Journalists Who Lie

Journalists who lie
Stealing the money
Prospering with spite
Hate-in-a-hurry
Oh, see how :
Theyre only trying to make their name
By spreading biz myth-lies
About the ones whove made their name
Stick in the knife
Stick in the knife
Journalists who lie
The truth is, it happens
Praise, then crucify
Just follow this pattern
And see how :
Theyre only trying to make their name
By spreading sickening lies
About the ones whove made their name
Mate, give us the knife
Give us the knife
Journalists who lie
So happy in malice
Rock star - out of line
So happy in malice
Oh ...
Journalists who lie
So sick and belaboured
They only want to be favoured
They only want to be favoured
See how :
Theyre only trying to make their name
With unprovable lies
About the ones
Whove made their name
In the black hole
Of your soul
Still bargaining away the truth
So easily
Truth
Journalists who lie
Stealing the money
Prospering with spite
And hate-in-a-hurry
Journalists who lie
The truth is, it happens
Praise, then crucify
Just follow this pattern
Journalists who lie
So sick and belaboured
They want to be favoured

My lifelong friend

[Sri Lanka raids office of pro-opposition news websites
Posted by Karthiyayini on June 30,2012 in Exclusive, Headlines, News, Sri Lanka · 0 Comments
Colombo, June 30 (TruthDive) : Media freedom has always been a huge concern in Sri Lanka. The country shows its ugly face yet again by showcasing it as one of the world's most dangerous countries for journalists.
An independently running and pro-opposition office of two news websites have been raided by Sri Lankan Police. The Police have arrested nine workers including the editor of one of the websites, searched the premises for about three hours on Friday and seized computers and documents.
A statement from government stated that the police officers had acted on a court order, searched and sealed off the office on Friday. The websites were said to be publishing flawed information and had put a ‘blot on Sri Lanka's image.'
The Opposition United National Party member Mangala Samaraweera said that the office had operated two websites - www.srilankamirror.com and www.srilankaxnews.com that belong to the party. He added that the nine arrested employees were released on bail after an appearance before a magistrate.
Samaraweera said that Friday's raid had been initiated as his party's website had uncovered corruption and other unlawful activity by the government.
Gnanasiri Kottigoda, who heads Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association, stated that the police action showed that the government has not ceased to harass and intimidate independent media institutions and journalists in Sri Lanka. He also opined that it is a step towards silencing the independent media groups in Sri Lanka.
The Committee to Protect Journalists said, in the year 2010, Sri Lanka was ranked as the fourth most dangerous country for journalists. Since the beginning of year 2006, at least 14 Sri Lankan media employees were said to have been killed, according to Amnesty International.
www.srilankamirror.com and four other websites were blocked by authorities last year over so-called character assassination, and the action is still in effect for four others.
www.srilankamirror.com went on to file a case in the Supreme Court after which the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority agreed to unblock the website on condition that it would not provide links to blocked or unregistered sites. Several media rights groups and other countries, including the United States had severely criticized the blocking of the websites by the Sri Lankan government.
To top it all, attacks on media men and media institutions either fail to get properly investigated or blocked, according to Reporters without Borders.]

I was born with you and since in the cradle
We crawled together.
It's not a bed of roses,
My bare-feet very familiar with the thorny painful streets.
Sometimes you hide in my eyes as tears
And often remain as a hug in my weeping heart.
You too starved in my difficult times
And you never betray me that's certain as death.
I realized that you never smile but I embrace you
From the bottom of my heart
And you are my lifelong friend, Sorrow!

It Is Poetic And Prophetic

It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
And...
This could be interpreted,
As comments from a cynic.

'I see the holes in shoes.'

And...
This could be interpreted,
As comments from a cynic.

'Those shoes have not been used.
Since many are afraid of walking.
But talk about nonsense,
They choose to do.'

It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.
And...
It could be interpreted,
As comments from a cynic.

'Lips flap flip flop so much.'

And...
This could be interpreted,
As comments from a cynic.

'Flipping lips lick ears to touch,
With venom spiced and nothing nice to say...
Yet quick to pick from empty pockets.'

It is poetic and prophetic,
With some tongue in cheek stuff.

Wishing to steal more.

Wandering Star

Please could you stay awhile to share my grief
For its such a lovely day
To have to always feel this way
And the time that I will suffer less
Is when I never have to wake
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
... those who have seen the needles eye, now tread
Like a husk, from which all that was, now has fled
And the masks, that the monsters wear
To feed, upon their prey
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
(always) doubled up inside
Take awhile to shed my grief
(always) doubled up inside
Taunted, cruel.... ...
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever

Commenting (Please Read)

This poem is dedicated to a very dear friend in Canada.
Melvina Germain.
The first person who left a heart prints on my work almost a year and a half ago. Mel, a million thanks from me.
Love and Hugs.
David xxxx

Some people read your work
and then pass on their way,
never leaving a comment
whether they liked it or not.
For any writer good or bad,
unless someone makes a comment on your work,
you feel left out in the cold.

For those who think that comments do not help,
let me tell you what comments have done for me.
For six or seven years I had given up writing,
I swore I would never lift my pen again.
Then in January 2007,
I posted a few old poems on a poetry site.
I was confused and lost at the time.
Never though for one moment
anyone would want to read my humble work.
I was wrong.
Through the comments I received,
I started writing again.

Since the 19th January 2007 to today the 14th June 2008
I have written 1132 poems, a 80,000 word novel,
collaborated on over 20 poems
with two young ladies half a world away from me
and published my first book of poetry.
For under a year and a half
that is not a bad record
and it happened through the encouragement in comments.

So the next time you read someone work
and there is a space for a comment,
leave one please.
Those little heart prints can change someone’s life
and encourage them on to do better things.
Your comment does not have to be lengthy,
just a word or two will do.
Remember it is good to help someone
and by leaving a comment,
that is just what you will do.
I always leave a comment on everything I read
knowing how others comments have helped me.

Shared Absence

There are those with abilities to maneuver,
Into positions quick...
Without a hint of suspicion,
That their subtle comments made...
Have been selected to degrade.

They're on a mission to undo someone unknown,
But...
They pick and choose,
Those they hope have similar views...
With shared absence of any truth.

Whispered in the ears,
Is something sure to please.
With a leaving out of what was done,
To get someone to seethe.

Fragmented doses meant to mention,
To create descensions that begin.
And...
With intent,
These comments tempt a listening.

Whispered in the ears,
Is something sure to please.
With a leaving out of what was done,
To get someone to seethe.

There are those with abilities to maneuver,
Into positions quick...
Without a hint of suspicion,

Betrayal of Humanity

One must be cautiously aware,
Of comments made...
In places infested with those who manifest,
A betrayal of humanity.

The people there are not easily identified.
Some use religious beliefs...
To deceive others to confide.
As pools of sincerity drenches their eyes.

One must be cautiously aware,
Of comments made...
In places infested with those who manifest,
A betrayal of humanity.

It is as if they plot against,
Those who express empathy.
And come to another's defense.
This they suspect as a leakage of weakness.
And they perceive a caring done,
From someone willing to expose...
Their heartfelt feelings.
And a campaign begins to ensure they are demeaned.

One must be cautiously aware,
Of comments made...
In places infested with those who manifest,
A betrayal of humanity.

The people there are not easily identified.
Some use religious beliefs...
To deceive others to confide.
As pools of sincerity drenches their eyes.
And a campaign begins to ensure they are demeaned.

Wizards of deception are trained.
And will do their best to protect delusions.
While attacks upon them,
Will be viciously claimed.
And a campaign begins to ensure they defame.

One must be cautiously aware,
Of comments made...
In places infested with those who manifest,
A betrayal of humanity.
These pests are all over the place.

Address of a New Poetess To All Poets Here

As I open my partner this site I see
And closing it too, this site I live
In my mind and my heart I smiled gently
Jessie, at last the search you see.

I joined and left some sites I register
Thought it's nice I registered as a member
Poetry and friendship I want to share
But in the end discrimination reigns.

Ratings and comments really boost morale
Spirits rises get inspired and poetic as I
Creative and imaginative minds do survive
Knowledge, talents hidden or not described.

Surfing the web for my compositions
A poet friend introduced this portion
Sharing in my heart I thought I found
Comments and ratings not in my mind.

They are good if one needs a push
It is a flavor that a creative may savor
But to the competitors it's not a favor
Bet, surely come and show real color.

As I read and commented to a poem
Reading the history of her comments
Rise both my brows I was surprised,
Here too, a competition trouble arise?

Where on web can I join and may find
A place where no feuds and race arise?
Or can we just let that comments be
A guide for better and competition free?

IV. Tertium Quid

True, Excellency—as his Highness says,
Though she's not dead yet, she's as good as stretched
Symmetrical beside the other two;
Though he's not judged yet, he's the same as judged,
So do the facts abound and superabound:
And nothing hinders that we lift the case
Out of the shade into the shine, allow
Qualified persons to pronounce at last,
Nay, edge in an authoritative word
Between this rabble's-brabble of dolts and fools
Who make up reasonless unreasoning Rome.
"Now for the Trial!" they roar: "the Trial to test
"The truth, weigh husband and weigh wife alike
"I' the scales of law, make one scale kick the beam!"
Law's a machine from which, to please the mob,
Truth the divinity must needs descend
And clear things at the play's fifth act—aha!
Hammer into their noddles who was who
And what was what. I tell the simpletons
"Could law be competent to such a feat
"'T were done already: what begins next week
"Is end o' the Trial, last link of a chain
"Whereof the first was forged three years ago
"When law addressed herself to set wrong right,
"And proved so slow in taking the first step
"That ever some new grievance,—tort, retort,
"On one or the other side,—o'ertook i' the game,
"Retarded sentence, till this deed of death
"Is thrown in, as it were, last bale to boat
"Crammed to the edge with cargo—or passengers?
"'Trecentos inseris: ohe, jam satis est!
"'Huc appelle!'—passengers, the word must be."
Long since, the boat was loaded to my eyes.
To hear the rabble and brabble, you'd call the case
Fused and confused past human finding out.
One calls the square round, t' other the round square—
And pardonably in that first surprise
O' the blood that fell and splashed the diagram:
But now we've used our eyes to the violent hue
Can't we look through the crimson and trace lines?
It makes a man despair of history,
Eusebius and the established fact—fig's end!
Oh, give the fools their Trial, rattle away
With the leash of lawyers, two on either side—
One barks, one bites,—Masters Arcangeli
And Spreti,—that's the husband's ultimate hope
Against the Fisc and the other kind of Fisc,
Bound to do barking for the wife: bow—wow!
Why, Excellency, we and his Highness here
Would settle the matter as sufficiently

A petty reason perhaps why novelists more and more try to keep a distance from journalists is that novelists are trying to write the truth and journalists are trying to write fiction.

She of the Heavenly Happiness

No-one knew what subsequently became of her
after he went so dramatically, and after all those goings-on.
He got all the headlines.
The police didn't even bother
to take her in for questioning.
There was talk of riots,
they needed every spare man.

But the story never quite went away.
You know how it is with journalists -
we file it away for a rainy day,
then it sticks in our mind
for when we retire and write a best-seller, I wish...

I doubt we'll ever know the truth of it;
but every now and then
some nutter with a convincing sighting
makes a free gift to journalists
with no personal responsibility for us either.

France, Spain, Italy, gipsy communities -
you name it, they know her
except she was never there that day.

The story among her friends is
that she went on a long Mediterranean cruise
with two other ladies.
Yet there's no account of their returning
and there are stories that they all separated
and took up new careers in foreign places
where they acquired new names, locally
so the trail's gone cold.

But stories like his, and hers,
and whether they - well, you know -
never quite go away
and the part she played
though brief, sure was dramatic, so
it's made her a role model for those women -
and there have been many over the years -
whose lives have taken a turn for the worse
(no man can know what it's like
for a woman to hav e to sell herself)
and who see in her story
a hope of life's big U-turn
and all that we really hope for.
God knows we all need one.
Could be a Lloyd-Webber musical,
come to think of it.
After all, she was there

Earn Enough For Us

Ive been praying all the week through
At home, at work and on the bus
Ive been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us
I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
Im just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
Found a house that wont repair itself
With its windows cracking
And a roof held together with holes
Just because were at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldnt be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest
Ive been praying all the week through
At home at work and on the bus
Ive been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us
So youre saying that were going to be three
Now, a fathers what Ill be
Dont get me wrong, Im so proud
But the belts already tight
Ill get another job at night, but honest
I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
Im just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
Just because were at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldnt be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest
I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
Im just praying by the weekend

Note to Solicitors of Votes

Note to those soliciting reviews.
I find it a rather distasteful act to spam
(for lack of a better word)
members of this site with requests
for comments and reviews
without first introducing yourself and at least posting a comment prior to making a request for comments and votes.

I have been too kind and too lenient in the past,
believing in your promises to return the favour
only to end up waiting for something that will probably never arrive.

Hence, heretofore, please be so kind to give what you so desperately petition for me to do -
post comments/reviews on my works FIRST
and only then and thereafter ask me to return the favour.

That is how it works.
Otherwise your requests will fall on deaf ears and be reported as spam.

Thank you for your attentive consideration.

`
P.S.

An opinion is forming that those who perpetrate this discourteous
and ill-mannered practice are only after votes and popularity on this site.
It is a shameful thing to do and should be curtailed.
