babys given up rock n roll
And I can hardly keep control
Take me to beethoven street
Mr. I want to be there
Who cut the power on you
I just dont know
Who pulled the switch her heartbeat
She wouldnt let me know
I gave her plenty of good times
She gave me plenty of heartaches
She was planning a getaway
Take me to beethoven street
Thats where I want to be
Take me to beethoven street
Mr. I want to be there
Who cut the power on you baby
I just dont know
Who pulled the power on you
I just dont know
I gave her plenty of good times
She gave me plenty of heartaches

Too Late

See the stop-light turn-in red,
Dont you listen to what its said.
All the things you try to hide,
They keep you runnin hard inside.
Oh, you got to leave this town before its...
Too late, too late, too late, too late, too late,
Too late to make the change.
Oo, yes, my friend, youre fadin fast, if you stay here you wont last.
Before your time has run astray, youve got to try to get away.
Oh, you got to leave this place before its...
Too late, too late, too late, too late, too late,
Too late to make the change.
Too late, too late to make the change
Too late to make the change
Yes, its time to make the change, yes, its time to rearrange,
So, my friend, I join the fight for the things you know are right.
Oh, you got to leave this town before its...
Too late, too late, too late, too late, too late,
Too late to make the change.
Too late, too late to make the change
Too late, too late, to make the change
Too late to make the change
Too late, before its too late.

Guinevere

Queen Guinevere had fled the court, and sat
There in the holy house at Almesbury
Weeping, none with her save a little maid,
A novice: one low light betwixt them burned
Blurred by the creeping mist, for all abroad,
Beneath a moon unseen albeit at full,
The white mist, like a face-cloth to the face,
Clung to the dead earth, and the land was still.

For hither had she fled, her cause of flight
Sir Modred; he that like a subtle beast
Lay couchant with his eyes upon the throne,
Ready to spring, waiting a chance: for this
He chilled the popular praises of the King
With silent smiles of slow disparagement;
And tampered with the Lords of the White Horse,
Heathen, the brood by Hengist left; and sought
To make disruption in the Table Round
Of Arthur, and to splinter it into feuds
Serving his traitorous end; and all his aims
Were sharpened by strong hate for Lancelot.

For thus it chanced one morn when all the court,
Green-suited, but with plumes that mocked the may,
Had been, their wont, a-maying and returned,
That Modred still in green, all ear and eye,
Climbed to the high top of the garden-wall
To spy some secret scandal if he might,
And saw the Queen who sat betwixt her best
Enid, and lissome Vivien, of her court
The wiliest and the worst; and more than this
He saw not, for Sir Lancelot passing by
Spied where he couched, and as the gardener's hand
Picks from the colewort a green caterpillar,
So from the high wall and the flowering grove
Of grasses Lancelot plucked him by the heel,
And cast him as a worm upon the way;
But when he knew the Prince though marred with dust,
He, reverencing king's blood in a bad man,
Made such excuses as he might, and these
Full knightly without scorn; for in those days
No knight of Arthur's noblest dealt in scorn;
But, if a man were halt or hunched, in him
By those whom God had made full-limbed and tall,
Scorn was allowed as part of his defect,
And he was answered softly by the King
And all his Table. So Sir Lancelot holp
To raise the Prince, who rising twice or thrice
Full sharply smote his knees, and smiled, and went:
But, ever after, the small violence done

Too Late

Well, its too late for walking in the middle,
Too late to try.
Yes, its too late for sitting in the balance,
No more middle line.
Oh, its too late for walking on fences,
Time to choose your side.
Yes, its too late for flirtin with the darkness,
Make up your mind.
Oh, the time has come for making a decision,
And you say youve found the light.
But the talk is cheap when I see the way youre living,
Walking in the night.
Well, its too late for walking in the middle,
Too late to try.
Yes, its too late for sitting in the balance,
No more middle line.
Oh, its too late for thinking you can walk the middle line...
Better get wise.
You may think that you can live by your feelings,
Different every night.
But an emotional religion will crumble at our feet,
If were made to stand and fight.
Well, its too late for walking on fences,
Time to choose you side.
Yes, its too late for flirtin with the darkness,
Make up your mind.
Well, its too late for thinking you can walk the middle line...
Better get wise.
Well, its too late for walking in the middle,
Too late to try.
Yes, its too late for sitting in the balance,
No more middle line.
Oh, its too late for walking on fences,
Time to choose your side.
Yes, its too late for flirtin with the darkness,
Please make up your mind.
Well, its too late for walking in the middle,
Too late to try.
Yes, its too late for sitting in the balance,
No more middle line.
Oh, its too late for walking on fences,
Time to choose your side.
Yes, its too late for flirtin with the darkness,
Please make up your mind.

Not Communicating To Oneself

Listening to Beethoven we sense
the inspiration pouring from the master.
Johann Sebastian Bach sounds as intense,
but far more distant from disaster.
He seems to want to have a conversation
with anyone prepared to pay attention.
Although we lose him when his great elation
exceeds the limits of our comprehension,
we know that he is trying to communicate,
as if he’d just found, lying on a shelf,
the notes he’s trying to communicate
to us, and not, like Ludwig, to himself.
The proofs of Beethoven’s profundity
lay in the notes that for him had no sound,
while Bach, with effortless fecundity,
encouraged all of us to be profound.

J. M. Coetzee contrasts his relationship to the music of Beethoven and J. S. Bach. Whereas he imagines Beethoven as a genius from whom inspiration pours forth while oblivious to the people who may be listening to him he imagines J. S. Bach as a teacher who is attempting to instruct him while he sits next him while he is playing. As a rider, Coetzee added that there are moments when J. S. Bach’s inspiration exceeds the listener’s comprehension. These are the moments of his greatest inspiration. Listening to this report I was reminded of Richard Eder’s comment on Ceotzee when reviewing his book “Diary of a Bad Year” (“A Writer, A Muse, Their Laundry, ” NYT, January 1,2008) :
I think of the childlike simplicity of late Beethoven on a profound return trip from profundity.”

Are You Really a True Romantic?

I wonder, where have all the True Romantics gone? ... there are, but few
still flowering... still spinning dreams, still weaving words of love so true.
For, when l read a book, or watch a movie... perhaps, read a line
or two of poetry... l know that, somewhere in there, l will find
some bitter, shadowy undertone... perhaps, to spice some ailing plot?
True feelings, it may well reflect...
but True Romantic? ...
l think not.

The True Romantic is a gentle soul... a Literary Unicorn,
existing in a Golden Land, from where the sweet, soft dreams are born;
all spun from strands of pure romance... this bright-eyed hope of love, so fair;
no shadows here, to spoil the magic woven from the heart, with care.
The Unicorn is, but a dream... in myth, beyond our sight... far lost;
but, lose the True Romantic... lose the dream;
is this, then worth the cost?

Perhaps, it is that we have wandered from the path, in modern days;
perhaps, it is not now correct... politically, to trace the ways
the great Romantics, down the ages weaved their bright and shining dreams,
yet, there was sadness... there was yearning in their works...
but, now.... it seems
that all emotions... good or bad, must be displayed... the darker side;
the negativity of love... when lost, betrayed...
or just, denied.

So, is this some analysis... some facet of psychology
the author feels a need to show?
for it is not quite poetry,
or writing in the manner of the True Romantic... can't they see
the True Romantic's dream just cannot mix with grim reality?
As different as chalk and cheese; a world apart... a different thing
from the tapestry of dreaming that the True Romantic spins.

It is certain, that this rhyme will ruffle feathers far and wide...
but, the words therein contain the truth... it cannot be denied.
When seeking out the True Romantic's world, so many paths unfold
a promise of this Golden Land; yet seven in ten are dead and cold;
leading nowhere, but, to broken hearts... and sweet dreams, cruelly blighted...
the True Romantics work must leave imaginations
quite delighted.

Perhaps the authors of today, beset by cultural platitudes;
the realists... the avant garde... the modernistic attitudes,
have somehow, lost their bright-eyed innocence...
the touchstone of Romance;
if, this is so; then sad to say... they really do not stand a chance
of ever really dreaming Golden dreams... as True Romantics do...
Will the tiny flame still flicker in the dark?
l do hope so.

Its Not Too Late

(david jones)
Immortal music (bmi)
Lead vocal: davy jones
If I had a penny for every time I thought about you
I would be a millionaire
I would send you flowers each day
And I would show you in every way
Just how much I really care
The summer sun and the winter snow,
The autumn leaves let the spring rains know
Just how much I need your love
And if I knew that my time was near,
And you were there,
I would have no fear
Your name would be my dying prayer
Its not too late
To turn this ship around
To sail into the wind my love
Before we run aground
Its not too late
To say that I love you
And its not too late for you, my love
To say you love me too
(its not too late)
If I was a rich mans son
I would work till the day was done
Just to prove my love was true
I would take you for my wife
And I would love you all my life
And I would never leave or be untrue
Its not too late
To turn this ship around
To sail into the wind my love
Before we run aground
Its not too late
To say that I love you
And its not too late for you, my love
To say you love me too
(its not too late)
You know our future and your feelings
And the love that I have for you
Theyre always in my heart and on my mind
A never ending love affair
Well go together everywhere
Our love will last till the end of time
You know our future and your feelings
And the love that I have for you
Theyre always in my heart, theyre on my mind
A never ending love affair
Well go together everywhere

Proud Music Of The Storm

PROUD music of the storm!
Blast that careers so free, whistling across the prairies!
Strong hum of forest tree-tops! Wind of the mountains!
Personified dim shapes! you hidden orchestras!
You serenades of phantoms, with instruments alert,
Blending, with Nature's rhythmus, all the tongues of nations;
You chords left us by vast composers! you choruses!
You formless, free, religious dances! you from the Orient!
You undertone of rivers, roar of pouring cataracts;
You sounds from distant guns, with galloping cavalry! 10
Echoes of camps, with all the different bugle-calls!
Trooping tumultuous, filling the midnight late, bending me powerless,
Entering my lonesome slumber-chamber--Why have you seiz'd me?

Come forward, O my Soul, and let the rest retire;
Listen--lose not--it is toward thee they tend;
Parting the midnight, entering my slumber-chamber,
For thee they sing and dance, O Soul.

A festival song!
The duet of the bridegroom and the bride--a marriage-march,
With lips of love, and hearts of lovers, fill'd to the brim with
love; 20
The red-flush'd cheeks, and perfumes--the cortege swarming, full of
friendly faces, young and old,
To flutes' clear notes, and sounding harps' cantabile.

Now loud approaching drums!
Victoria! see'st thou in powder-smoke the banners torn but flying?
the rout of the baffled?
Hearest those shouts of a conquering army?

(Ah, Soul, the sobs of women--the wounded groaning in agony,
The hiss and crackle of flames--the blacken'd ruins--the embers of
cities,
The dirge and desolation of mankind.)

Now airs antique and medieval fill me!
I see and hear old harpers with their harps, at Welsh festivals: 30
I hear the minnesingers, singing their lays of love,
I hear the minstrels, gleemen, troubadours, of the feudal ages.

Now the great organ sounds,
Tremulous--while underneath, (as the hid footholds of the earth,
On which arising, rest, and leaping forth, depend,
All shapes of beauty, grace and strength--all hues we know,

Its Never Too Late

(d. hartman)
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Its never too late
To try and reach for your desires
Even when your luck is down
You still got chances of turning around
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Its never too late
To hold the power in your hands (power in your hands)
You will find a good, good feeling
Makin new plans and starting again
Its never too late
No, its never too late
No, its never too late no, no, no, no
No, its never too late
No, its never too late
No, its never too late
Its never too late
Time keeps changin everything
Sometimes tearin down
The treasures that it brings
Ever strong
Youll make it through
The secret lies in knowing
That its up to you
Say it with me now
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
We got the time
Theres no doubt in my mind
That its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late
Get the message
Oh, its never too late

Too Late

Soon its never more
When youve got to pay for
Promises - made in the night
Call the magic one
And with the magic comes
Forever chained to the flame
Chorus:
Its too late
Too late for tears
Too late
And no one hears you
Do you feel a touch of evil
(then) its too late
To wish and make it so
To feel the power growing
Stronger - blessed by the dark
And when the candle fades
You can say it was a
Joke you played
So you must let me go - no
Chorus:
Its too late
Youve said the word
Too late
Something heard you
Too late - now the race is on
And youre run out of road
Too late
For tears
Too late
And no one hears you
Can you feel the touch of evil
Its too late
Oh oh oh save me
I believe in your name
Oh oh Ive fallen down
But now Ive found
Nobody to take the blame
Misery
Its come to drag me away
And when the hunter cries
No alibis
Get ready for judgement day
As the candle fades
You can say it was a game you made
So you must let me go, let me go
Its too late - youve said the word
Too late - something heard you
Too late - the spell is gone
And this time youre the fool

Never Too Late

(gary rossington -- johnny vanzant -- hughie thomasson -- rickey medlocke)
In this world that we all live in
Its all takin and theres no givin
Before its too late, somethings gotta change
Go to work every day for the dollar
Doesnt matter were all blue collar
At the end of the day
Nothin lost, nothin gained
But its about time we realized
Its about time we opened our eyes
Take one step back and look at yourself
Do you like what you see
Oh no
Cause its never too late
Doesnt matter who you are
Its never too late
Hold on to your dreams and they will take you far
Cause its never too late
No, no, no
So many times Ive seen you cryin
But I see you out there still tryin
Workin hard just to get through another day
As a freind Im here to remind you
We all have a place to belong to
Who am i? see Im just like you
But its about time we realized
Its about time we opened our eyes
Take one step back and look at yourself
Do you like what you see
Oh no
Cause its never too late
Doesnt matter who you are
Its never too late
Hold on to your dreams and they will take you far
Cause its never too late
We all need a helpin hand sometimes
And I need one if you were mine
So right here, right now
You can count on me
Just open your eyes and you will see
That its never too late
No,no,no
Cause its never too late, it doesnt matter who you are
Its never too late
Hold on to your dreams and they will take you far
Cause its never too late
Cause its never too late, it doesnt matter who you are
Its never too late
You dont need a guitar son to be a star

Roll Over Beethoven

Well gonna write a little letter
Gonna mail it to my local D.J.
It's a rockin' little record
I want my jockey to play
Roll over Beethoven
I gotta hear it again today

You know my temperature's risin'
and the jukebox's blowin' a fuse
My hearts beatin' rhythm
and my soul keeps singing the blues
Roll over Beethoven
and tell Tchaikovsky the news

I got a rockin' pneumonia
I need a shot of rhythm and blues
I think I got it off the writer
sittin' down by the rhythm review
Roll over Beethoven
we're rockin' in two by two

Well if you fell you like it
Well get your lover and reel and rock it
roll it over and move on up
just jump around and reel and rock it
roll it over
Roll over Beethoven
a rockin' in two by two

Green Eyes

My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
I don't care, I swear
I'm too thru with you I am
You don't mean nothing to me
So go ahead and be with your friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
I'm insecure
But I can't help it
My mind says move on
My heart lags behind
But I don't love you any more
I'm so insecure
Never knew that love did this
Ooh, ooh
I can't remember the last time I felt this way
About somebody
You've done something to my mind
And I can't control it
But I don't love you any more
Yes I do, I think
Loving you is wrong baby
Ooh, ooh
La-di-da
Dum-dee-da-da
Dum-didi-da-da-da
Dum-didi-da-dum-di
I'm so confused
You tried to trick me yeah
Ooh, ooh, oh
Never knew that love could hurt like this
Never thought I would but I got dissed
Makes me feel so sad and hurt inside
Feel embarrased so I want to hide
Silly me I thought your love was true
Change my name to Silly E. Badu
Before I heal, it's gonna be a while
I know it's gonna be a while, chile
[ad-libs]
I hope it's not too late
Too late, too late, too late

All Or Nothing

(coverdale/galley)
Tonights the night
To come in out of the cold,
Ive waited such a long, long time
Im getting out of control
All or nothing
Thats what I want from you,
Im gonna give you everything I got
Now what are you gonna do
Dont try running away,
You know you get nothing that way
cos its too late,
Im gonna prove it to you
Too late,
Ill do what you want me to do
Too late,
You cant run anymore
Cos its too late for you now
My heart is burning
An the fire is hot,
My temperature is rising, rising, rising
Im ready to rock
All or nothing
Im gonna make you see,
Ive made up my mind, for sure, this time
Youre gonna spend the night with me
So dont try running away,
You know you get nothing that way
cos its too late,
Im gonna prove it to you
Too late,
Ill do what you want me to do
Too late,
You cant run anymore
cos its too late for you now
So dont try running away,
You know you get nothing that way
cos its too late,
Im gonna prove it to you
Too late,
Ill do what you want me to do
Too late,
You cant run anymore
cos its too late for you now
Too late,
Im gonna prove it to you
Too late,
Ill do what you want me to do
Too late,
You cant run anymore
